I literally got about 2500 gel balls soaking last night so I could bring out my Splatrball SRB400 today. These things are a lot of fun! I like that drum mag
Gel blasters are plenty fun to use - especially since I'm finding several at local thrift stores that are damaged boxes from stores, but otherwise perfect condition. That said, I haven't had the chance to war with them - closest I got was dropping some off for friends/fellow influencers to try at a war while I traveled to Q2 in Jersey.
Hopefully, we'll have another war soon where we can break them out foe a few rounds - I heard nothing but positive things afterwards.
If you take apart the magazine there is a plastic piece on the top blocking you from having the full 1200 rounds

I was gifted a srb1200 by one of the parents at my job, I have been looking for an event in NorCal ever since.

Depending on where you are some big stores that sell only BB guns or paintball they might have a testing area or play area in the back.
I bought the 400 to back some starlings off of a couple dove nests last spring because I got tired of watching them pester them sun up to sun down. Soon after it went with me every where and I’d break it out when it was safe and make some fans.
Sometimes when safety may not have been the main consideration and mostly in the evening. I might know someone that would drive in the “slow” lane of a 4 lane + HOV doing about 70 mph and hit uh I don’t know, 96 out of 114 light poles in the center dividers of a 28 mile stretch of freeways of his old commute, allegedly.
Rumor is the best time to see them illuminated and hit targets is twilight with about 3 shot bursts
I had a ruger 10/22 with irons growing up and learned how to lob rounds down range quicker and with more accuracy than my brothers with scopes. By the time they zeroed in I had walked my third shot right on target, allegedly.
Anyway, The look on anyones face as they pop off a couple in single fire is cool. Then switch it to full auto and doesn’t matter if it’s your mom, brother or my 5 year old daughter. Everyone gets the same childish grin and my daughters devious look before she sprays me with 50 rounds.
I’ve got one out of 5 brothers to get a 400 and I just got a 1200 because well, just because. My goal is to eventually have a battle royal at the annual family gathering.
For now I’m about to take the 4 apart because it’s seized on some dried ammo, fix it and mail it up there. Hopefully they take me seriously bcuz I’ve told them that I’ll be blastin them and their kids all week long and they will bring some resemblance of a spl8rball for defense or it won’t even be fun.
I do love Gel Blasters, in Australia they pretty popular in 2 states South Australia and Queensland.
Gel is quite a bit cheaper for rounds (but less accurate) and less affect on environment (starch based gelatin). I see it as a spot INSIDE the big three (foam, airsoft, paintball) where anyone from any blaster background could find a playstyle that they would like and go with it. Now your foam dart friends can bring their darts to a gel war and no one is going to say anything. The paintball guy can get a hopper fed gel blaster and feel at home. Your airsoft friend can buy a mag fed gel blaster and feel at home as well.
My biggest selling point is if you get the hopper based ones that don't look real steel much at all you can play about anywhere and not get to much hassle. I'm going to try to get a bunch of the springers and a couple electrics and invite people over for gel wars.
Drac, just asking if your gonna review the elite 2.0 motoblitz. I had seen WalcomS7's review on it and it can be modded and it is a elite 2.0 blaster worth picking up from what I heard
Might as well be airsoft at that point the whole reason I got into Nerf was for the mags with proper ammo capacity
It's way cheaper and simpler than airsoft, plus you don't need as much protection
Mag capacity is relative. I personally think reloading a lot makes sense because it adds an extra tactical aspect to things BUT I like the options of having either. You can always put less ammo in a gel or airsoft mag, it's cumbersome to add ammo capacity to foam mags.
If you’re worried about mag capacity, then just play magfed paintball

I love this style of gun, reminds me of the guy from Scarface ; I think that’s the right movie . A;thought the accuracy test when you were shooting the box seems like it didn’t hit accurate. Even when firing constantly

TOO BIG! Gelball blasters are closer to Airsoft in size. In fact there are many tutorials about converting Gelball blasters into Airsoft guns.
Size comparison:
Airsoft is 6mm - 8mm.
Gelballs are around 7-8mm (9mm for those that shoot both gelballs and darts)
Elite is 13mm
Mega is 20mm
Why don't you make your own? You community is big and you are very respected in various circles, you could make the first hvz or OPs gelball event, and surely would be a Blast!!

Get the 1200 drum brother
Every time I shoot the gels come out broken already. I can’t find a reason why it’s doing that. I have two splatrball guns and only one does it.

In theory but you would get maybe 30 fps, if you look at a wasp 76 being an AEG you need more air to send a dart flying at 150
