What if....Apple Alternate History

- What if Apple went bankrupt? What if Steve Jobs never returned to the company? We will never know how things would have played out, but we can be certain things would have been a lot different.
I have never been more excited to share a video with you. HUGE thank you to everyone who helped make it possible.

I had a blast making this one. It's definitely the most ambitious video I've ever been a part of. If you want to see the series continue with another company, hit that like button.

You have truly mastered the skill of delivering quality video content that is entertaining and content that people truly care about. Thanks again Jon!
Loved the commentary and quality of the video. Would definitely love to see more of this kind of content!

I'm a total Android fan but I would never dare to deny the impact that Apple had on the smartphone industry. I don't think there would even be an Android without the iPhone.

Holy crap this is unreal. Amazing work to the entire team!! This is production goals on an entirely new level.
I don’t think anybody knows this is Snazzy Labs 😂
Bonnie Dawson it literally says “Snazzy Labs” on the top of the comment.
This is what happens when you join #TeamCrispy I just wanna meet all them so bad, maybe Jon will let me wear his dope sneakers haha. Their studio is just that a studio, it doesn’t look like a UA-cam set at all.

I knew you would like this!
Man.... WHAT A MASTERPIECE! Congrats Jon, this video - a whole new level on our tech comunity!
Hugs from a fan from Brazil!

Never seen a creator take such a leap in quality like you have. Your old stuff was good, but this is top tier.
That mocked up phone looks kind of badass tbh
The production quality on your videos has surpassed professional.
This video is extremely well put together! I love the concepts presented and how they're conveyed.
Great job Jon, Courtney, JD, Matt, Ralph, Robert, & Steve!

Great work man! I'm in to see more 👊🏽
Thank you man!!!
BlackBerry??? Nokia was a KING of the phones at that time.
Nothing even come close to Nokia at that time.
🤦🏼♂️Americans won't think out of their country. They talk like or pretend Civilization doesn't exist outside their country. If they say the king, the biggest, greatest of the world they are talking about the American world.
Yeah, they are ignorant asf lol.
@@SS-mi2lk Americans are so narrow minded. It's the same when I hear them talking about electric cars, like there is no Australia or Eastern Europe. Remember when there was no touchscreen smartphones, Japanese people used to watch TV on the go.
Never seen a blackberry irl here in Sweden. Nokia and Sony Ericsson ruled here before Android and iOS came.
@@Devletyan Same in Asian. Sony and Nokia were absolutely dominating the market. Only few " business guys" had blackberry.
Thanks for allowing me to be a part of the creation Jon! will properly check the video out in a moment!

@@akrambf2184 I have not.
If Apple went bankrupt we’d still have a headphone jack :(
Ben Harris thats the reason why i have 6s.
Youre saying none of these other companies would have ripped the bandaid either?
Fabeaux I don’t know. That is the thing i am wondering 🤔🤔🤔
Lets explore two universes
Apple removes headphone jack first
Apple users - They're so innovative, way to take a risk apple.
Android users - BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, good luck with that.
Any android device removes headphone jack first
Apple users - Not sure actually, I personally would just realize how little, if ever, I use mine.
Android users - Apple and iPhones are always 3-4 years behind us, they're just copying what we've done.
Point is, it was gonna go away anyway. just a matter of who did it and when. I have 2 pairs of wired headphones. one is for DJing. the other is for monitoring audio when im recording in the field. as far as tech goes, the wireless headphones out now and even the ones out 3-4 years ago, are all great, I have no problem with going full wireless.
Egg walter dude it was a joke calm it , also Apple didn’t invent oled and they get their screens from other companies like Samsung
You should’ve named the video what if Apple never created the iPhone.
Agreed, I was expecting a completely different video.
But it made you click on it right?
If you honestly think this was just about the iPhone, you really didn't pay attention 🙄
Totally agree, was specting something very different! ..
Dude this might be the best video on the internet. It's so cool that someone as mainstream as you is making a video about the actual history of tech and giving normal viewers a new perspective. Excellent storytelling, cinematography and overall video. Definitely loved it. Been a subscriber since the lakers days and I will be forever! :)
This was incredible. What an amazing concept and execution! Great job to you and the team!
Thank you man!
Wow! Not what I expected when I first clicked on this video. This was SO well done. The production quality is unparalleled for what you usually see on youtube. The choice of music, transitions, camera angles/ideas, as well as storytelling are reminiscent of top tier movies. Well done! Keep videos like these coming!
Of all people you had MKBHD on the iPhone LMAOOOOO!
Loading... I felt it was a good choice 👍
@Irfaan Faki He's pretty much the face of the Tech community. Especially to the eyes of mainstream media.
You know he uses both iPhone and android right?
@@radiospines So the biggest illiterate in tech is the face of tech?
@@vladlu6362 yes, if you consider that majority is tech illiterate
This was one of your best videos, if not the best video you've ever made. The editing, filming and concept were incredibly entertaining and such an eye candy to watch! Well done, Jon!
As a photographer/filmmaker I can appreciate the time and effort that went into this short film/longer video but not only do I appreciate it, I love the way it came out. The aesthetics and visuals are crispy AF and it's just such a well thought out and constructed video. Absolutely love the concept and execution of it all! Great video Jon 👍🏻
As a video producer at a television station, filmmaker and photographer I have to whole heartedly agree with you. This is some pretty sick work. Camera movement is insane.
This is NEXT LEVEL Jon. LOVED IT. The angles, the fades...the documentary style. GREAT video.
Rettinger is a legend. The video quality is pure 🔥
That was INCREDIBLE, Jon. Really looking forward to the Google one!
Thank you Justin!!
This was one of the better 20 minutes of my life I have used. Thanks a lot!
You do what few others do. You keep reinventing yourself and keep your content fresh, creative and innovative. You're not choosing the "easy" road and that's refreshing. Well done, really enjoyed this.
Not gonna lie, that phone mock-up actually looked pretty cool!
SUPER VIDEO AND AUDIO QUALITY mate!
The Nokia N800 came out in in 2007 before the iphone and the Nokia N900 came out about two years after, so even without the iphone or even android it's pretty safe to assume that modern smartphones wouldn't be too far from what they are now, apart from maybe less adoption and application choice.
Your comment deserve to be on top. This guy made a video as NOKIA never existed. Usual American, who talks like America is the whole world. He even said Blackberry is the biggest (which is also American) which was far below Nokia in market share, technology & innovation. Even cellular network we use today is created by Nokia.
Agreed. I saw a few inaccuracies in the info provided, and I also don't agree on how the present would look hadn't Steve Jobs stole IP from Xerox. Still, it's an enjoyable video and it shows Jon's view. And there's nothing wrong with that.
He Didn’t really talk about the App Store either.
Disagree. I think it would be a mess sure aspects would be similar today but it would be a sloppy fragmented mess.
Nokia N series and communicator line was marketed for business use. Apple was going after everybody - just like Sony with Walkman. They were cool despite all the rough edges. They did things Nokia refused despite having the capability.
Reading the comments, I wonder if I saw the same video as other people.
Apple just hit a Trillion dollars Yesterday
Apple has lost a trillion dollars a minute after you posted this lol
ua-cam.com/video/WgLchWLEYCo/v-deo.html
Yes, I saw the news headline. Actually it was 1 Trillion Dollars and 1 penny.
@@TechUnboxingVideos ----- When the Apple stock price is over 217.23 they are over a trillion. Last year in October the price started going down rapidly. However if you've been buying since Jan 3rd, you have made out like a bandit. The stock went from 142 in Jan up to 225 yesterday.

Instead of blackberry. I really think palm would take apple place. With is palm os they would changed the view of smartphone of today
I still think the Palm Pré looks like an amazing phone to this day. They were way ahead of their time.

The production value of this was out of this world good. Fantastic cinematics; especially the transitions!

The video quality is just superb! I appreciate the time you spent to make this video! Keep it up with this kind of video!
Yo Jon. This is really really great video... thanks for this
Best UA-cam video. From the production to the history lesson. If there was an award show for UA-cam tech videos, you definitely deserve one for this
Jon your ability to tell a story through video is incredible. I know this project took you a long time to finish, but I think the final product speaks for itself. The wait for this was definitely worth it! Keep the amazing videos coming!
EverydayTechnology agreed
Very well produced Jon! You guys did a great job!
Wait... Touch screen keyboards existed way before Apple. I remember using a landline with touch -numeric inputs in 2006
Shhhh the public can't know that Apple doesn't create new things. It's bad for marketing.
Suraj Grewal Touchscreens always existed way before iPhone but they were capacitive and worked based on pressure and required a stylus and were fairly inaccurate. The iPhone didn’t invent the touchscreen, but it indeed did invent the new class of touchscreens we’re now used to...ones that aren’t capacitive & that don’t require styluses and work beautifully with your fingers with a UI that’s designed with a human finger in mind.
Even then, LG had capacitive touch first. With their release of LG Prada. And if you look closely, the UI of modern phones isn't a lot different.
Apple couldn't even become the first users of any technology ever. The point is, we would still have almost the same modern phones even if Apple never existed
This is not just a UA-cam video, this is a documentary and history. Well done. Great job.
Anyone from the stream?
Bro you knocked it out of the park with this video. It was amazing and so much fun to watch. Thanks Jon for continuing to evolve your content!
The video production is way too professional for UA-cam. Great job! 👍🏾
I’m an iOS Developer. To even think about the idea that my actual life would have been drastically different had Steve Jobs not gone back to Apple or had Apple no introduced the iPhone is quite a frightening experience. Crazy how everything just sort of fits in when you look back at things that happened even before you were even born.
Insanely great video by the way Jon. Really loved the unique style. Can’t wait for part 2. 🙏
Leather chair and TV with white background very Matrix 😁👌👍👏
I've been watching you since you first started making videos but none of them... and I mean NONE of them have never been this GOOD. This video and the content is next level. Your vids are always good but this is great!

Holy crap, Jon... This is insane! Definitely the up there amongst the best video you've ever made. Amazing aesthetics, incredible execution, awesome concept. Awesome. ALL the thumbs up, dude. ALL of them!
Pressed like after 20 seconds of watching this. Videography and story telling is really good.
Wow I’ve been watching Jon since 2008 and I can truly say it is awesome to see his shift from the guy reviewing iPhones by himself in the bedroom to this type of video. So cool man props
That’s not just a tech review, That’s just an ART👏🏼
No idea how much that means. Thank you.
Probably the best video I’ve seen in a long time. More like a mini documentary that was well written and executed! Loved it!
Anyone else considering buying that mockup if it existed? Looks Incredible!
That was 19 minutes and 20 seconds of utter captivation. So beautifully and artfully done. Bravo.
Ok I’m 5 minutes in and I have to comment. Great video. You have very quickly become my fav tech youtuber. I have followed you since before htc evo but you have really broken away from the pack. Well done. 👏🏼

@@jon4lakers You're welcome!
Now imagine Steve Ballmer still ranting about developers after fifteen years...
Well done, Jon. It looks like you really did enjoy making this. Apple has an amazing history, and they definitely shaped the tech world.
Nice attempt but never went in-depth with research about other phone companies who were very innovative in the 90s. There was Symbian OS after all.
I could be just making a lot of assumptions, but I think Technobuffalo became so big, it inevitably suppressed you and your creativity, John. Being untethered, you are now free to experiment and frankly, you knocked this one out of the ball park. As someone who has been watching you on and off for years, Thank you.
Cinematography + tech videos/reviews are my dirty little secret visual pleasure
now im thinking Jon will inspire other youtubers to make such high quality videos as well, really high quality videos my man, i think now you are moving above mkbhd in terms of content quality. keep up the good work man
I *WANT* that phone at the end there!
Wow, the production quality on this is amazing. Really liking the documentary style videos, and this one took it to a whole new level!
They are selling you the same goddamn phone over and over again for years
bro, that blackberry phone you designed is absolutely sick. For those who don't know blackberry OS was a beast. RIP.
Great production quality... but feels like you hardly explored what might’ve been if apple had bankrupted.
Yes HP/IBM/Compaq would’ve been bigger.
Yes blackberry or windows phones may be a bigger thing now.
But let’s get crazy! That first scene where MKBHD talks about a Polaroid Phone was great!! Can you imagine what that would’ve looked like? Maybe phones that popped out little 4x4 cm Polaroid photos?
Or what if there was a Kodak phone dominating mobile camera industry?
What if Palm PDAs never died off from apple & instead we were on the 15th gen Palm Pilot?
Would Linux have taken over as the true alternative PC OS to Windows? How would that change today’s computing landscape?
So many fascinating avenues to explore... while this video seemed to focus on praising Apple & rehashing the same Steve Jobs / history of Apple story that’s been told over & over.
Beautiful cinematography... just would love to see deeper explorations of alternate timelines.
My thoughts exactly.
That sounds like the abstract of a whole documentary series, not a 20-minute youtube video. 🙂 Still, would love see that!
Also, what if Commodore ended up ruling the home computer market? That would be an interesting timeline to dig in!
I think Polaroid worked on one of the first consumer digital camera, but shelved it...
Production value of this video is over 9000
