    Great video Doc. Do you get any concerns with abdominal compartment syndrome during the post op period once such a redundant part of the colon commonly sigmoid or transverse gets pushed back without any resection?
    Weve witnessed it in our patients and have been forced to sometimes resect with noted better outcomes.. Your opinion will be helpful. Thanks again.

      Most patients don't have such loss of domain that they risk having abdominal compartment syndrome in our experience.

    Great job. Is that the only reason fat is kept to prevent bleeding or does it have any other uses?

    Very interesting video. However, I'am wondering if those tissues are alive, because the patient is not bleeding at all during the dissection of the hernia

      Franck, Yes, the patient was alive before, during and after the surgery. Best, CAHS

      Hi. I suffered with incarcerated hernia for six months until I had to be sent for emergency surgery last week. Now I'm watching these videos and I'm in total shock of what had to be done. But now, 7 days after the surgery I already feel much better. And I'm eating a whole wider range of food.
      Don't be afraid. You deserve to be better. All the best.

    1. How long will that mesh last?
    2. I had a hernia like this in my right testicle but at first i was having enlarged scrotum then some other time of the day it goes back to its original size then it reached a point where it was permanently enlarged, why was that?
    And thanks for the great video

      Hernia repairs have a 1-2% chance of recurring after initial surgery, but 98-99% chance of being a permanent repair. Some hernias eventually get incarcerated where the bowel or fat cannot reduce.

    Was a patient put to sleep with general anesthesia or was it local anesthesia?

    • @CaliforniaHerniaSpecialists
      @CaliforniaHerniaSpecialists  Рік тому

      Ev-Tech, Most of our patients (99%) are under general anesthesia for their hernia repairs. That would certainly be the case for a large scrotal hernia like this. Best, CAHS

    Does the scrotum size reduce after surgery

    • @CaliforniaHerniaSpecialists
      @CaliforniaHerniaSpecialists  Рік тому

      Yes, swelling and bruising ultimately dissipate within weeks to months. For some very large hernias like this it can take many months. There are some before/after pictures on our website under 'Recent case highlights'.

      just got one aswell, asked my buddy who got one a couple years ago and I guess it’s normal, the scrotal sac is stretched from the hernia so it’ll stay like that unfortunately

      Plustwo, Having swelling and bruising after surgery is 100% normal and will resolve in days/weeks. Best, CAHS

    Why isn't all the fat trimmed off? Seems like a lot of it is viseral and wouldn't it be unessesary anyways?

    • @CaliforniaHerniaSpecialists

      Andrew, Removing additional tissues increases risks of bleeding and is avoided in most cases. Best, CAHS
