I love these locos! Being a fan of UK stock, I prefer the elegance of our designs, but engines like this really are gorgeous. It was quite the revelation when I discovered that the battery-operated tin plate train I had as a child was in fact modeled on these very locos! Where does this loco live btw?
There are four left 3801 being the only in operation 3 of them including 3801 are preserved at the nsw railway museum a.k.a thirlmere 3813 still exists…….. not at thirlmere and in peices
@@Kai01191-t homeboy I hate you rain on your parade but they’re mad ugly. they’re too big, too chunky, too crowded. plus with the exception of 611 pretty much every USA locomotive looks identical, and that’s not a good thing
@@yourfriendlyneighbourhoodb2688 i don't exactly think they all look the same its just that the ones that were saved from scrap were mostly built from the same manufacturer
The 38 Pacific class was all Australian manufactured in three local centres. First released in 1943 only five had the bullet like streamlined nose out of 30 produced.
3801 was famous for a timed speed run hauling the Newcastle Flyer back in 1964. Under perfect conditions with fully syncronised conditions and a clear schedule it recorded just a tad over two hours. There were no devices like modern day radar but it is believed it reached a speed of 160kph on the flatest and straightest section of that route. The time for the run has since been broken by an XPT train. You will find lots of detail documented online.

Similar in India🇮🇳? 🟢 Green-coloured steam locomotive? When? And which place (in India)? I am Indian (born in 1974), and I myself am a steam-locomotive lover, but never heard or seen (not even in photographs or in any Indian movie) of any "GREEN🟢 COLOURED" steam engine? And service of steam goddesses in India had been terminated in 1997. Then in which place this sort of engines used to run?🏃💨 LOL By the way, are you messing up with WP models (which were called Canadians in common colloqual terms by general public over here)? If yes, still those (i.e. those locomotives) were dark ladies, never displayed with green robes.

The lad on the regulator is a scientist , he backs off slightly just as she starts to slip and then piles it back on as she grips. Perfect.
"I am the traction control!"
Listening to this with headphones on sent a shiver down my spine whew!
It's pretty cool!
Highly recommended if you suffer erectile dysfunction
Awesome . . . Both locomotives looked fantastic!
this locomotive sounds like in movies, I'm glad to see it in your video...

Looks similar like WP class of The Indian railways

So did this baby pass or fail? And was there a purpose to running this test at night rather than daytime?
Passed easily from what I understand. It was run at night to cause less disruption to the rail network.
@@acs108 OK well Thank You. I know as little about steam locomotives as I am fascinated by them!
It's cool
Super
Nice! I'm new to this. Is that a diesel loco on the back in case she breaks down?
They were pressure testing it after an overhaul on a long gradient that is just north of Sydney.
Yep. I don't know if it's a requirement for it to run on the mainline that it has a diesel as well nowadays but there always seems to be one.
@@acs108 A dummy load and back up perhaps.
how fast can this loco go
To be honest I'm not sure.
