Gary Cooper is out of this world gorgeous. I can't decide: Gary or early 1930s Cary? Gary or Gary? Can I have Clark Gable too? Too many damn fine men in classic Hollywood! We need more of them today, not pretty boys!
@hornybodhisattva: Isn't that sad? I read something along the lines of people within Hollywood disapproving of their interracial relationship (including his mother). If anything, they must have been afraid of the uber gorgeous babies they were going to have! Damn I would have shipped them so hard if I were alive back then.
Yes, she is Lupe Velez "The Mexican Spitfire". She started in Hollywood in 1927, making roles with Charley Chase, Laurel & Hardy and Douglas Fairbanks. Here, Gary Cooper and Lupe Velez, are coming to the premiere of their movie "The Wolf Song" (1928), directed by Victor Fleming in the same year.
@ dizzy365 ~ Lupe Velez was Catholic also. Bizarrely, she killed herself because she thought she was a mortal sinner by being pregnant out of wedlock, but did she overlook the fact that suicide is the ultimate mortal sin? DUH!
@elvisnutkid It's funny you say that b/c first I got into Jimmy Stewart movies, then Cary Grant, and now I'm into Gary Cooper movies. Now I can't decide who's my favorite, I guess they all are!
I liked her in Cuban Love song, and I really liked her in the first Mexican Spitfire "The Girl From Mexico" where she sings at that restuarant in New York when she claps her hands...WOW she was remarkable!

Too bad their only film together is hard to find. I'd watch it 10 times! I'd also ship them like crazy
