- DSI Poly Evolver music tribute to Dave Smith, founder of Sequential Circuits (1950-2022). Dave suddenly and tragically passed away on May 31, 2022 and I felt compelled to compose this music in honor of his legacy. This synthesizer performance uses the 12-voice Dave Smith Instruments Poly Evolver, one of his most unique synths.
My condolences to Dave's family, Sequential, fans and all who loved his work. A legend has left us, and there are no words. Thank you Dave for everything you've done for music, the synth world and beyond -- you will be forever missed, and your legacy will never be forgotten. Rest in peace.

This is the crown jewel. Amazing what DS achieved.
It is incredible and won various technical achievement awards when released, thanks to Dave's work. It's easy to see (and hear) why.
This is my favorite video on UA-cam.
Thank you Riley, I appreciate that.
I come back to this video when I’m feeling depressed and it helps 😳 thank you
Glad it helps you work through things when you need to.
this is really special
Thanks so much Lorn, I'm honored you stopped by to leave a comment. I wanted to pay homage to Dave's legacy best I could, and the Poly Evolver felt a fitting way to do that. He will be missed.
My favorite synth of all time
RIP Dave…
Thanks to Dave, Poly Evolver is amazing.
Wonderful piece. Thanks for the technology Dave and rest in peace. You WILL be remembered 🎹❤️
❤
It's beautiful how so much music got created just for this event. Rest in peace Dave.
Thanks, it was a very sad event generated a lot of emotion for many. Tried to express it through music. RIP Dave.
Nice tribute. Another great loss. Way too many these past weeks.
Thank you. Yes, it's been a terrible year.
A masterpiece from the master of synths himself! This is one of the most beautiful synths ever made IMHO. I am a proud owner of one myself. Fully upgraded with the new boards. This thing can sing! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, and thanks to Dave for creating this unique and beautiful synth.
The best DSI synth ever. Thank you for keeping the legend alive.
Thank you for the comment. Dave will never be forgotten and the Poly Evolver remains one of his most unique creations.
This should have been performed at his funeral.
Thank you
❤😔
❤️✌️
Very nice! many voices of DSI legacy there
Thank you.
Beautiful music. Thx for the tribute to a remarkable force in the keyboard realm over the last 4+ decades.
Thanks for the comment, appreciate it.
Beautiful. Rip Dave
Thanks my friend.
Beautiful patch! Makes me want to upgrade my mono keyboard for a poly
But ouch the price! Still worth it more than any Synths coming out these days bar the hydra synth!
Thank you. Poly Evolver remains unique to date.
Thank you for this great Tribute to a great master!!
Thank you, I wanted to pay my respects as best I could.
Nice Tribute. RIP DAVE
Thank you.

Je t’aime pour l’éternité et toutes mes condoléances à sa famille et ses proches
Thank you for sharing. His spirit and legacy will live on through his creations, beautiful instruments.
Dave was a legend! Thanks for this lovely tribute which had escaped me until today. Hoping Sequential will re-release the poly evolver one day, but with 8 or 12 voices.
Thank you for the kind words. Not sure what will happen with the Poly Evolver, but it is certainly one of Dave's most unique synths from the early DSI days.
RIP Dave. I love my Polyevolver and his little brother. Still among the best sounding, unique and versatile synths ever produced, imho.
Yes, Poly Evolver is still unique to date. Fantastic sounds, especially with 4 oscs + stereo filters.
God bless Dave Smith, rest in peace
Very nice..
Thank you.
What a divine sound! I remember the first time I saw Prophet 5 in my life. Monster synth. It was sitting in the musical instrument section of a department store in Osaka. It had an expensive price tag that was overwhelmingly wrapped around with vinyl wrapping. In other words, no one was allowed to touch or see it directly. It became a hot topic why it was so expensive. Someone told me this. This is because the VCO and wiring are made of pure gold. Everyone was convinced. It's about Japan. There were Yamaha and Roland showrooms nearby. I was able to touch both Jupiter and DX7. But Prophet 5 was a superstar. Thank God. I am happy to be born in the same age.
Thank you for the comment. Although this isn't a Prophet 5, it still sounds great. P5 is beautiful and legendary, of course.
It's a looker that is for sure. Even the Evolver logo was cool. All the movement in it.
It is a beautiful synth, the aesthetics are lovely.
Great sound. One of his best synths besides the VS
Thank you. It is certainly a lovely instrument.
Best DSI instrument
It is certainly impressive. All thanks to Dave's genius.
Damn, I really didn't see that one coming :(
It was so sudden, very tragic... :(
We should enjoy Dave Rossum and Tom Oberheim while we still have them. Don Buchla, Bob Moog, and Dave Smith are legends now.
Yes, they are also legends in their own right. I hope they continue to be with us for as long as possible.
Even I caught wind of Dave Smith's recent unexpected passin'. Such a heart wrenchin' thing to go through. I know you've visited the world headquarters of DSI (now Sequential) and seen his office. I really hoped you'd have an opportunity to meet Dave himself one day and and show him your Demos on you DSI Poly Evolver. That was certainly an excellent tribute. Even that I'm sure Dave woulda loved.
Thank you for the heartfelt comment. I did visit DSI/Sequential a few years ago for a tour, and again when the PRO 3 came out. Although Dave wasn't there at the time, his presence was everywhere. We will all miss him dearly.
👌🫶🏼👏🏼👏🏼bravo!!
Thanks
