Bradley International Airport is smaller and has a Simplex voice evac system. This airport is so big, that it makes sense for this place to get a voice evac system that says..... A fire emergency has been reported in the building, please leave the building by the nearest exit. I don't think anyone will understand horn strobes in a very large building like this
the same problem is at the Charlotte airport, which is massive but has spectralert advances set to continuous throughout most of the building, and I think they're all set to high volume. I think there are also spectralert classic horn strobes and system sensor l-series speaker strobes in certain areas (with the atlanta airport standby message with the 4 beeps and the "stand by for further instructions" according to a youtube comment from someone who works at the airport, and a full evac message, but I have no idea what that sounds like.)
The only thing I don't understand is why do some people decide to use Continuous? It's just ear torture, especially with horn strobes like these. And if it's going to be going off for a while, it can really damage your ears... at least, that's what I think, having Autism and hence sensitive ears. Trust me, fire drills were my childhood nightmare.
In the future they should replace these screaming loud horns to voice evac. It is needed in this airport because of how big it is. I don't understand what people are going to with horn strobes on continuous.
@Firesafety_unicorn yeah and I have simplex truealerts at my school, so I definitely can tell the differentiate and distinguish the noises between those two alarms. Also, did you say siemens ummts are louder? I didn’t know because I’ve never heard siemens ummts go off in person. I’ve only heard simplex truealerts go off in person.
Same issue when I was at JFK in 2019. I was flying to Europe and in Terminal 4 at JFK when it occurred
I like the UMMT and NS going off at the same time!!
What’s that

This system was likely installed when the speaker strobe requirement wasn’t out. EWR, JFK, and LGA have horns too

The fact that JFK of all places doesn’t have voice evac is just baffling.
Tbf some of the terminals do.
Or ikea those stores are huge
I had a comment about it.I wish they had the voice evac because of how big this airport is
EWR doesn't either 🤣

people are weird ig
Hell, ppl in Heathrow would take the lifts 🛗 even during an evacuation
I do remember the fire alarm going off at jfk airport when I was switching flights there to head home from india
Thats nuts thank god it hasnt happened to me at all lol
Nice video cool
I remember going to jfk airport and I heard Wheelock mt or as
EWR Airport Terminal A has Wheelock AS
What Terminal was that?
Jetblue ive been there several times
this system most certainly needs to change tone for all alarms to code 3
How is there not voice evac here?
They're not that bad
Yeah. A huge ass airport, yet, for lack of a better term, primitive alarms.

what happened?
I’m his brother, it just went off unexpectedly.
