    I got these back in January; have not gone back to the traditional controllers since. I've been waiting so long to have GameCube style controllers on the sides, and this has not disappointed

      When was the last time you use a GameCube controller?
      I'd been waiting for GameCube JoyCons since I saw the Switch. "Oh, the controllers pop off. Cool, they'll make bigger ones, and GameCube ones." months later "Okay, they won't, but surely third parties will." like two years later "Okay, but surely someone will eventually make GameCube Joycons." years later "Okay, Shank showed how great GameCube JoyCons are, got loads of coverage about it, millions of views, surely it'll come any day now." and then three damn years later... we get two, finally! More in the works, hopefully.

      @@CarrotsNotCake Not too long ago, for using a GameCube controller. I still have my GameCube from 2002 I plug in now and then to play the original Animal Crossing or one of the other few games I still have.
      It's definitely nice to finally have GameCube style controllers even if they lack some things like analog triggers. I have the other controller as well and yeah, hopefully between these two brands others hop on to try making their own now that GameCube joycons have reached the mass market.

      @@Malacine Cool. When I first got my Nyxis, I was enthralled and overlooked the shortcomings. After I got my Doyokys, I realised how much better Nyxi could've done, and I just never use Nyxi's GammeCube JoyCons anymore.
      For sure. They may not be perfect, but it's good enough. I'd /really/ like to see GameCube JoyCons with Hall triggers. If Sunshine and other games that use analog triggers are developed properly, it'll detect them the same as GameCube analog triggers. If they don't currently, they can be patched to.
      I would very much like t see Hyperkin and Retro Fighters release GameCube JoyCons. PowerA, too. Preferably will Hall triggers.

    These are good for most types of gaming, but I've noticed that the sticks flick back in the opposite direction a little too much. It's not enough to affect a casual playthrough of most games, but if you're really into fighting games or anything else that requires fine control, they can cause misinputs. It's ironic because it's not the greatest for Smash, which is probably the crowd they were aiming for given the GameCube aesthetic. Still a pretty good controller if you like this layout better, though.

      The more I read comments on videos of Nyxi's GameCube JoyCons, the more issues I read. They've definitely got a quality control problem. I hope they improve it.
      Yes yes! It's like... fine for Smash, casually, but like... legit playing, between random inputs, and that it's just... not right with the face buttons, it's not suited for serious playing.

    I got mine a few months ago. I really like it. Only is the back buttons sometimes having a mind of their own and selecting stuff randomly in the menus. It’s ace for certain games like smash or mario cart. Works nice on Golden eye for those who don’t have the N64 controller. I don’t use mine for Tears for instance. but love it and glad I got one. £52 delivered to the UK with a 10% off code.

    Great video from you nate really enjoy this type of content as opposed to rumor videos. Would you recommend this over the Power A gamecube controller ? It looks like this controller is so big il lose that nostalgia feeling of using a gamecube controller where the Power A one looks like a more solid replica of the original

    My main question is the the right joystick is it in a more natural position like on a Xbox or Nintendo pro controller? Because on the standard Nintendo joy cons the right joystick was in a very unatural and uncomfortable position to be able to use it.

    I have been using it since early this year. It’s the best controller I’ve used. I don’t have the pro controller to compare it to though. I got it to replace the binbok joycons. Those were comfortable but sucks in terms of movement resolution.
    What I mean by that is if you start the switch’s joycon test controller utility, you get to move the cursor in less number of positions. The cursor looks jumpy and you can’t draw a smooth path.
    With the Wizard, you can draw a smooth path on the test utility, even better than the original joycons could because the analog sticks are bigger.

    • @GmrSlickz
      @GmrSlickz 11 місяців тому

      Cons:
      The macro buttons only work on a single side.
      The battery consumption is lopsided if you have the lights on. The right side goes low battery faster than the left side. But that’s not to say they go dry fast, it takes a good amount of gaming to finish the battery.
      I had to get the nyxi case to protect it when I travel, and usually end up relying on the original joycons in original case when I’m moving around. They are too huge to carry around. It’s my main controller at home.

    • @CarrotsNotCake
      @CarrotsNotCake 11 місяців тому

      I didn't have any issues with its sensitivity in Tears of the Kingdom, but they did send random inputs, and Link would start running in a random direction, so that... wasn't great. The replacement doesn't do that, but do be aware that yours might. There are better options for sure.

      Eeeeh. The face buttons are too different for serious Smash play, and the quality control is lacking. Two people in these comments had issues (three including me), and many many more in other comment sections. Some people get controllers that work with no issues, but many others get input issues, joystick issues, broken buttons (only saw that one once), dead on arrival controllers (only saw that one once).

      So, a lot of people have had a lot of issues with this Nyxi controller. Mostly random inputs, but also at least one case of a broken button, and one of a dead on arrival unit. Nyxi spends a lot of effort of their marketing, but not so much on their quality control. Maybe in time they'll fix that, but you're right to be skeptical. Doyoky's GameCube JoyCons, on the other hand... I'm aware one one person having an issue, and it was the a incorrectly tightened screw issue as best I could tell. But that's only on their GameCube JoyCon controller. The rest of their controllers... I d'know.

    • @zaqueroberts1975
      @zaqueroberts1975 11 місяців тому +1

      @CarrotsNotCake I had an issue where my right doyoky joycon rail wasn't connecting properly when I received it. They asked for video evidence and then sent out a replacement. Fairly simple process, and the new one works great.
      The nyxi ones I received worked fine, but just aren't as comfortable.
      Once I finish totk, I'll be using the doyokys to finish playing metroid prime and the pikmin games.
      I wish someone would make joycons with analog triggers so I could play through mario sunshine in handheld mode.

      "low quality trash" is too harsh. Poorly executed would be much more accurate. Quality control is lacking, and the flashy "features", and the obvious lack of the designers actually having used a GameCube controller. It's a money grab. Hopefully it leads to other companies making more, though! Like Doyoky has. Although they were working on theirs before Nyxi's released, so that wasn't a copycat thing.
