It is important that we listen to Dhamma sessions with discernment. One reason that the Dhamma does not spread easily even among those who are intelligent and moral is that there is so much of misogynous views expressed by monks. For one thing, the king in this story can hardly hold it against it the queen for sleeping with 64 other men when he has 500 women in his harem. The other thing is that the monk here says that it's not possible for a woman to be born a man in the next life if she has sinned in this life! Is that from the suttas or a personal view point? What is the basis of that when the roots of defilements are the same in all beings? The defilements are greed, hate and delusion. If men are a superior to women then women would only be able to reach Enlightenment after all the men have reached Enlightenment and no woman would be able to reach full Enlightenment. This is not the case. I appreciate the work of the different monks. However as Sravaka, it is our responsibility to be discerning and sift out that which is chaff (personal view points of monks) and retain the wheat - that which is consistent with the words of someone who is fully Enlightened and which will not contain words that are rooted in hate, greed or delusion. The vast majority of those who a progressing in the Dhamma are women, not men. Just a thought.
