Hey I'm curious about something I noticed when you dive you're at a fairly good distance from the shore and you're in 30 ft deep plus water a lot of times, when you two are doing this do you ever have any kind of flotation device with you or in tow or do you leave it on the surface while you swim in case you inhale water or get a really bad cramp?

Snorkels don't hold air. Some snorkels have a valve on the top that closes when you dive underwater these are known as dry snorkels.
