I saw someone say that the other pogues won't be able to carry the show so season 5 isn't worth watching, but honestly that doesn't make sense to me. Ppl are mad af about the writers killing of a character that they not even gonna give season 5 a chance. OK I have a theory.. One thing going around is that because its only John B and Sarah who have narrated the story that this means they are probably telling the story to their child which I hope is true. My theory is however that if this is the case, JJ DIDN"T DIE! There's no way! They have to be warping the story a bit to save JJ. I think that John B and Sarah are telling this story to their child because they are the only ones who returned to live in the OBX. The pogues had to of known they weren't bringing Groff back from Morocco which was the only way to clear JJ of the murder. John B was locked up for a murder he didn't do and the courts didn't go easy on him until someone else confessed. The pogues had to of known they couldn't get Groff back which would mean JJ is a fugitive. I think JJ and Kie lived happily ever after in a different country and the same for Pope and Cleo. I think John B had to tell the story like this where JJ dies so no one looks for him.
Rudy stated in interviews and on social media that it was planned from the beginning for JJ to die ps he said quote he was loyal to a fault, something like that when Rudy read the character. As much as it sucks that they killed the best character off I do think it was necessary I hate it but sometimes loosing the best character is the only way to change the pace of a show make it more intense and do something that nobody was expecting. I don’t think it had anything to do with personal reasons or at least I hope not but I truly think the writers planned this a while ago and finally had the guts to pull it off 😢 ps RIP JJ we love u and miss u ❤😢 P4L

But in reality, his death wasn't planned, and rudy wanted to leave the show. If you look into some articles you can find this out. Many people who worked on the show went and gave articles news about behind the scenes drama and how rudy actually wanted to leave and the creators of the show( the brothers, I forgot their names) were upset with rudy because of his decision and they wanted him to be more professional.
I was so upset when I saw the ending of S4b. JJ had such a difficult life and to end like this is terrible. Through a knife attack? Through his dad? Unfortunately for me the finale overshadowed the fourth season, but I have to admit that the fourth season isn't bad. What bothered me is that I'm one of those Jiara shippers and Season 4 really didn't do anything for Jiara. And that makes me angry. and the Pogues will never be the same. You'll never get that vibe from S1 again. The friends are having fun, being silly and trying to catch treasure. Now it's getting dark. I love Kie (and the other Pogues) so I'll watch S5. and I'm excited but also scared for a Revenge season. Mainly because of Kie, she won't be the sweet, happy hippie girl anymore, but im also down for a different side of kie. I predict she won't be the one to kill Groff in the end. I'm assuming it will be Rafe or Luke.

I actually really enjoyed this season. I'm not happy that they did that but also like you said, if there was a character that it would happen to, it makes sense that it would be him. My only real complaint about this season is how bad Madison and Rudy's acting was in certain scenes together. Rudy did a fantastic job acting in solo but I feel there was so many missed opportunities with kie and jj and idk if that's cause of off screen drama or what. Kie's character didn't really do anything this season for the plot or story. Idk I am still gonna watch season 5 cause I think the show is still great but they need a way for kie to get back involved.
I really hope that rafe redemption arc is real like we are about to go in the last season i would love to actually see sarah and rafe acting like a family protecting each other showing loyalty and love i really hope we continue to see rafe and sarah evolve and heal their relationship and work together in season 5 to take their sister back and the money they deserve and actually be a family i really loved that sarah saved rafe and said that's my brother and i would love to see rafe become sorta a guardian protecter of Sarah and her baby i love that speech and hug between rafe and sarah i wish they kept john b out of it like why did they have to keep going his face when she was telling rafe about ward and we didn't need that line of him saying she's telling the truth i just wanted that moment to be about rafe and sarah i wish rafe and sarah made up sooner in the season but I'm glad they did i really hope we get sarah and rafe in the last season acting like family for a change.

I loved this season so much except for episode 9 - I personally think they should have had JJ spend that whole episode coming out of his freakout rather than digging deeper into the alcohol. And even this episode, I loved! But yeah his death really, really hurt me as a JJ fan and as a Jiara fan, but mainly as a JJ fan. It just feels cruel that he dies at the hand of his father - in revenge, not even in a heroic way - after spending his entire life being abused by his OTHER dad. I’m not one of the fans saying I won’t watch season 5 - I love these characters too much not to see how their journey ends - but I am struggling to see how the dynamic will work without JJ. Not because the others aren’t strong enough! But because I genuinely feel like the show needs each of them to function the way we’ve always loved it. I’m just sad tbh. But I can’t pretend this wasn’t a great season and that I didn’t love it, no matter how hurt I feel for this character
i totally agree. season 5 will definitely have wayyy more challenges, and i say that bc when John B was talking about JJ and his life when be died, he said he was the king of friendship and was the one that held them together. so i think in season 5, they are all really going to struggle with their friendships and their grieving, bc they all grieve in different ways. the whole group will probably have a falling out, but will realize that JJ would want them together. but yea, thas js my opinion🤷🏽♀️

I’m so upset. JJ was literally my absolute favorite character. The way he died was so stupid and pointless and completely unfair. It just feels wrong. Even if he still died this isn’t the way. They could have had him die saving one of his friends or Kiara, not just randomly standing there. And I guess the way I saw it is if they had to kill off a main character why why why did it have to be JJ? Yes JJ made dumb choices but he was a good person. Everything he did even when it was stupid was for those he loved. He was by far the most deserving of a good ending. Idk it just reminds me too much of how the world is cruel and unfair and i watch tv including this series to get away from that
