When you stop to consider all the great music Randy Bachman is responsible for, you have to admit, he's as good as anyone who's ever done it. A major and exceptional talent!
Loved them back in the day and till play their vinyl now, wonderful rockers and hard to beat some of the wonderful melodies let alone the lyrics, thanks for this.
This video doesn't do BTO justice! Back in high school (75-77), BTO were one of the most popular bands around. During our high school lunch period the school would hire local bands to entertain us and every band always had at least one BTO song in their repertoire. ☮
Maybe get someone that has a little personality to do these pieces about people we all know and liked, this guy was just reading like he was doing a 7th grade report!
Randy Bachman was a founding member of The Guess Who. Gary Peterson was the original drummer of The Guess Who and did a short stint in BTO from 1983 to 1986.
Bad ass band had no idea they tried to hold a high moral standard with songs like stay awake all night. And down down we all go down and not fragile. Kind of heavy for the time.
BTO was better than Kiss ever was ! Kiss was nothing more than a gimmick, and overwhelming hype. BTO was a real rock band, and a damned good one, at that !
And Randy Bachman ripping off the band (as in contracts) didn't help. Just ask Robbie Bachman, he talked about it in great detail. Respect Randy Bachman as a rock guitarist, but ripping off your bandmates, and especially your brother, is pretty fucking low !
The one thing this video needs more than anything is a decent narrator. I got about two minutes in and I had to stop. This guy is rushing through what he’s saying, does not enunciate very well at all, and trips over his own tongue way too many times.
I thought it was very cool of McDonald's to put out the "B T O Meal"(for a limited time). The meal...was nothing special, but it was the thought that counts. Some other supposed artists had meals, as well(Saweetie, Travis Scott, etc...)but I have never heard of them.
Only 2 major hits . TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS was very good . The earthiness of CREEDENCE , but with with no swamp rock flavor . More of a primitive stomp , like BLACK SABBATH without the spookiness . Crazily , this song still sounds good today . Extra points for being part of the GUESS WHO musical family .
What did they have 1 or 2 songs that anyone remembers? Guess Who members in the band and they also had a couple of hits, American Woman only one I remember back in the day.
These complaints about the narrator.... really? How many people are giving these order bands the time of day. Anyone shining the spotlight on these older bands deserves some praise.
Then why on earth would you listen to this? Oh, ya, you just like being a negative troll and need to let everyone know what you don’t like. Problem is: no one cares what you like or don’t like.
BTO was terrible. I saw them as headliner with Aerosmith and Stories. Both bands much better show. We left after the first BTO song. Randy B. should have stayed with the Guess Who. He couldn't deal the fact that Cummins was the better songwriter and musician.
Slow down and speak clearly. Enunciation. Ever heard of it? You also might want to do some fact checking. Oh, and it's pronounced Re-preeze not Reprise.
I'm from the city of Leeds in England. BTO are one of my favourite all time bands I have all six of their first studio albums also a box set with two additional albums. For some reason over here they never had any real success. Ain't seen nothing yet reached the top 20 here and not fragile also entered the album charts. I have Bachmann and turner's 2010 relise, Randy's Heavy blues album and a 40th anniversary album. Why they never hit the spot here is a mystery to me because rock music in the 70s was very popular here. I still play em regularly and love em. God bless Canada!!
milt You are correct. When Bachman was in the Silvertones, which later became the Guess Who, Young was in the Squires. This was around 1963 or 1964. Neil said the Silvertones were the biggest band in Winnipeg and that he would go to see them play because of Randy. Young didn't meet up with Ricky James Matthews until a year or two later and that is when Neil, at the urging of his friend, Joni Mitchell, and Mynah Birds Bassplayer, Bruce Palmer, joined the band in Toronto. But Randy was a huge influence on Neil, largely because of the way Bachman did his Solos.
I’m so glad I’m seeing other comments talking about how this guy mumbles like crazy. The visual was so great but you should’ve gotten someone else to speak over it since you mumble so much
Dude, you should not be narrating videos. While it is clear you can read, and do it well, you are an awkward narrator. the flow is bad. Hire someone more suited to it.
if you're gonna have a youtube channel why can't you work on pronouncing your words so they can be easily understood? I cant understand a wor you say and if it sounds important I have to rewind and listen several times. You talk like an excited 5 year old.
I tapped out @ 5:50. Take it as constructive criticism, but this is unintelligible. Can’t understand what I can’t understand. Consider a re-do given your topic is of interest to some of us out here.
I really do enjoy your videos. They are very good! But I do have trouble understanding you. Please speak more distinctly, and maybe slow down a bit. I would really appreciate it!
It is BACK-man and he was kicked out of The Guess Who after lying and saying he was ill but was actually producing an album for the Winnipeg band The Mongrels. The other 3 voted to kick him out and called Kurt and Greg to join them on tour.
Last saw them in Vancouver in 88ish at 86 Street. Blew the lid off the place. Bryan Adam's and a few of his banf joined them for jam in taking care of business. Damn. Loud or what Glasses flying chairs place went nuts
Yes, this is unlistenable due to the narrator's inability to pace himself and enunciate his words. It is very difficult to discern what you are saying. If you have a friend who can read at a listenable pace and knows how to correctly pronounce the English language then ask him to narrate for you. Your channel will go nowhere until you either get another narrator or take some lessons in speaking English properly. It is not just a simple jump into media from everyday life.
The Narrator was horrible. Was he trying to break some vocal speed record? He was hard to follow.I just bagged it and started to read the comments.I really liked BTO. They still are played on Philly Radio Stations.
As a 51 yr old drummer who played in bands all through my 20's and who lived the life as well, I can't imagine being in a multi-million selling band in the 70's and not being allowed to drink, do drugs or have sex lol! Good band - horrible touring situation. What was on their rider? Kool Aid and Poptarts? I woulda quit - no way!!
Hey. To have a successful band, it takes everybody tuned into the same radio station. Some people could party and not let ot get out of hand. Some people can't. I am 59 and my drinking and drugging usually gave me bad results. That's why I don't do it anymore it was tough at first. But after a while I liked being sober more
????... A song, from about !973, about California sliding off into the Pacific. The only verse I remember is " ...dock your boat in Idaho." A fun song, that came out around the time of Jim Stafford's, "Wild Woods Flower.". Thusly, who, what, when...? I can't seem to find it. (With folks still fearing it will happening... Even, some wanting it to happen. Damn!).
You must respect and admire Randy for keeping his faith and morals in that period of time and industry he worked in.
This could have been real interesting but I can't understand anything the narrator is saying.
He is obviously a 14 year old with acne just learning to read and has zero clues about the subject at hand.
Haha, it's not just me. He'll figure it out.
Yeah, he's awful, he can't even read smoothly. Its unfortunate.
Agreed too bad great topic..
Hes trying
Saw them back in the late 70s. They played HARD + LOUD. Never a disappointment. ✌
Kind of a BTO where most of them played together at night club in greenwood village after a show in Denver in 76'
When you stop to consider all the great music Randy Bachman is responsible for, you have to admit, he's as good as anyone who's ever done it. A major and exceptional talent!
Dude, need to slow down and enunciate when you speak. Hard to understand many of you key words.
I agree.
Mouth full o' marbles
Boy what an accent words run into one another, bit like a woodpecker
it's a little tough for me to follow him too.
Loved them back in the day and till play their vinyl now, wonderful rockers and hard to beat some of the wonderful melodies let alone the lyrics, thanks for this.
BTO was deemed worthy the most blue-collar rock band I know. And continues to be that exact musical truth.
This video doesn't do BTO justice! Back in high school (75-77), BTO were one of the most popular bands around. During our high school lunch period the school would hire local bands to entertain us and every band always had at least one BTO song in their repertoire. ☮
I'm a child of the 70s and they were a major part of the musical background of my life.
I looooooove this group
"BTO" didn't even play as fast as this guy talks.
Saw them in Michigan with the then upcoming Bob Seger as the back up act; both were great.
I saw the same pairing. Although, Seger was third on the bill. That's one guy who surely paid his dues!
Audio needs redo.
This could have been interesting if you would stop mumbling into the microphone. I couldn't understand 75% of what you were talking about.
Meanie
Maybe get someone that has a little personality to do these pieces about people we all know and liked, this guy was just reading like he was doing a 7th grade report!
Boomer needs to clean his ears out
Dude puts together a nice retrospective and you gripe about it. My hearing sucks and I heard him just fine. Smh
A nice documentary! I used to mow the Bachman’s parent’s lawn in Winnipeg. Awesome boys!
Glad you enjoyed it
Brave Belt was not Randy's first solo album. His first solo album was Axe.
True, he released "Axe" in 1970 after leaving The Guess Who. Brave Belt was a band, not a Randy solo project.
Love BTO but damn, just couldn’t get through this video. Dude needs to slow down an enunciate. Just a garbled mess
Chad Allen didn't really "debut" with Brave Belt. He was the original singer of the predecessors to the Guess Who - Chad Allen and The Expressions.
Also Chad Allan and The Silvertones and Chad Allan and The Reflections. Chad passed away on November 21st 2023.
A couple of the members of BTO were in another popular band previously. Can you guess who ?
Randy Bachman was a founding member of The Guess Who. Gary Peterson was the original drummer of The Guess Who and did a short stint in BTO from 1983 to 1986.
The 1984 " For The Weekend " was a great song !!! I used to hear it on the radio all the time !!
Bad ass band had no idea they tried to hold a high moral standard with songs like stay awake all night. And down down we all go down and not fragile. Kind of heavy for the time.
I saw them at The Fillmore East . Great show !
The Fillmore East was closed by the time BTO formed. Possibly you saw them at the Academy Of Music on 14th & 3rd ✌️
@@michaelrescigno7997 BTO opened Barry Stuart's NFE (unofficially "New Fillmore East") on December 7, 1974.
This is so hard to follow. You sound like you're reading a written script that contains no punctuation
They were almost as big as Kiss in the early to mid 70's. Their concerts were a major production back in the day.
BTO was better than Kiss ever was !
Kiss was nothing more than a gimmick, and overwhelming hype.
BTO was a real rock band, and a damned good one, at that !
What "HAPPENED?" The very same thing that happens to ALL
Rock N Rollers...OLD AGE, and--- Death!
And Randy Bachman ripping off the band (as in contracts) didn't help.
Just ask Robbie Bachman, he talked about it in great detail.
Respect Randy Bachman as a rock guitarist, but ripping off your bandmates, and especially your brother, is pretty fucking low !
You omit Randy's 1970 solo album Axe which predates Brave Belt by about a year!
Eat a Peach concert at the Orange Bowl. Circa 1970's. BTO opened for The Allman Brothers. It rained.
What happened to Burton Cummings?
He ran into Albert Flasher.
The one thing this video needs more than anything is a decent narrator.
I got about two minutes in and I had to stop. This guy is rushing through what he’s saying, does not enunciate very well at all, and trips over his own tongue way too many times.
FYI, It's "Backman", not "Bokman."
In an interview with Randy he said that North of the border It's pronounced "Backman". South of the border it's "Bockman".
Bachman
I thought it was very cool of McDonald's to put out the "B T O Meal"(for a limited time). The meal...was nothing special, but it was the thought that counts. Some other supposed artists had meals, as well(Saweetie, Travis Scott, etc...)but I have never heard of them.
Robbie Bachman died on January 12, 2023 and Tim Bachman died, today, April 29, 2023.
you are not good at this, you should rehearse before you read...this was hard to watch

Trip Shakespeare. That should be a good group to follow.
BTO has always shadowed Grand Funk RailRoad
Randy pronounces his name BACK-man, not BOCK-man. 🇨🇦
Rivals Neil Peart for the most mispronounced family name.
You should consider using a synth voice for your videos.
❤
It's Back Man not Bach Man.
number 4 in the canada
WHat happened? They put out several good albums and broke up. Big deal.
this guy needs speech therapy
do Grand Funk
They got fat ? BTOverwieght

Can you speak slowly 🐌 I can't understand a word your saying
What did they have 1 or 2 songs that anyone remembers? Guess Who members in the band and they also had a couple of hits, American Woman only one I remember back in the day.
Apparently your memory is gone
You need to be educated
Don't assume the importance of bands based only on how successful they are in the US.
You obviously are not very musically rounded . . . or maybe you're only 12.
These complaints about the narrator.... really? How many people are giving these order bands the time of day. Anyone shining the spotlight on these older bands deserves some praise.
No matter what YOU say ..... He is very hard to understand !!!!
mush mouth
unfortunately the narrator ruined it for me, can't enunciate words correctly
Wish Inever watchedthis.
Randys vocals are absolutely hideous....I never liked that band
Then why on earth would you listen to this? Oh, ya, you just like being a negative troll and need to let everyone know what you don’t like. Problem is: no one cares what you like or don’t like.
Bachman Turner Overweight…
What happened? They were too ugly
BTO was terrible. I saw them as headliner with Aerosmith and Stories. Both bands much better show. We left after the first BTO song. Randy B. should have stayed with the Guess Who. He couldn't deal the fact that Cummins was the better songwriter and musician.

i totally agree
This could have been real interesting but I can't understand anything the narrator is saying.

Dude...in the nicest way...Learn how to use compression on your voice and get a damn pop filter!!
And enunciate clearly please.
I thought it was just me... i cant understand a word he's saying
I'm from the city of Leeds in England. BTO are one of my favourite all time bands I have all six of their first studio albums also a box set with two additional albums. So many mistakes is why he's talking so fast 😂
Nervousness maybe. He should take the time to record it slowly. Can always speed it up in post.
Hard to understand his words !!!
could you talk any faster?
When Neil Young was asked who was one of his biggest influences was he said Randy Bachman. They grew up together with Burton Cummings.
no he didn't bs
Same town but no. Young was gone by them. In the mynabirds with Rick James
Yes he did, and when Bachman had an amplifier made that he called the Herzog, Neil said "Where can I get one of those?!"
@@lyndas2767 those amps were made in winnipeg, im sure neil knew where to get one

This narrator really needs to learn pacing, diction , projection and pronunciation before he tries another project.
Omg. Is this narrator a professional?
And the recording...horrible
Thumbs down.
Not comprehending your talking bro, wish I could follow it better.
Best to be standing when giving a speech, improves tonal range too, better breathing.
Short sweet and to the point!
He should go slower

Randy learned a lot of guitar from Lenny Breau.
Many of us learned a lot from Lenny Breau.
Hey narrator,
Read slower and ENUNCIATE.
I really do enjoy your videos. They are very good! But I do have trouble understanding you. Please speak more distinctly, and maybe slow down a bit. I would really appreciate it!
Dude .. speak slower and clearer!!
It is way difficult to understand this guy as he talks !!! Knowing BTO’s history is very interesting, but info hard to hear! !! Thanks for trying!
He creates great content but he talks like he's an auctioneer!
They took care of business and quit.
Would have loved to see them open up for Van Hagar!
They did….and I think you know it.
Fred Turner retired from touring, Robby Bachman has died and Randy is still rockin!
Fred Turner and Randy are touring summer of 2023 .
2 DIED THIS YEAR
Slow the video to 0.75 speed while playing. Hope it helps.
Saw them at Hammersmith Odeon London 1975 -- place full of Canadians, fantastic night......
It is BACK-man and he was kicked out of The Guess Who after lying and saying he was ill but was actually producing an album for the Winnipeg band The Mongrels. The other 3 voted to kick him out and called Kurt and Greg to join them on tour.
These bands were my legacy -,Miss them so much

Seen BTO in Lane , South Dakota ,which is just a wide spot in the road with a post office
When they were trying to get known they played pretty much anywhere they could.
@@guywerry6614 It was pretty cool , they were outside jamming ,sun was going down , good memories

no drugs, no booze, no pre-marital sex from a ROCK band on tour? Kinda hard to think of that being realistic.
Interesting material, but the narrator appears to make no effort at all to speak clearly, making it more trouble than it's worth to listen to.
Keep doing these there interesting
The man mumbling. Hard to follow! Grade F,!
it's pronounced backman,,, not bockman............geeeeez
