I stick with the Special Edition version every time I watch this movie on DVD.

He claims that the version of Alien Resurrection that we're about to watch (the Special Edition) is NOT a Director's Cut. Which I call bullshit, because really there's a difference between a Theatrical Cut and a Director's Cut. A Theatrical Cut is normally the version of the film you see in theaters, while the Director's Cut is normally reserved for Home Video release, or sometimes never show up at all.
I'm sorry, but I don't think Jean-Pierre Jeunet knew what he was saying about the Special Edition of Alien Resurrection.

Well you see, he *is* right. It's much like how the Alien Director's Cut is called a Director's Cut... both directors were happy with the theatrical version as it was, they didn't want to make any changes, but Fox offered it to them and they decided to add more content (or in Ridley Scott's case, completely re-cut it with the added content and take out some content that was in there to keep the pacing the same).
Technically yes it is a Director's Cut, but that's only because it's an alternate version with the director's seal of approval, and in this case, that seal is basically saying that they approve of both cuts. It's rather hard to explain in situations like these.
