  • 🫓🔥🥘Bethy offers a Holy Week devotional for kids on the Last Supper and what it means to take communion. We remember what Jesus has done for us when He died on the cross to pay for our sins. This Easter week devotional is designed to be used at home by parents who would like to make this Holy week special for their kids. It can also be a great resource for Sunday school teachers looking for some support for their lesson, Matthew 26:26-28, Mark 14:22-24, Luke 22:19-20.

    🫓🔥🥘Questions for Further Discussion:
    1) What holiday were Jesus and the Disciples eating together?
    2) What special foods did they eat?
    3) What were the Jewish people remembering at Passover?
    4) What did Jesus ask us to remember?
    5) How are we supposed to remember it?
    6) What's it called when we remember what Jesus did on the cross for us in church together and eat a little bread and drink a little juice?
    7) What does it mean to take communion?

    Lesson Notes:
Here are the instructions for this lesson so you can reproduce it for your kids or class.
    Materials:
-Your Bible bookmarked to Luke 22:19-20
-Bowl, spoon, rolling pin, plastic wrap, wax paper, pan, heat source (burner or hot stone in the oven)
    🫓-Unleavened Bread ingredients:
    -4 cups flour
    -1 teaspoon salt
    -7 Tablespoons of melted butter
    -1 1/2 cups warm milk
-a little extra flour for rolling
-about 2 Tablespoons of olive oil
    -Grape Juice (optional)
    Directions:
-Begin telling the story of the last supper
-Talk about Passover and the type or shadow that it is of Christs perfect sacrifice.
    -Read Luke 22:19-20
🫓Help kids remember Jesus's sacrifice on the cross for us by making unleavened bread.
    1. Combine butter and milk and warm in the microwave until butter is just melted
    2. combine flour, salt, butter and milk.
    3. knead for a few min until smooth
    4. let rest for about 30 min. covered with plastic wrap (for best results) but if you need to let it rest less it will still work.
    5. Cut dough into 8 to 10 pieces.
    6. with a piece of wax paper on the table, take one portion of the dough and roll it out.
    7. as you let it rest for about 1 min. heat a pan on the stove lightly brushed with olive oil.
    8. roll it out a second time.
    9. place the 2x rolled unleavened, or flatbread on the med. heat pan and cook it for about 1 min.
    10. flip with a fork and cook on the other side for about 1 min.
(optional) brush or spray bread with olive oil to give them a glossy look.
-While you are cooking, ask the questions from the lesson and get your class to engage by responding to what they learned. Particularly, that they would be able to apply these truths to their lives.
-Break and eat the unleavened bread together and drink the grape juice together. Talk about what you are doing and what we remember when we are taking communion.
-For another idea, look up this same lesson from another Gospel, Matthew 26:26-28 or Mark 14:22-24.
All Scriptures were taken out to the ESV (English Standard Version) of the Bible.
