Hello, and thanks for this video. I love Mike Shayne! I've seen all 7 of the Lloyd Nolan ones, and only two, now three, of the five with Hugh Beaumont. I wonder if you have: "Too Many Winners" & "Larceny In Her Heart"?
I remember his telling the Beav: “You will always do well in life if you strive to improve yourself rather than proving yourself.” This advice is almost Biblical, and he’s easily the greatest television father ever.
This movie was made when city dumps were actually still in the city....lol..!! The actor who played the character, Gill Madden, the publisher, played a lot of bad guy/gangster roles. I enjoyed seeing him in a good guy role.
In my opinion....a good B movie owing to a sturdy cast, a lot of energy, and good old Los Angeles. It's difficult to replace Lloyd Nolan as well as trying to match better scripts from earlier Brett Halliday ventures...the "villain" being a confusing plot. Thank you for posting and archiving.
It's a little difficult watching Beaumont as a macho Noir dude after seeing him as the Beavers father in so many of those old shows on television Guess that's why they call it acting❤.
first walk-in....BEN WELDEN... for us Boomers, a beloved and wonderful character actor in so many movies for 10 cents and tv western movies....we grew up enjoying his "bad" guy characters and good. LOL NM
At ~43:20 Shayne shakes hands. When he extends his right hand, one clearly sees a crease in the fabric of lower arm. I know of creases in trousers but never on jackets. Comments?
Amazing! How on earth the movie directors on All western movies ( on fistfights)as well as on this one at15:15 overlook that the hats should roll off ( law of gravity)the actors heads when they roll down hill….! 😅
I'm really enjoying these Hugh Beaumont detective movies . I hope there's more of them 👍👍
Yes there is.
@@claytonkilbourne9078 Cool . Thanks 🙂
@@Ds74-pmrq your welcome . I am currently watching the Mike Shayne movie. " Three on a Ticket ".

Ward Cleaver's alter ego.
I like Hughe Beaumont in these movies.
Love Hugh Beaumont - always have. Thank you, Retro Central, for posting this for us!❤😊
Real cute movie. Like the tension between Beaumont and his secretary.
Years earlier, you could see the same tension/friction between Ellery Queen (Ralph Bellamy) and his secretary Nikki Porter (Margaret Lindsay).
🔵THE SECRETARY WAS CUTE, PERKY AND BEAUTIFUL.🔴
This was a good hour of entertainment.
Two hours if you count the ads. But it was a fun little fast-moving B movie. No pretentions, but it did what it set out to do - entertain.
@@bobbell1922 Yes, sadly but true.

“Angel, You’re cute as a button, but you always pop off at the wrong time.” 😃 GREAT LINE!!

I feel the same with Fred MacMurray
@marilaucher9989....When television took off in the 1950's, it made a lot of regular type actors from the movies era famous and rich.
TY!
10000's of ads. turning off. shame

The secretary is annoying!!!
She was not, she was very cute and beautiful, you're just jealous.
Overacting, but lay that on the director. Besides, a young starlet wants to be noticed.
She's also Deborah Raffin's mother.
She's welcome to come by and annoy me anytime. Anytime.
