- Marty Stuart and Marcus King playing “Killing Floor” at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN 6/8/22 during Marty Stuart’s Late Night Jam
I love how Marty doesn't need to show off and instead pays tribute to Hubert Sumlins original lead on Howlin Wolfes recording. A true class act.
Yeah…but that’s the Clarence White telecaster. It’s got a B bender in it. Use it if you got it.
Exactly! I love how Marty locks in that groove.
MUCH agreed on that "class act" thing!
Buddy guy plays lead on killing floor for the wolf. Not Hubert
I heard Marty play a sweet beautiful snare-like mandolin chop all evening long ago when he was part of Lester Flatt and the Nashville Grass, back when I was maybe 11. Lester didnt feel well and sat the whole show but sounded great. Around 2 hours in, he introduced young Marty and said they had to get him back to school by Monday morning and drew a laugh. Then, he asked Marty to pick for the folks, and I mean he let it fly and cut it hard and high like Bill Monroe did when he was young. Held the Mandolin up even with his hat into the vocal mic and just burned it down. He is one of the most tasteful and gifted musicians we have ever had❤
That was beyond awesome!! Good for Kenny and Marty to stretch them strings out with some Howlin Wolf.
Kenny can hold his own on any stage with anyone
I love how Marty lets others come to the forefront and he stays back to let them have the spotlight. Marty is an amazingly talented musician and seems to be a genuinely nice person.
He is...My in-laws owned a small Ma & Pa restaurant in Petosi Missouri many years ago and Marty and friends came in for a bite. They said he was a real gentleman. They could hardly believe he was there in person at their modest establishment.
Makes you wonder who can come close to filling Marty Stuart's shoes when he is gone from the earth. We need more people in the music industry like this man.
Whoever built that stage needs a raise, holding up all that guitar talent
I love Marty and I love the Wolf, but I didn't see this coming. Love it.
Talent loves talent - talented people have no trouble making great music. These guys are on the top of any list.
Now that's a stage full of talent right there! Aww man I'm loving it! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
And Marcus King.
Amen brother!
Marty is a beast and pays it forward.
I met Marcus a few years back at a gig in Asheville NC he was only 19 and he blew the roof off the dump. Glad to know he is still keeping good music alive.
Marty should play every night at the Ryman.
Rockin Blues on the old Acuff’ stage. Pretty cool. Kenny Vaughn’s Lead was very tastefully executed- just the right spacing , lightning struck a few times, but not over done . Marcus carrying on the tradition and Marty the Country Gentleman 🇺🇸
I Seen Marty Stewart and Travis Tritt in Greenville South Carolina back in 1991, Travis Tritts tour, here’s quarter call someone who cares. Seen Marty at Anderson SC county Fair In 1991 too! Loves ole Marty
Chris Scruggs enduring, and tough enough on upright bass. Simply beautiful. Well done sir.
The first thing I thought too! 99.9% would have played that Precision right beside him. Chris was just killing it!
Marcus sounding fine.., but can't help but watch Kenny Vaughan knowing he is the man... and boom! There he goes!
Took me over two hours to watch this, wife kept interrupting each time I sat down to watch again. lol
THREE incredible guitar players on that stage!!
Marty is one of the must underrated guitars on earth , same kenny
Killing Floor on a stand up bass. Damn.
Blues gone be around when everything else is gone.
Marty Stuart is A Hendersonville Tennessee class act. Always has been. Hey neighbor! 👍🇺🇸👊🍺
The Superlatives doing blues! Love the blend of guitar styles, Thanks for posting.
Marty Stuart can play guitar with the best of them I dig Marqus, Kenny and Marty 👌😉
a very rare jewel, right here!
Damn!!!!!
Wow, that is gold right there.
Oh yeah! Marty and his band are diggin' it too.
Fistfulls of guitar strings lol! These guys love what they do. And they do it well.
This was so amazing to see live.. Thanks for the capture
You’re welcome!
Yes, thanks for sharing your video with us! Great clip, truly. I did all the stuff in “my” control to be there Wed eve, then Covid slammed me down last Friday and that was that. Just another reminder of how little control I have over my life.
Hope to be there next year! (The trip was my Mother’s Day gift from my long suffering husband). Instead he took care of me to help me get better. Not quite through it all yet.
Glad you could go and thank you for posting!
@@flautalee3090 you’re welcome! I’m really sorry to hear you caught covid and had to miss the show. Sounds like it would have been a nice gift! I do hope you have a speedy recovery and are able to attend next year though. This was my first Late Night Jam and I definitely plan to see more of them!
Nice. Thanks Ed for the share!!!
You’re welcome!
Man this is just too good. How cool. What an awesome thing!!!
Wow, they was slangin' it for real 😍
Awesome!!!!
Thanks for the splendid video, very much appreciated. Two very talented acts, along with the rest
of the band. I envy people who can play like that. Keep up the great work. Be careful & stay safe.
Marcus King is a Bad Dude
fire
All Stars All. The fabulous Marty Stuart and Marcus King. I had the great fortune to hear Hubert Sumlin (Howlin' Wolf's Chicago guitarist) in Seattle years ago. All inspiration here.
That as good as putting Hank and Waylon in same stage to me!
Awesome Markus King with The Marty Stewart 👍😱
I ❤ u both
Three masters on stage together, and we get to see it for free.
Awesome Performance…
I never heard this guy play like that. Good people here.
Absolute great stuff!
Kenny. Wow. I freaking love this band. Now let’s talk Marcus: king.
😎 Thanks guys ⚓️
That is cool, sounds great ,fun stuff
Top notch!
Brother Kenny sound pretty dang good here, and the punk ain't bad...
Damn straight , anytime your playing can make Marty smile your doing something right !!!!
I'm not saying that Marty and the Superlatives are the best band I've ever seen. But I'm not sure who's better.
Awesome!
Plugged in. Unplugged. Doesn’t matter. Them boys can play!
Kenny vaungh,s rhythm guitar on this is awesome...and then he gets a bite of lead...ohh man that's ear candy
I haven't heard that song since 1970-72 by the Electric Flag. THIS was a great cover and Marcus King is a monster--but so are the Superlatives. Kenny rocks
You never heard Hendrix play it? Or howlin wolf?
@@timhoovermusicman Howlin Wolf yes, Hendrix-no.
@@deanbanks3392 try this one☺️ua-cam.com/video/qHuGoI3kPa4/v-deo.html
There sure is alot of talent on that stage
Marty need not steal any show he can easily own any show
awesome.
Yeah Marcus is the real deal
Slap base started with acoustic base long before there were electric bases.
I liked that little fill the drummer did at 3:00. Marty looks at him "what was that", he shrugs.
Looks like Marcus right at home with the Country pickers.!
Hubert Sumlin and Howlin Wolf smiling
It's very sad that Bruce was probably starting his descent into darkness at this point just a few years ago. Praying that he does not suffer and for his family's strength.
He looks like Meatloaf in a cowboy hat. But he sounds even better.
Hubert and the Wolf smiling down....
Smokin’
That's killer.
awesome .
And everyone of them looked in the mirror and said " Damn I look good."
Marcus is killer but Kenny Vaughn is right there with him, love his chops
Marcus and Joe Bonamassa would be some shoot out !
You are making me late for work!!
I would have given anything to have been there ,
I see some Albert King style guitar playing with Marcus on this number.
Is this the national trouser museum?
Marty and Kenny play rhythm for me all the time…
Haha, in my dream I’m playing rhythm for them😊
Tailor’s name?. Make mental note to not patronise him/her/it. Otherwise: sublime!
Is that there uncles ?
Who is the guitarist on Marcus's right?
Kenny Vaughan… he is in Marty’s band
Only one of the greatest players out there. Cousin Kenny
@@michaelgranka7904 And yes ....
He can flat - out play !
...fabulous superlatives. Close though.
they must've paid Marcus by the note...
Then he was underpaid.
usually when your not well known but much of the pubic its natural to let it all hang out for the duration Marcus is a good one as is Billy Strings
Marty a great experiance for u contact the best mandolin maker in the world Jerry Rosa Rosa Sring Works in Missouri u wont be disappointed a perfectionist
yeah Marty being humble Love Marcus But Marty and the superlatives don't any help
need
Is it just me or is Marty Stewart starting to morf into Martha Stewart ??0...hahah I think I need to get my eyes checked 🤓
Who the woman with white hair in black
Marty Stuart,da
Yo mama?
They are pro guitar players and the hum is annoying and there are sound problems? Why is that ?
sorry a clash of styles as good as he that's what jam is for folks want to see Marty and his band not saying he is not good
bo ring
What I don’t understand is . . . With those electric guitars, that genre music, and an electric bass on a floor stand within reach, why they chose to use the upright acoustic bass. Makes no sense to me.
I'd imagine the man who played on the record - was KING of the stand up bass... If you don't know who Willie Dixon is, look him up.
You need a history lesson.
@@deanbanks3392 that’s it? You’re not going to give me that lesson? When you clue me in, bear in mind that I was a bass player in the 50s 60s and 70s and was the studio bassist in the first recording studio in Macon (GA). Nevertheless, that doesn’t mean I know everything and I’m still eager to learn history I may have missed.
@@deanbanks3392 you know, Dean, I’m thinking you don’t have much to teach. After thinking, you likely realized your replies are irrelevant to my comment. I don’t care if it was Herman Horsehair Bugfuzz playing the bass (you probably never heard of him either) it was still the wrong instrument. Couldn’t hear it anyway, though.
@@guermeisterdoodlebug7980--you are too shallow and unlearned to search the history of the song. You can seemingly only make stupid statements.
That was hideous.
The lad done been to the crossroads......💖😎
Truth
I love how Marcus wore the appropriate suit to play with Marty, looking good son!
My grandad played with Marty Stuart in the 70’s glad to see a connection to one of my favorite guitarists, Marcus king
That’s very cool your granddad played with Marty!
@@tennesseeed3739 yep the name was Barry Chance
@@jtchance_music9895 saw him with coral reefer band good player!!!!
@@steveburchfield5576 thanks!
The Bite from Marcus’s Gibson Hum-bucker’s and his lightning licks are well suited for this classic blues number. Marty is always a class act🇺🇸
Kenny ❤️💚🤎
Great guitar player!
What a band!
I love it
Marty has best band
The country Dudes are kicking butt. The skills and talent is never ending. Love Cousin Kenny.
Thanks so much for the upload! This was fantastic!
You’re welcome!
Great Sound ! Class act
Nice
“Big Red” is one bad ass 345
Sounds like a heavy metal artist when he sings, i wonder what he grew up listening to.
It sure wasn't Lester Flatt.
