"You'll Never Walk Alone" is a show tune from the 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel.
In the musical, in the second act, Nettie Fowler, the cousin of the female protagonist Julie Jordan, sings "You'll Never Walk Alone" to comfort and encourage Julie when her husband, Billy Bigelow, the male lead, kills himself to avoid capture during a failed robbery. It is reprised in the final scene to encourage a graduation class of which Louise (Billy and Julie's daughter) is a member. Billy watches this ceremony during his return to Earth.
The song is also sung at association football clubs around the world, where it is performed by a massed chorus of supporters on matchday; this tradition began at Liverpool Football Club in the early 1960s and later spread to several other clubs.[1] - Спорт

I had the pleasure of being at this game,and the return leg at Anfield.The YNWA at both games were incredible,but this one was all the more special for having the great man leading the crowd. It was spine tingling then,and remains so to this day.

sean campbell Sean you must be young , I'm an eighty year old lady and it was Celtic who sang this song first, way back in 1957-58 to the Great singer Perry Como, Liverpool only started singing it in 1963-64 when Gerry @ the Pacemakers recorded it. I was going to see the Bhoys way back then and as I now live in England I still come up to paradise when I can to watch my team.hail hail.
