- The latest Lil Rat interview is finally here. Took me a couple weeks to finish editing it. Over 20 minutes of story telling, history reflecting, and old corner visiting included.
I sat down with Joseph “Lil Rat” Carrillo last month to go over his personal connection to the Latin Kings of the West Town area of Chicago. Plenty of legendary names were talked about, such as Lord Gino from Leavitt and Schiller, King Papo from Division Street, and plenty more!
In order to show the viewers a better understanding, we took a drive down to a few corners of the past, where major gang activity took place within the West Town/Wicker Park neighborhood.
Enjoy!
That Latin king dude was a hero risking his life for those 2 kids.
Our gangs have underdogs in them with heroic stories that always get forgotten .... ive always said what about all the good things like that was done like that ... People dont know ,people forget hopefully with these documentaries, outsiders will finally know what Chicago is really about .... not that big mouth hollywood shit todays kids are doing ...what have we become brother ... I lost two brothers to drugs cocaine and fentanyl..... they dont wake up ... thats whats going down now .... fucking pills and opium .... that makes my blood boil
@@lightofchicagoproductionz9012 sorry about your brothers I can't imagine seeing a family member sink in addiction. All the best to you and yours.
Finally, keep these coming Champ!!!
🇵🇷💯
Thanks for the upload. I used to live throughout most of that area.
I was born in 79, started hanging around lin the mid/late 80s,and early 90s, over on Augusta/Greenview, up in Noble Square. It was all Gents on A/C. I still talk 2 JV,here in there. Hes alot older then me. I remember AVz over by A/F, I use 2 Hit that doughnut shop, at night, when I was a kid,at night after they closed, ring the bell, and this Polish guy would give me a whole box,and like $4 dollars, i think, that was so long ago. The MKz, I would see afew by Eckhart park, but more down Noble South of Chicago ave. Miss the late 80s,Walton having dope ass block parties, the Hideout, was kiddy corner from my house. Good ol days. I remember the House, with all those crosses,on Chestnut, my dad grew up there when he was younger, and he told me,he remembered when the guy started, nailing crosses on the crib.
born in 79 too..turned king from up north in 92 93....that corner beach and ashland in my time was border between BP maniacs and the Jivers on Blackhawk.... duks used to be right there across the street in 95 my boy Casper RIP LKzRLst was killed in the drive thru by the jivers...... I remember in 94 the Vikings smoked one of the top peewee maniacs named lil loco by that donut shop you mentioned....I knew some Gents that were on noble Frankie G and white boy Chester they were always outside wells high school they never fucked w me cuz we got our GEDs together at anixter center...man the hideout and the crosses house were landmarks around there you took me back on those memories
I love this gang history thank you God bless you🖤💙🖤💙🖤💙🙏🏼👍🏼
Love watching and listening to your storys. Keep up the good work. Can you do an episode on the Boulevard Latin Kings from Marshall Square. They have some history with the Harrison Gents and the Stone Kents
I do not know any BLVD Latin King OG’s personally, so that would need to happen first in order for an interview to get done
What he says at the end.
Got me in the feels.
Thats wisdom
Need more of these with Lil Rat
The LK saving those two kids is an insane story. Bless that mans soul.
Joey is much more subdued than previous videos, very interesting
I came up in Uptown, a little older than Joey. Not in the city anymore, cool to hear about the old neighborhoods
He was a little worried about my plan to go visit some old corners of our old neighborhood, thankfully he trusts me and went along to go film some on location footage🤝
@@westlove1226 The stories are awesome and, like you said, you guys visiting the corners where it all went down, it brought me back to the 70's, gangbanging was raw in those days, you had to walk that line in some dark alley..love to see a millennial go thru that
What up gent! I’m a brother from kankakee glad to see you alive and well brother! I just bought a war sweater from the mill!
Sorry to say but Lil Rat just passed away last month after a long battle with cancer, his memory will forever be preserved with these videos🕊️🙏
@@westlove1226 wow!!! Omg!!! Well thank you for the update and long live Lil Rat!! Amor Brother! Gent luv!
@@asamatteroflaw570 anytime… he was a dear friend of mine, I was at his wake, Amor!🎩
@westlove1226 hey just wondering was lil rat a native American I see the necklace he is wearing
@@vincentstevens6229 he sure was, his tribe was from South Dakota.
Something. I work in that area! Never new that, from south side.
Anyone remember a King named Mousie? He was also an Unknown. Not sure what sets. Somewhere in Wicker Park. Also Lalo. I worked with them at a warehouse.
I use to break into that bakery when i was a kid..
Leaving and Schiller was an old school Latín Kíng section, then It became an Insane UnKnown section, till it turned LK again. That’s the history from the 1960s till the 1990s, I don’t think anyone claims that block today.
I was in Centralia in 1998 on South 4 C4. I was there when they transferred the king chief and my celly ended up with a quarter ounce of his weed and we smoked it up on lock down for two weeks after orange crush came though lol good times...
orange crush... damn man that makes my mind start remembering shit I wanna forget..... my worst experience w orange ninja turtles was in shawnee in 02.... they beat the shit outta everyone in the chow hall man even if you were laid out or surrendered ya still got whacked....whole joint got shook down and then locked down for weeks and I cant even remember what kicked it off now.....what the real name for orange crush anyways?...it something like "tac" or "swac"like swat team but with all the fuckin crazy swole C.O.z
What’s the place you were talking about where they get the sweaters from? You said it still open?
Sure is, Chicago Knitting Mill on Montrose & Kimball.
RIP JOEY
Chicago has always been crazy...
Nice history...
ISCN...
RiP , Joey..my condolences to his familia and friends
Damn he died? He had so much history
I would love to see a video about white sal. He was my uncle, my father's oldest brother. But I never met sal. My father is from 21st and California. He has history with the Kents. My father to this day dont know nothing about his brother Sal.
I've read where the Harrison Gents actually started out as a mixed gang.
Correct, on the south side by Harrison & Western Avenue
Yoooo my man's really wrote on a miller lite box ayoooo 😂😭
Gotta be resourceful 😁
man...chicago is a gangsta ass city..probably more than LA..and alot of the history is unknown...alot of the war stories are lost..im sure that there are hundreds in the system waiting to tell a story
There's is a lot of war story, thing is some old school guy still see talking about the gang past is tricking aka snicking...
Gangstas don't gangbang. Chi ain't better than LA. LA ain't better than the Chi
@@jaykaynum5569 i ain't say that chi was better than LA..but in certain times chi gets more buck wild than LA and vice Versa...I don't know what you mean by GS don't gangbang...maybe in over there that's true ..not so in NYC..really in NYC they absolutely don't bang...every once in a while you'll hear something bout a gang doing sum .but it's mainly MS13 doing all the serious work...the rest are soft as baby shit..I wish I could show out if staters how rat infested the Latin kings and the bloods are ..I know first thing a biutch going say iz that I'm capping, but on my life I'm calling it like I see it... everyday...I'm in these streets...every day u call in the devil but he won't show...what you think?
@@jaykaynum5569 Chi is better than LA. A lot of the Organizations began programs for the youth and were moving towards the field of politics way back in the days. RICO, drugs and corruption brought them down. Show me what gangs in LA created safe havens for their youths and gained access to government funding. Don’t worry I’ll wait.
@@jaykaynum5569 Stfu with the comparisons cuz you did all that preaching shit for no reason 😭 nobody gives af bout LA
Anyone remember King Lito from KC? Aka Carlito, solid brother from the 90’s ✊
Can you tell me that place on Lawrence where i can get a sweater please?

Is Gino a original Latin king, and was he a imperial with papo king or was he a skull before becoming a Latin king
Hope it makes sense...
I understand what you mean, Gino wasn’t the same age as say Papo or Kong, he was a shorty when they started the LK’s on Leavitt & Schiller in 1964. However, yea Gino was around all of the founding days.
Nice... Thanks bro...
@@westlove1226very possible he became a imperial before the switch over, had to be like 10 years old, remember the imperials were recruiting young kids that went to that school over there on levitt and Schiller for protection because they was getting bullied by white clubs
Make a video about king papo. I’m sure there’s more out there about his life then what’s on the Internet. Also what’s up with lil rat nowadays. I left him a message on Facebook he don’t answer
