Buffalo, New York. Started following a couple months back and now finishing my 3rd job. Following your footsteps. Started as a GC, then moved into recon and now in mitigation. Great work keep it up!
Hire an experience bill collector who does it because they enjoy the challenge. I've been in collections for 25 years, I adjust ONLY actual errors in Xactimate or any invoicing. our yearly average adjustment is less than 4%
None of this works on tpa insurance program work. Yes, if you own your company and grab your own leads and the home owner signs, they can go with you. But if on a program, you follow their rules. As well, this is why the rules are so strict. Because gouging. Sure you charge your own price as a business, but when 50x can do it, for less and better or more for worse, that's why insurance is there and they fight for the price. If coverage is only $10k for a small mold job, and it cost us $7k to do, the other $3k can be applied towards recon. If you hire someone else because you wanted to and decline the program, and that person charges you $15k because it's their business, you as the home owner now owe $5k and by the sounds of it, you'd be quick to put a lien on their house. You can do steady carrier work on a program, still make a profit, do good work and leave people happy in beautiful homes when you finish recon (if your also a gc.)
I have been sending mody scope for a few months now but still, they send it to a third party for review and they only pay based on xactimate How would you get around those?
You don't need Xactimate to use their same pricing. Always have them submit their estimate to you first, and then go off of that pricing and utilize it in your invoice. But the key is to tell the adjuster thank you, please issue the payment, then immediately take that cash off the table, and then you can always go back and argue pricing in the supplement portion before closing the claim, all you have to do is say "great thank you Mr. Adjuster, issue the payment and I will let you know if anything else comes up."
I’m just getting my water damage off the ground I’ve been doing mold for awhile I’m about to get wrt cert but my question is if you don’t use xactimate how do you come up with the pricing?
DO NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATE OR PRICING TO INSURANCE. Let them submit their estimate which will include pricing they are expecting, then agree and ask them to issue payment, and then you can always go back and argue the price if you feel the price should be higher than what they put in estimate. But ALWAYS take any money you can get from the insurance off the table right away. Whoever has the cash in these situations, will dictate the entire terms and expectations and project scope.

I have been sending mody scope for a few months now but still, they send it to a third party for review and they only pay based on xactimate

I had the same experience... and then it takes longer for them to pay because they don't know what to do with it.
What is an EMS report?
I love it's like a sexist or racist comment for them. lmao Your the best Shane. You entertain while you educate.

Isnt having xactmate a plus for getting adjusters on your side for refeerels?

Xactimate is the devil! 🤣 Does insurance still try to negotiate after you send your non xactimate scope?
Thats the real question!
Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.
The difference is that they can't use the same old arguments with our muddyscope.
Try it... you will like it!
