Great video, I was always a fan of this jet. I read somewhere that the Indian Air Force are giving their Jaguars an engine upgrade that'll give it 30% more power. It's good to know that people are still flying these birds.
I know this sounds silly, but I think the Jaguar is a very sexy, aggressive looking beast. The landing gear looks like the closed talons of a feathered raptor. Great looking, aggressive, , testosterone sweating, sexy assed jet aircraft!
@@infledermaus A guy I used to work with, was out in Oman and he brought a load of photo`s in one day, amongst them was a fantastic shot of one of these Birds, it looked like it was barely above the desert floor. I asked him, was it coming in to land? he said no, it was on a flight test and the pilot was doing a very low level pass, look, he said. The landing gear is still up. I was absolutely amazed.
Sat in the runway caravan at Coltishall one day, and had a Jaguar T-bird line up for departure. Saw something stuck up at the rear of the wing so called the pilot and explained what I was seeing. Comical as the two guy's heads swung round to have a look so quickly. Apparently they had had an auto stab runaway. Got a thank you out of that, so was a happy bunny.

How these pilots could fly low and fast and operate all those switches never ceases to amaze me.

I know it’s mind boggling!
It gets easier with 4th gen aircraft with HOTAS and multi-function displays. For combat you basically only fuddle with armament, sensor, and if necessary navigation switches, anyways. It would have definitely helped to have the light switches all in one place, though
Simple, they don't.
I've always liked the Jag, has a similarish backend to the Phantom I think lol but it was an awesome low level attack aircraft, just a shame the government didn't increase its power, maybe it would have been in service slightly longer if that was the case? Awesome to be shown around the cockpit, I do feel we should have more cockpit tours, like the Canberra PR9 reconassance aircraft, or the good old EE Lightning, there are many to be honest lol.

Never fails to amaze me how these pilots, flying at incredible speeds and subject to high G forces could actually manage such a complex cockpit. Am honest enough to admit that I would never have such an ability, and I would guess very few would.

I have to say the Jag is one of my favourite aircraft.
Looks somewhat 'close' in that cockpit. Not a great deal of room to move about in. I guess many fighter and attack cockpits will be the same. Tons of switches and dials too.

It seems that the aviation industry has learned nothing about putting "idiot-proofing" gizmos in the command-chain.

Wow loved the jag but didn’t know it was that under powered! Had to have one engine on re-heat to refuel with full stores! 😳
Yes bizarre! Use extra fuel to get some fuel!
Interestingly the F16 requires reheat during air to air refueling if fully laden with stores, so not just an issue affecting the Jag.

Wow, this cockpit seems as bad as the Mig-21 cockpit - just throwing switches all over the place.
The only bad thing seems to be the lighting switches.. So it's not a bad cockpit.

Regarding operating PTR switches from rear cockpit on T2...... I spent 8 years as propulsion technician on Jags, late 70's/early 80's. I can't remember the PTR switches being duplicated in the rear cockpit but it was a long time ago and I could be mistaken. I know the throttle box was different in the rear and the engines could not be started or shut down from the rear.
Loved the interview and this - wish I had followed this path in life.

Could someone explain what RE HEAT is and in what ocasions does it is used please?
Reheat is afterburner.
Re Heat on an Aircraft works in a similar way to a Turbo in a motor car ,in as much as it gives the engine an extra BOOST , in simple terms extra fuel in introduced into the engine to give the motor EXTRA power its usually used on aircraft for take off to get the aircraft into the air faster over a shorter take off run.
and additionally in air combat situations where manoeuvrability at speed is of importance

Thanks guys!!!!! From some research I found that the "reheat" came from the antient steam-turbines operation, that used this cicle as a kind of "booster", and the term went on to the jet turbine (besides working in different ways they both have the same purpose). Found that it is a regional term also (north americans call it "afterburners" while english often call it "reheat").
The RAF version of the Jaguar also had the engines limited, so needed reheat to take off. It was a mandatory call from the runway caravan if they didn't light their tail.

This is a 1970's aircraft, designed back in the 60's. It's Not a 1980's one. No pitty.
Such a cramped cockpit.
Better than a massive cockpit that you have to reach everywhere.
Also with the cockpit being tight around the pilot, the view out is rather good.
