Laura, I don't know you know this or not, but I heard you say that you punch 'was losing its touch" and wasn't as sharp as it once was.
Here's a tip to help... to sharpen any punch, take a sheet Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil. Fold it in half and then in half again (You need it to fit your punch - size and thickness - so you may even need to fold it a third time.) Punch through the folded Foil 3+ times. This should "sharpen" your punch.
To "lubricate" a punch, do the same thing as you did with the foil, with Wax Paper (it has to be WAX paper, not parchment or the like).
