First thing coming inside off the farm every evening was going straight to the bathroom and picking ticks off each other. We'd pile them up on the sidewalk and set fire to them. Mini firecrackers.
Am I the only one that sees danger here? It's snake season so we will ride in this side by side and have the kids pick up trash in the shrubbery. I know you're watching them but the only time you know there's a snake is when you step on it or get too close. Snakes are a master at camouflage.
My cats have brought in mice, birds, snakes, baby rabbits and big bugs of all sorts. It can get a bit nerve rattling at times when surprised by an unexpected critter in the house.
I continue to enjoy your channels and your family. Mel, I admire all that you do and that goes for Gary too. I appreciate Gary's "over-thinking" things and concern for safety as was evidenced when helping David cut down trees. Love you all.
Kids did a great job and had fun doing it. Dogs got their exercise as well. Trees need trimmed as well. Snakes are out big time. Be very careful around the water. What fun the kids were having. They really did an awesome job. The pool looks so cool.♥️🇺🇲
Look at all that young energy. Good for you to utilize that resource and teach the kids at the same time. Too many kids today have no clue about responsibility.
22:16 that is so smart! One suggestion to help with longevity, peal the bark off before you post them. I did the same thing for my garden to keep the dogs out so they don’t destroy my plants. You guys deserve the break. It’s nice to see you guys work hard and play hard as a family!
I appreciate you're channel. I love how different you guys are from Anthony and Roxanne, though I love them and their channel as well ! Each channel brings a different "flavor " and it's amazing to watch ALL four of you grow in skill sets , and in you're minds as confidence continues to grow in each of you ! I think it's absolutely beautiful that both of you're families took a leap of faith and jumped towards what you'll all wanted. THANK YOU ,THANK YOU for sharing with us.
Nice group effort cleaning up the homestead! Mel, you must be relieved thst Gary is doing some grilling after a hard days work.😊 Gary, reminder: if you haven't done so already, be sure to wipe down your seasoning bottles after touching them with raw chicken 'debres' on your hands, salmonilla can spread from raw meat onto anything you touch. 😢 Great job today! 👍
The littles did a good job, love seeing how the dogs join in. BTW- Dogman has some 3 mo old pups that have had their starter vet care....if you know anyone who's interested please let them know.
May I make a hopefully helpful suggestion. Just fence around your chicken area. And then when you're ready to get animals. Just take that rolled fencing and staple it to trees and let the goats and pigs clean out the forest area. Goats like to forage as well as pigs. Kunekune pigs are grass eaters not wallowers. Feeder pigs will also eat the forest stuff. Ohh and when that area is cleaned then you can fence off another area and let the first one regrow so then you can get to pasture rotation. 2-3 goats will clean an acre area pretty good then you can get to some of those smaller cedars and cut them down without the hassle of underbrush.
Hi Mel - Instead of you & Gary running back and forth with branches & wood for the burn pile, why not use a wheel barrel to save you all of those steps in this heat? Remember to Work Smarter, Not Harder.
HELLO 🤗 kids were having a good time cleaning up the property - proud of them 😊 good job Gary and Mel cutting the trees 👌 have fun at expo & safe travels 🙏🇺🇲🥰
They did a great job and I'm sure they were proud of themselves. Great learning experience. I see adults throwing trash out car windows and it makes me sad. We all need to care about our earth. Teach them young.
Seeing you two guiding and instructing the kids on "clean up" day reminds me of my 3 sons when they were young and how I did exactly what you guys are doing with your children. It definitely teaches them to be good stewards of the land. They have in turn taught my grandkids to take care of their surroundings and help others. Good job Gary and Mel. 💖👍💖
You can tell Abraham is his dad's son. The way you were driving through that brush it looked just like a safari. Reminds me of the scavenger hunts we used to do. Seems like the kids had fun doing the search for trash. Wishing you the best of success in all the plans you have for the summer Love you guys
It’s good once and a while to take a drive around and just pick up trash. It’s a good way to teach the kids. You do live in a really beautiful area and just love what you are doing. Love your journey and videos. 👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇦
Cleaning Up is a Great thing to do..KEEPS the Property looks Good. Kids DID Amazing Job! Those cedars make Good fence post, hope it's a Good time to cut SO they last.. Everything reusable is Wonderful too, Save on the Big Bucks of Store bought...God Bless & BE SAFE with SNAKES out, STAY HYDRATED TOO.
Cedar Trees make the best fence post. BUT if you cut them and put them in the ground green (with wet sap still in them) they will rot off in the ground within 20 years. If you let them dry out 6 months to a year, then they’ll last in the ground for 100+ years. I found that out the hard way on my pasture, I cut cedar down and put them in the ground green about 20 years ago and now my Posts are rottening off in the ground. The best thing I couldn’t done was let them dry out first. But I could’ve gotten 5-10 more years outta my posts if I’d have only stripped the bark off them. Probably the best thing you guys can do to make them last 100+ years without letting them naturally dry out..... Is strip the bark off the posts and burn/char in a fire about 2 foot = 24 inches of the bottom. Aka: The part going in the ground and then they’ll never rot. ( I Wish I’d have done that, ugh 😫) But hind sight is 20/20. And I’m telling you this so you don’t make mistakes I did. Because I got several hundred pasture fence posts to replace that rotted in the ground. You’re Making progress on the homestead guys another year or 2 from now you’ll be getting pretty self sufficient & non dependent on the system.
Great way to get the kids invested in their homestead and keeping it nice. Good job parents! Nice to see children enjoying each other's company, playing, talking, and just having a good time. With all the electronics kids are so disconnected from one another. I loved growing up when I did and praying with other kids. It was the best of times.
Nice work for the kids. They are so much fun to watch. I am wondering why every time you have to burn trees or bush, why you do not make a pit to burn? It is a lot safer to burn in the hole than above ground. It is also good for the soil. Look it up.
I can think of a lot of useful stuff you could do with those beautiful flat rocks on the place. At one time every time we were riding around our place we would collect a few at a time until we had enough to do a project. Turned out great for walkways and places for outdoor grilling and furniture. Looked good too.
Next time y’all throw down on the grill and want corn you can put it on the bottom or top rack of the grill. Don’t cut it or peel it. Just throw it on and turn it every now and then. You will know it’s done when all the husk is brown and crunchy on the outside. The hairs slide right off with the husk when you peel it
Gary if you brine those legs in a big bowl of salt water for a few hours and then rub and grill it will change your whole life!! An elderly lady told me and let’s just say juicy!
You still need to clear the trees off the dam so they don't damage it. Trees put holes in the dam and weaken it. Where you have the fishing poles needs to be totally cleared of trees. That whole bank.
Whats with all the commercials?? I have to pickup trash every now n then. The dogs drag stuff out of the burn pile, plus there are always trimmings that need burned too. Its not the heat since you lived in the desert like we did, but the humidity is making things miserable. I am trying to adjust to getting up early to get things done before 10 or 11am!!! Its gonna take awhile!!!!
It's nice to have a built-in labor force that can act like the work is a game.
I love the idea of using the small trees as fence posts 👍💕
The kiddos did a fantastic job picking up the trash
Look up microwaving corn in the shucks. They slide right out of shucks no fibers. You cut the stalk end off before cooking.
Looks like Anthony needs to mow more. Snake danger...
Gotta keep them trails clear❤
Love y'all works never done. Glad you're both young & healthy!!!
The kids did a great job love watching them
** Kids are having a blast!! all the giggles on the ride through the back roads.. =D
Give the kids their own grabbers., They will love picking up the trash with those
Ashes not only good for your garden, your chickens like taking dust baths in them as well. 2 fold purposes. 🤷
AWESOME job kids 👏
That’s how we raise good adults
GREAT JOB
You guys did good today. Safe travels tomorrow😊
GREAT JOB KIDS YOUGUY'S HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND
Looks like a blast/ summer fun
I think it is so cool that the cousins get to live close together and do so much stuff together. What memories they'll make.
Yes early morning & late afternoon.....best working time.....at our age
Get some of the small trees that David cut down so you don't have to work so hard
I am living this dream with you. The area you are working on now would be my goat or sheep area. Just sayin".
I just realized how much the kids have grown, more so with Abe. All are growing like a weed.
When are you guys going continue on working in the house again?
Those Copperhead they wind up in your kitchen 2. Way cooler than Austin Powers. I bet those kids had ticks all over them.😂
First thing coming inside off the farm every evening was going straight to the bathroom and picking ticks off each other. We'd pile them up on the sidewalk and set fire to them. Mini firecrackers.

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
We use that same meat rub! Soooo good!
Jewel weed soap is a natural soap for poison ivy and poison oak and it works great
Great job kids cleaning up. Mel and Gary, do you recycle cans and bottles?
Try soul seasoning on your chicken.
I was waiting to see if you found DD5 Serenity's shoes! 👟 She said she lost her shoes at the 41.36! 😱😜🤣
Nice video 👍👍🇨🇦

Have you tried grilling your corn on the cob?
I call that my dead animal picker upper. My cat occasionally brings a moue or little snake in the house. I’m not touching it.
My cats have brought in mice, birds, snakes, baby rabbits and big bugs of all sorts. It can get a bit nerve rattling at times when surprised by an unexpected critter in the house.
They need on gloves
Ha that's a great way to have kids pick up trash... make it an adventure in the woods 😀👊💥❤️❤️... Great job 👍
Please stay true to yourselves. Don't talk like david

It's all fun until one gets bit by a poisonous snake
That’s what life is all about! Children growing up active and happy! Good job guys! ❤️❤️

Great job getting the kids involved. Safe travels and have another great getaway!! PEACE
Family project but the kids are expending energy. They will sleep well tonight.😂
Good job on teaching the kiddos responsibilities!!! Great job kids!! Proud of you!!!

Time to get the chainsaw out and clear the trail. LOL Sorry, back seat homesteader shutting up now.

Great clean up but kids should have boots on for snakes 🐍 wrap corn in clear wrap with butter microwave 4 mins done 😅
Try BBQ corn on the cob sometime. (Butter, salt ,pepper...BBQ) Mmmmm.
Gary- Just a tip, car brake cleaner is the best thing to use to clean your chainsaw.
Sounds like the kids did a great job, and a great time swimming. Gotta say I love that grill! Have a good weekend guys!
HELLO 🤗 kids were having a good time cleaning up the property - proud of them 😊 good job Gary and Mel cutting the trees 👌 have fun at expo & safe travels 🙏🇺🇲🥰
I love that your instilling chores for your children. Great lesson for keeping the land clean.
* Maybe a good Tic check with the kiddos and the dogs once you get back would be a good idea..
So happy to se a proud man smile about his grill! 😊 I have a long haired apple head chihuahua too, he stays right by me!❤
They did a great job and I'm sure they were proud of themselves. Great learning experience. I see adults throwing trash out car windows and it makes me sad. We all need to care about our earth. Teach them young.

This is a great video. You have the best employees 🙌 👏 ❤️ 👌 ♥️ 💙 🙌 👏 ❤️
I'm very proud of the way u raise ur kids. U have very good parenting skills. Awesome.
I ran over a snake on hwy 109 didn't want to but on coming traffic didn't allow me to get over. I did miss all the turtles.
Great way to get the kids invested in their homestead and keeping it nice. Good job parents!

Awesome job kids 😊 Nice call on the gripper ❤🇨🇦
Kids did an awesome job on the cleanup! I’m glad to see you guys are going to the Okie meetup with some of my other favorite channels😊
Teamwork is very important. I know it’s a lot of work, but you’re family will have so many wonderful memories. ❤
Maybe you’ll find Lyssa’s daughters shoes🤣🤣🤣

Is it just me or is Gary getting getting more handsome? Lol ..😁🇬🇧
I was wondering why not put the male rabbit in the middle for he Could be Between The female Rabbits
Lol. Kids be careful. I then hear a cold snack getting popped open.
how about you guys get a good chipper/shredder and shred all limbs and use as mulch around driveway planting bed pathways
I enjoyed watching the children! They did a great job.
Have you thought of investing in a mulcher? With the size of your property, I see it as a great investment. Just a thought.
You can clip their wings so they can’t fly. If you don’t have time to put a roof on it you know what I mean The netting
Corn on the cob cook on the grill Excellent for the oldsters maybe so good for the youngsters.
Kids helped a lot. Your going to be busy in the next few.
Stay hydrated

Ooh Gary how about you try several of our recipes and do a taste off on the new grill. Good times.
Far from off the grid when you have cancer causing power lines so close!
I love your new Shirt Mel Oh I really love the one with stars, You need metal post for the corners
