There is something incredibly and unreasonably cathartic and meaningful about a character who has let everything in life act upon him as a force, a character we have only seen lash out at those who dare get even close to him, firmly stand his ground and legitimately risk his life for people who can't defend themselves.
You know the first time I watched I realized at 2:25 he stepped on the tail to counter the phase attack, but now I realized he also took advantage of the fact he knew the fire attack was coming and had a charge up time. Cool to see some rpg style strategies working their way in.
@@higztv1166 it's like when the enemy is about to make a really powerful attack but it takes a couple of turns to charge so you have to either guard to minimize damage taken or finish him off in those turns.
is it just me are homestuck fanworks (and also i guess homestuck itself) at their best when they're doing sburb-y stuff? not that i don't like the direction that the comic is going in right now with the alchemy and corporate stuff, its very interesting, but goddamn watching some teens slaughter monsters with weapons and magic powers is cool and also somewhat satisfying? like "yeah, you did it! murder that dragon thing wooo!"

Augh I love it Also all of Arcjec’s character development in just this one video?? It’s so good!! We get him being brave and determined but... his and the monsters expressions? It’s dark man *I love it*
@@marquisoflabyrinths Similar to the attack animation in Undertale. Though really that, "black screen with a color swinging in an arc" move has been done so many times by other franchises that it's not just Undertale's.
IDK why, but I never tend to read into character's motivations much until it's pointed out to me. But hearing someone (NezumiVA) explain why this moment was so big for Arcjec really put things into perspective. This is a troll who has spent their entire life running from their problems to avoid getting hurt, cutting out everyone they can to keep themself safe. But he takes a step back and realizes in a moment of clarity that it hasn't been working. No matter how far or fast he runs from his problems, he just faces more. So, mustering up all their courage, they finally decide to face something head on, regardless of the risks involved. It's genuinely awesome to see Arcjec come into his own here and finally face off against his problems (and even more so because it actually works!)
I left home thinking to myself what was that awsome that was gonna happen today, this was it, man how can this 171 seconds be best spent time of my life?
