well hate to say it but old phones don't have the best wifi and I know because Ive tried using my 2019 S10e vs the 2013 iphone 5s and It's way worse. Besides that good review man!

Great on-the-fly review (pun intended). I purchased this stone last month and it is my second drone,my first was a Christmas present and was a 50 dollar drone. This drone was easy to fly out the box. I am no drone dude, until now, but this drone gives me an average of 17.34 minutes of fly and record time. I am now quickly becoming a drone enthusiast and look forward to the fun (and frustrations) that come with flying these amazing machines.
Great video!!! Covers just about everything. I have the same drone. I'm a beginner but I believe that when you turned off the remote, that is what caused you to lose the connection to the WiFi. Not an issue with the drone itself.

Just got one for Xmas 2020 🎄. Mine did not come with a memory card or USB adapter, but did come with two batteries. Must new packaging... also glad you showed how to calibrate the compass. I could not figure out that I needed to hold the drone at 90° to set the 2nd part of the compasses (pink lights). I hope fpv hud is more solid that your test here. Going to go fly right now...

Amazing! I've been scared to fly mine because the "beginner drone" I bought last year cannot steadily maintain, and crashes into everything; I am so glad you showed that Altitude maintain feature! I just got this HolyStone over the holidays... Also, the Map allows you to draw pinpoints for the drone to follow/fly automatically and then return home utilizing Google Maps (just wanted to include that in case you haven't tried that yet) thanks so much for this video!
I'm surprized: a lot of the more expensive drones $500 dollars and up dont land bulls eye on the landing pad, but this $170. dollar drone can. That says alot. Wow. Not bad at all for a beginner fpv drone. Great video RCE

You make a very helpful,. very informative video! Thank you. I will be buying this drone. I had bought the 720E which is a better one but the app requires your phone be dual band . The wifi signal for the 720E is 5ghz but on this drone it is 2,4 ghz and works on a cheaper phone like mine that doesn't have 5G capability.

i fell in love with drones im new never had any i just ordered this one for me it just need to fly good and long as it possible camera doesnt need to be proffesional just decent so it can see well thats and speed is not important to me at all ask me questions when it comes amazon sad its going to be on monday i will answer on all question about this drone because there is still much new drone lovers that likes to start with easy drones like me. Needs more battery power lol if I go faster you got about 15 minutes max. Although I have a problem with it not facing me when it’s on follow me mode. ???
I’ve had two of these both worked great in cloudy or at dusk. In bright sunlight both got wonky if you left the WiFi range. Both of mine flew off on their own and ignored the emergency shut off and return home commands. Seems like a good drone as long as you don’t fly it more than 20 yards away.
I bought this last week and my wifi for the camera was awesome, I'm using a galaxy note 8. Maybe it is your iPhone not having a strong wifi connection? But I'm super happy with this drone considering the price.
I have had 2 of them. I lost control of the 1st one and it lodged 110 feet up in a fir tree. Came down a few days later but had a cracked and bent arm. I bought a second. FPV froze at range limit over trees and I couldn't see the drone. Pressed return to home and never saw it again and couldn't find it. I went around and tried to connect to wifi where I thought it might be with no luck. Very steep terrain. I would say this was all operator error and pushing the drone beyond it's comfort circle. So now the price has come down to $119 at Walmart and I have 2 cases and, 3 batteries, and accessories, so I bought a third. Then I was pleasantly surprised that the company gave me another even though I told them that I took responsibility for both loses. That was nice. So now I have 2 more coming this week. I learned a lot from this video. I had done some things wrong and was learning through trial and error. I like the drone and think they are the best in the price point. GPS with a 2k tilt camera. So, I'm going to try to prepare more and fly it well within it's flight parameters. Its a little jerky for movies, but I just want to put it up and take pictures of stuff, so it's good for that and it's fun to fly around. BTW, for it to go to the set RTH altitude that altitude must be set a bit lower than the maximum flight altitude. I never had a problem with that. I did have a real problem with headless mode with this drone and I think it's a bit scary to operate in headless mode. I could never trim it according to the instructions. All in all, I think they are nice drones so I'm going to try to not lose the ones I'm getting. Living in a forest of 30 meter fir and cedar makes it a bit more challenging than your large open field.
I have a Holy Stone HS110D and I plan to get the HS120D for my second drone and the HS510 for my third drone! The HS120D is similar to my HS110D which will be good as it is a similar platform to my HS110D.
Just bought this on eBay (via Holyoak store), it’s $99 or $112 with two batteries. I wish it had brushless motors, but didn’t want to get into the $130-$150 range until I know I will use one frequently.
Thank you for the review! I've just started looking into Drones and this helped out a lot. Two things I didn't see demonstrated that I would have liked, is the follow ability, and the adjustment of the camera... or is the camera adjustment not available remotely?
So when it lost the FPV signal, does it mean this aspect of the HS 120D is a thumbs down... just not good quality, or there was some kind of outside interference, or you could only correct this with a "repeater", or just an anomaly? 2:38 I like the rotary speed selector. The only other drone I've personally seen with this feature is my HS 150 Bolt Bee. Unlike this one, the Bolt Bee has 5 speeds to choose from, very unusual. 3:07 I hate transmitters that don't have dedicated trim buttons! The amount of problems with the WiFi FPV was disappointing. 26:30 I like the low voltage geofencing!
It surprised me that it didn't rth once the battery got very low like it supposed to as stated in the manual. I tried using a wifi repeater to get more fpv distance but sadly it didn't improve by that much. Maybe double the original pathetic distance.

Just bought one today at a local flea market for 60.00 brand new box never opened I’m still a beginner and this is my first “big boy “ drone!! Was 60.00 a good price or did I get dicked !!!
Got this for a birthday present 2 weeks ago. everything seemed ok for the first few flights and as a complete beginner I made sure that I remained in the correct beginner's progamme. The weather has not been great recently for flying drones but today was a dead calm. Took the drone out again in beginner mode and after a couple of minutes flying it fell out the sky and crashed on a concrete path. Camera housing smashed, SD card lost and landing gear broken. I was really enjoying this drone but no more now. Do not have a clue what happened to make it do this.

What can I do if I lost my USB drive reader for my SIM card . When I use a different one that didn’t come with the drone it only reads pictures not video . Any advice on how I can fix this
Make sure to go into the settings every time you turn the motors off to reset the beginner mode. It turns itself off mid flight sometimes as well. Super bug, have reported it many times.
Mine when “maintaining altitude” likes to sometimes fly crazy and all around I have the hs110d also would like to know why my back lights blink red and front blink white
Was given one for Christmas. After over two hours of frustration and never getting it off the ground, I put it back in the case and gave it away. Problem solved.
I have to concur with the poor FPV/WiFi range on this thing...mine was even worse than yours believe it or not. I've had a few moments where it also seemed to have a mind of its own, but I attribute that to RF interference around where I fly. Overall a solid drone for the money (on sale for about $149 + tax)
Nothing wrong with the Holy Stone packages they put together apart from one thing.....the price. You can get a bug for that money. ( or equivalent different brand)
I'm thinking about buying this drone to use on my land in the ozark mountains. There is not much cell signal out there, will i still be able to use it and see the real time video?

Hi I've heard of people having issues with video not saving to the SD card, is this a problem that you've encountered at all? Does video just save automatically to it or?
@@RCEscape did that end up happening often/severely enough to be a huge deal. It's gonna be my first drone and want to try and get snaps and video from a decent height so I'm guessing I'll need to be able to see the FPV to do that well

hi my son has this and loves it ,is the protruding wire at the back of camera important as its dropped of or can drone be used still ok
That'll be the wifi antenna so take care of it.

In my testing when it ran out of battery it just came down so maybe the battery was weak?

The wifi is transmitted by the drone. You connect the phone to the drones transmitted wifi.
I saw a flight footage video you did on the hs600 holy Stone, do you have a range test review for that drone?? if so I would really like to see it. I searched your videos but I can't find it. I hope you can let me know. thanks
I didn't do a range test on the hs600 but it will go 3000meters or 1.86 miles with wifi video :)
@@RCEscape yeah I know that's what they claim LOL but I can't find a video that demonstrates it, and you do really good range test videos, so I was really excited to see if you had done one. I have the sjrc f11s which also goes 3000 m, but I'm having so many problems with the app crashing and the lag of the video transmission that I haven't been able to go that far. home point is the new take off spot and it knows to return there but make sure the compass has been calibrated correctly :)

What can I do if I lost my USB drive reader for my SIM card . When I use a different one that didn’t come with the drone it only reads pictures not video . Any advice on how I can fix this

Make sure to go into the settings every time you turn the motors off to reset the beginner mode. It turns itself off mid flight sometimes as well. Super bug, have reported it many times.
Mine when “maintaining altitude” likes to sometimes fly crazy and all around I have the hs110d also would like to know why my back lights blink red and front blink white
I think the gps compass calibration needs to be done again.
Was given one for Christmas. After over two hours of frustration and never getting it off the ground, I put it back in the case and gave it away. Problem solved.

GPS quadcopters need to be calibrated correctly and the necessary satellites acquired outdoors before it will take off.

Move away from any metal objects that can interfere with the compass.

I have to concur with the poor FPV/WiFi range on this thing...mine was even worse than yours believe it or not. I've had a few moments where it also seemed to have a mind of its own, but I attribute that to RF interference around where I fly. Overall a solid drone for the money (on sale for about $149 + tax)

Nothing wrong with the Holy Stone packages they put together apart from one thing.....the price. You can get a bug for that money. ( or equivalent different brand)

you will know. it will not fly right. ie toilet bowl activity. watch the video the status lights tells you if you did it correctly.

You mentioned wifi repeater. Is there one that works with this drone?
The repeater is the Xiaomi repeater but I don't think they sell it anymore.

Hi I've heard of people having issues with video not saving to the SD card, is this a problem that you've encountered at all? Does video just save automatically to it or?
I don't think I had any issues with this one not taking videos to the sd card.
My issue was the wifi connection freezing up once a while.
@@RCEscape did that end up happening often/severely enough to be a huge deal. It's gonna be my first drone and want to try and get snaps and video from a decent height so I'm guessing I'll need to be able to see the FPV to do that well
