Hi - good question. The extras make great gifts for friends who missed out. Sometimes I'll trade with other collectors for something different that I didn't pick up initially. I don't think flipping RSD titles is really a thing - virtually everything that came out seems readily available on Discogs at the normal retail price. Thanks for your comment!
Glad to see I'm not the only one who gets a TON of rsd releases, yeah, def not rich just using those extra funds in a diff way, an investment as I say, bout time to make more shelf space 😆 But what a FUN addiction this can be!
Glad you got what you're looking for! I have to visit Up the Creek next time I'm in the East Bay. Berkeley & Contra Costa County are my old stomping grounds when I was in my late teens.
I was surprised. I couldn't get out in the morning, but was able to hit a store around 3. They had everything I wanted, and my maybes. I'm wondering the same thing, was this a down year for selection? Are less people going out to RSD/ RSD BF? I do think the inventory at stores is out of whack. My store in Chicago got one GD, and one Garcia box set, and a lot of people in line wanted it. I get Amoeba is a much bigger store, but if it's just sitting there, it doesn't do anyone any good.
Great RSD pick ups, I bought a few including Saracho En Medio a interesting record, sort of progressive Latin free jazz. Also I really like the background music you play. It sounds like girl group oldies it’s very tasty…….✌
I think you have the same affliction as my wife. I’m starting to get it myself. I think I’m lucky that I don’t have record stores readily available to me. Or that could be a problem. Multiple copies I do that all the time, they will find a home, like you said, friends, gifts, or possibly sell them outright someday. Thanks for taking the time to do this video. I appreciate it.
Thanks for the positive feedback! Yes, the obsession with records really is an affliction. You're kinda lucky if you don't have too many stores tempting you. Appreciate your comment!
Wow, super rare to find someone with the exact same model. It's the Blaupunkt Arkansas, probably 1958 or 59. Mine is missing the turntable but the radio works.
I always go to Mill Valley Music in Mill Valley. Gary, the owner always has a huge inventory of RSD titles. I went by there around noon on Friday and he had everything on your list in multiple copies. Super nice guy and a small local store. He has a large inventory of prior RDS titles as well. Prepare to dig.
Yes, Mill Valley Music is a great store. I featured them in my previous RSD video and I also found lots of titles there. The upstairs with previous RSD stock is crazy!
I got Fleetwood Mac's The Alternate Collection on CD & Vinyl (had to have the alternate covers in all their 12 x 12 glory), Jazz Dispensary's Haunted High, Soul Coughing's Lust In Phaze, Todd Rundgren's Something/Anything, & thx to your recommendation ordered Stark Reality's Discovers Hoagy Carmichael's Music Shop. I did these 100% online as I don't have an independent record shop within 30 miles of me & the thought of heading into Boston on Black Friday terrifies me, lol.
Glad you were able to get all those cool titles. The Todd Rundgren sounds amazing. I didn't know about Stark Reality until I saw it mentioned in other videos. It's like psychedelic 1930s music!
What a great video which captured the spirit of the day ! I am a bit confused with so many inventory …did they press more than usual or less customers ? Tx again
Thanks so much for your comment! I think I just like being in record stores, and this event gives me a reason to visit a few. Not sure why Amoeba had so many leftovers on Saturday!
I was able to get the Jimi Hendrix official bootleg, the Janis Joplin Typewriter Tapes, and the Doors Paris Blues. But they didn't even have the Jefferson Airplane Monterey 1967 show or the Ted Nugent LP. I don't know if the record store just didn't order it or if they didn't receive it? But I was able to order the Jefferson Airplane LP off of Discogs from a record company the next morning and it only cost me an extra $5 for it. I would have liked to have gotten the Fleetwood Mac alternates but I already had a number of them and I wasn't going to pay $200 to get just a few I didn't have. I was kind of surprised that it didn't look like my local record store in Fort Worth had gotten a lot of the items I wanted to at least look at and decide if I wanted to buy them. But I pretty much got what I wanted and went for even if it did require buying one of the albums online the next day. What was the price on the GD box set? I believe it was a box set anyway? I didn't really look at that one but I have been wanting to get some of these RSD GD releases but they've been pretty high price I believe. At least some of the ones I've seen have been. Brian in Fort Worth ,, 🎶
Yeah it seems really unpredictable, stores will get some records but not others. Glad you were able to get the Jefferson Airplane. I think the GD box set was $125. It seems to be selling on Discogs for less now, same with a lot of other titles. Thanks for your comment!
@@collectrify Thanks for the quick reply back and the info too! I might do some searching for the GD box set tomorrow? I just subscribed to your channel and I look forward to checking out your vinyl videos. Have a great night... Brian in Fort Worth 🎶
Wow, so many copies left over. Especially Jefferson Airplane, The Doors, Etta James, Bobby Cole, Dream Widow, practically all the box sets, and other albums that became scarce in my area. The three big sellers in the store I went to on RSD Friday were: The Doors, Duran Duran, and Thelonius Monk. Though other titles sold out when they became available online, such as all the Motown (which I walked away with one after purchasing😊).
Yes, I saw a lot of people buying those three titles too. I was tempted to get all the Motown ones, even though I have originals - so I couldn't really justify it. I just got the Smokey.
This last flip through you did I didn't see half the stuff you showed including Motown or the Ringo Starr. I actually got a copy of Fleetwood Mac online the next day. I was disappointed since the shop I got to here in NY is a top vendor. Other than that I found it lackluster.
Hey glad you were able to get the Fleetwood Mac. Yeah, I heard some folks weren't really into this RSD list. I appreciated discovering some cool music I never knew about, like the Bobby Cole.
I don't participate in RSD. I'm not into waiting in lines for stuff I don't want to listen to. I've seen maybe 2 items in the past 5 years available on RSD that I actually would want.
Once again another RSD has come and gone and yet again not one title I would even be vaguely interested in. Just don’t see the point in many of the releases issued for RSD. I much prefer finding new artists and music on sites like Bandcamp and buying releases that way as it’s a much better way of supporting the artist too
Number one are you rich, why would you buy multiple copies of the same thing, unless you intend to sell them, why is the uk only getting about half what the Americans are getting an I'd say that last shop over ordered
Definitely not rich! I just love music and records, and all my resources go to that rather than things that most normal and sane people would prioritize! I'll trade any multiples I have or give as gifts. Appreciate your comment!
Yeah Amoeba is a monster of a store in a touristy location with tons of shoppers every day. It may take a few months, but they'll sell most of that stock.
They only had to me copy of Dead Milkmen left at Amoeba. Of course that was the most limited pressing this year I believe with of only 2500 total copies pressed. I was in Alpharetta, Georgia and I managed to score the last copy they had at Mojo Vinyl. I wanted the Townes Van Zandt as well but I found an original. Non-RSD press of Lee Hazelwood &s Love and Other Crimes and bought that instead.
Make sure to stay to the end for a surprise to the end of my video.....I'm actually a Flipper 😂😂😂😂
Why multiple box sets?
Nice haul of stuff! I was mainly looking for the Doors, Ringo, Bowie, and Hendrix releases and was lucky enough to find them.
Hands down the best RSD haul video I have seen. Love all your content. Keep ‘em coming…
Thank you so much for the kind comment! I'm hoping to keep making more videos and get deeper into the heart of music.
the eric burden and war box set is amazing - first thing I grabbed , next to the doors paris blues ( the doors album was damaged :(
I’m curious as to why you picked up multiple copies. Are you archiving the extras? Flipping them? Other reason?

Wow, you spent a lot of money. Good haul.
Great eye! For everything thanks
Cool scores! That must have set you back a paycheck or two but Getting good music is worth it! Good video footage too! Thumbs up! Trish
Hi - really appreciate the positive comment! Yeah, I just love music and it's hard to resist a day where you're encouraged to go a little crazy.

Yes - Up The Creek was a nice surprise, and I sometimes forget how great that whole area is. Really appreciate your comment!

International Submarine Band’s extended edition album was posted on Spotify for RSD, do you know if this only a digital version?
I was the 100th thumbs up! 🎉
Thank you - I'm honored! I've learned so much from your videos, especially about psych!
A bit off topic but I have the exact same Radiogram / Cocktail cabinet as you have behind you :)
Wow, super rare to find someone with the exact same model. It's the Blaupunkt Arkansas, probably 1958 or 59. Mine is missing the turntable but the radio works.
Jeez, how much did you spend that day?

This guy: yes
Loved seeing the pick ups !

You would bore hole in wooden horse + why do you need 2 copies ? Flipper ?
You have quite a haul. I don’t do RSD. I’m too old and too lazy and too cheap. :).
Yeah I wasn't sure I would go this time, but it ended up being a fun experience. Thanks for your comment!

Your voice is in Monophonic sound.

I'd buy your extra todd rundgren box if you're selling. Couldn't find one.
If you want to know why there are so many copies on the shelf look no farther than the prices on the gas pumps.
Yeah good point - I'm hearing that Black Friday in general was very different from even last year, with far fewer shoppers.
I don't participate in RSD. I'm not into waiting in lines for stuff I don't want to listen to. I've seen maybe 2 items in the past 5 years available on RSD that I actually would want.

The last shop is Ameoba, the largest independent record store in the USA. They will move all those copies eventually.
Definitely not rich! I just love music and records, and all my resources go to that rather than things that most normal and sane people would prioritize! I'll trade any multiples I have or give as gifts. Appreciate your comment!

1234go. Nice I’ve purchased from them online here in Ava. Cool to see the store.
Yeah, 1-2-3-4 Go is a cool store. I think they just updated their online store. Appreciate your comment!
