- The OG ONIX lol. Recorded between East 180th Street and Eastchester - Dyre Avenue. Enjoy =)
R160 ONIX: • NYC Subway HD Audio: A...
These have the best HVAC sounds ever. The loud fans sound great with the air conditioning on.
Reminds me of boarding an airplane.
It's just a damn shame, they didn't incorporate the same HVAC system into the R179s
Loud fans are NOT GREAT IN TUNNELS! Trust me, I've heard those damn things and it's so obnoxiously loud!
this HVAC noise on the R142A and R142 reminds me of the busy stations
A 380-665-1290 Hz pattern is seen when accelerating and that is coupled with a 1430-1240 Hz sound when cruising. The pattern is reversed when decelerating. The Metropolis 98B trains in Warsaw have the same pattern when accelerating, but they do not play that pattern when decelerating due to their use of combined asynchronous and synchronous elements in their traction motors.
I want a sound pack of this for my electric car the day I buy one.
Is that even possible?
imagine you can put any nyc train propulsion in your own car lol
@@morganlimes That would be fire
I love the 5 line so much it’s nice that you did this
Reminds me of paris MF01. They have the same converter but the traction chain is different, we don't have the alternative loud frequencies during traction and braking.
Damn, I was going to do this video
You can still do it no one is stopping you from doing it
Aren't you worried about your camera slipping off the platform? Did you secure it with something?
Nope. No need to.
I have a feeling you taped or glued a magnet onto to the bottom of your camera
Be careful. You might meet a pretty woman on the train. You two will start talking and you'll forget your camera is still on the train.........😁
@@milestone_achiever4634 I did no such thing. The camera is heavy enough to not be moved by the minuscule G-forces from acceleration and deceleration. And LMAO as if...
Why did NYC subway company never bother to use propper diaphragm connections between subway cars?
You’ll see them on the R211
The problem is when one car really smells the whole car will. Sounds odd but really makes a difference to the overall ride
Which is mire important, capacity or comfort
@@massrailfan8117 MTA should install axial exhaust fans in the trains then.
@@QuarioQuario54321 both
Fan Railer, you are an absolute legend when making vids bro. What's ur secret?
I Enjoyed Video
This train sounds like Alstom Metropolis 98B in Warsaw Metro
It’d be cool if you had the tools to do an inductor recording of the traction motors.
m.ua-cam.com/video/KhnxXwO_zAM/v-deo.html
watch your ears
This propulsion also sounds like R160A.
Because they use the same system
My dad would murder me if I was standing there..
It's illegal anyway, which is why I'm not actually standing there. I'm sitting inside.
Really? I haven’t seen any MTA rules on that.
... there is LITERALLY an announcement made on the train every 15 min or so about how it is against the rules. If you're caught you will be issued a ticket for something like $100
Is that new? Because when I’m on the train from 179th street Jamaica I never noticed any announcements like that.
The announcements made every 15 minutes over how it's illegal to stand in between trains is actually not new. It has been there since the first NTT traincars were placed into passenger service
The R142 sounds exactly like R160A
It’s not exactly the same.
I like these kinds of videos, can you do one on the R143 L from Broadway Junction to Rockaway Pkwy, they haul from new lots to 105 St
Also do the R179 J from myrtle to marcy (local)
I typically try not to record like this on elevated structures. Too many track joints. If I did record the L train this way, it would be in the underground sections. There are a few good stretches in Brooklyn.
Fan Railer oh okay...yeah the L has a really good section between Halsey and Myrtle Wyckoff (manhattan bound) and from Dekalb to Jefferson where they haul. Also the manhattan bound track at Dekalb leaving the station has a really big rail gap, Canarsie platform on Jefferson at the front has it too
Does the R142 want to fit with the R160?
This Subway car have the same propulsion just like R160A.
Actually other way around. The R142 came before the R160A-1&2 and R160B. The R160 Alstom Onix has a different pitched Onix and has more notes then the R142s Onix.
Uses the same propulsion on the R160
The R142 came first
Was the camera duct taped to the platform or something?
Nope, it just sits on the floor.
@@FanRailer wow. I probs wouldn't trust that lol
They sound exactly the same
0:10 someone please answer this question for me what makes that sound the wheel or rail or the engine
IF you're talking about the banging noise, that is the jointed rail being run over by the train wheels.

ALSTOM METROPOLIS 98B WARSAW METRO🇵🇱
I know
Not as satisfying as R160A
Because The R142 Is Better.
