That's true. That game showed that Woody couldn't keep up with the changes in football at the time. He couldn't /wouldn't adjust to the new passing attacks either on offense or defense.
I was at this game. I was surprised walking out afterward how negative the OSU fans were towards Woody...absolutely nothing good to say about him. With or without the Clemson punch I think the fans were done with him.
This doesn't surprise me in the slightest. I grew up and lived in the Columbus area for nearly my whole life. I wasn't around during Woody Hayes' tenure as OSU coach (I was born the year following this game) but I know how OSU fans can be. I mean I had the "OSU! GO Bucks!! RAH! RAH!" crap jammed down my throat so much that I rebelled and became a Michigan fan, even though I went to college at OSU (I just stayed away from any talk of sports there). It was towards the end of Jim Tressel's run as OSU head coach that OSU lost a game (I forget the team they lost to, I want to say either Illinois or Wisconsin) and afterwards my Facebook feed was filled with posts of people talking about how they could do a better job coaching than Tressel. It was the same for Urban Meyer too. Now because Ryan Day has lost to Michigan twice they are calling for him to be fired. So when OSU loses a game, even when it is not a big high stakes game the OSU fans are ready to tear the coach apart. So that is why it doesn't surprise me to hear that Woody Hayes was getting verbally beat up after this game. Though today nobody has anything bad to say about Woody Hayes in Columbus as there he has been immortalized.
I was at this game. I was a cheerleader for Michigan. It was a GREAT DAY!! Hail to the Victors!
We dominated this game. To bad we couldn't see Woody Hayes punching himself towards the end of the game
Woody was no more than a cranky old man at this point of his career. The game had passed him by.
Bo schembecler put wood hayes into retirement/ nursing home 🏡 in 1978 with a wheelchair ♿️
Art Schlichter, a quality individual of whom all Buckeyes are proud.
Julius44bc Hilarious.
He was the man at Ohio state as quarterback
Art schlichter legendary Ohio state football player quarterback
Art schlichter beat michigan few time& went to the rosebowl , legendary ohio dtate quarterback
16:22 TD, no I mean first down. Same guy who called a Charles White TD for USC in the Rose Bowl a few weeks later?
I liked the tradition of carrying the coach off the field. So much better than dumping Gatorade on him for God's sake.
Ron Simpkins, Curtis Greer, and Andy Canovino. It is actually amazing OSU scored 3 points.
Woody and the Buckeyes were never the same after they got embarrassed by UCLA in Rose Bowl.

3 straight losses to Michigan - the game had passed Woody by.
Bear Bryant Alabama whip woody hayes ohio state in a bowl game, that probably hurt more against his rivals bear Bryant vs woody hayes
Bo schembecler & bear Bryant put woody Hayes into nursing home 🏡 in 1978 wheels chair style
Anybody catch Chris Schenkel saying "Keitz, of Columbus" at about 3:05?
We dominated this game..just could not finish drives
Ironically this would be Woody Hayes's last Michigan game.THats Chris Schenkel who is the play by play man
20:22 I my dad
Next year's Ohio State Michigan game was better. Buckeyes won 3 of the next 4 years against Michigan after disappointing 78 season
The quarterback suppose to stand back not be in the row of guys.
Typical bo at halftime. Crying about the calls. Lol.
Lefty rich leach ,my hero a magician with the football ball
Great legacy
The band playing the fight song after every semi-big play gets very old, very quick.
Love both fight songs, best part of the game other the refreshment
