When visiting in the summer when most days are blazing hot, the park is pretty empty until about 7pm when suddenly hundreds of people descend upon the park to hike out and watch the sun self over the sound on the tallest dunes. It’s very cool to go visit it at twilight whe. The air has cooled off enough to make hiking on it comfortable.
@@bjdon99 it’s a beautiful park. The heat wasn’t too bad on our visit and we seen plenty of folks sand boarding and flying kites. I want to go back when they host the Wright kite festival.
We had talked about going to NC this year, but we decided to push that off to a possible trip next year. I really need some ocean and beach lol. There were so many kites in that store. Pretty cool! I might slide down that hill once. But I wouldn't want to climb back up the hill to do it more than that lol. Love the view from up there, though. I'd be scared to do the hang gliding. Be my luck the wind would catch me and take me way far away LOL.
Jockeys Ridge amazing! The sledding not too bad, we saved the bigger dunes for last. North Carolina has over 41 state parks and plan to visit them all in the next few years. They have so many parks on the coast. If y’all go check out some of the light houses they have. This year some of them were closed due to repairs. Can’t wait to see those videos on when y’all do go 😊
That looks like great fun! We’ve been to western North Carolina but not the coast. Thanks for taking us along!
We want to visit western NC to see the mountains. We plan on visiting some National Parks there next year. It’s a beautiful place with plenty to see.
