*I shave my head* Losing all my hair to chemotherapy

  • This video has taken a while to post because of how vulnerable it was for Delia. She feels it's important to share in hopes that it brings value to any others currently walking the road of breast cancer or any other path leading to chemotherapy. The cold capping didn't work as well as we had hoped and it was time to make a change. Delia decides to shave her head and cut off all the matted knots that proved to be unsalvageable. We both had a feeling this day would come but it was still a very emotional moment. As with the rest of the steps in this journey, Delia handles it with grace and positivity. We discuss some of the things that have made this burden much lighter to bare; namely wigs. Delia has found a new hobby it seems with changing up wigs and having fun with it. Balding and hair loss can be inevitable at times along with many other changes that occur as we walk through life. We cannot change what happens to us most of the time, but we can always control our outcome and response to life's challenges. There are always ways to find light in darkness and we hope this vlog brings value to anyone going through any trial life brings.

Delia, my name is Cara. My mum was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer when I was 10. She is now 72. I am about to turn 43, 3 years older than when she was diagnosed. She lost her hair and then had it shaved. My sisters and I, as little girls, called her newly growing hair "monkey fuzz." I loved touching her hair. It was her still being alive. You are so strong. Hair grows back. So did her eyelashes and eyebrows. The point is that they did. It grew back differently but it was not what defined her. Her being alive did that. You are so strong, Delia! From another Cara across the world little sister. I see you and send you lots of love. My prayers are with you and Dylan and your families. You will get through this. Thank you for being such a wonderful vessel of Grace and Love.

How is she so positive? A living angel. You deserve none of this but you’re handling so well the cards you’ve been dealt.

My daughter was 25 when she was diagnosed with cancer. She was on chemo for a year and then got a bone marrow transplant. She lost her hair 4 times, and each time it came in a different color and texture. She didn't like wigs so she just accepted her bald head. And she was beautiful, just like you are. Prayers going up for you.

She’s one of those chicks that can honestly just rock a shaved head…..I’m too busy looking at her smile anyway. ❤️

Delia's smile as the wig came off was nothing short of incredible. Radiating such warmth and strength. That is beauty Delia.

Wow, the smile on your face when you took off the wig and turned around warmed my heart! May God bless you and keep you in the palm of his hands while he shepherds you through this.

I’m a cancer survivor so I completely understand what you are going through. Your attitude and the way you are approaching this is similar to my journey. One thing I can say is when you took off the wig for the final reveal all I could see was this gorgeous smile that was radiating light into the world. Bless you Delia and Dylan and you are in my daily prayers

Before the hair shaving began, my eyes began to water 🥺 When you took off the wig Delia and showed us how your hair is currently looking like, all I noticed was the biggest smile 😊 I have ever seen on someone. Thank you for being such a huge inspiration to all of us. God will reward you for being such a good and inspirational person 😇

After Delia's haircut when she was being photographed with her hairdresser I thought to myself, she has never looked more beautiful. Delia you are a natural beauty. Losing your hair didn't take away from your beauty, if anything, I never appreciated how beautiful your face was until that moment. Wishing you a speedy recovery!
