It’s always amazing to see older vehicles and items like these that are still working today, (maybe with a few problems, obviously)
Hallo
Can’t believe you here kimi
Kimi you will not have the drink
Jimmy Broadbent: Drive a vintage F1 car around Buckmore Park.
Matt: Drives a 62 year old cart that breaks down
Last time I was at my grandpa's, I drove his left rear wheel drive, 50cc 1960s go kart. It was such a fun experience! I was surprised I could barely tell it was only 1wd too.
I had, and raced, a 1968 California cart, with a 5 hp B & S, and right wheel drive. It had paddle brakes, that pushed on the tires. It was pretty fast (48 mph) and it stopped pretty well. Tons of fun!!
@@SuperBlazer00 agreed! Doesn't take too much to have fun!
Your video on the history of karting was actually my main source for my year 10 elective study at school. It’s great to see one of the old karts in action
You know it’s a good day, when Matt Amys uploads 👍
hi matt i have a whole collection of old 1960,1970,1980 go karts and a couple of 1990,2000
You should make a video showing them off!
I only have a 1960 neato yard Kart idk if i wanna modify it and race it or just restore it i wish I had some that you have
This looks very primativ to what we had.
In the early 60s my mother owned the cafe at the go kart track In jersey channel Islands.
I worked there as a mechanic for two years before joining the army. I worked together with the likes of Tico Martini and Eric Bisson . ( Tico became a household name in France building formula 2 racing cars Eric did lots of work developing hover craft. In 62 Eric gave me his Faster - Kart class 4 chassis and Tico gave me his crank case for my Villiers 9 e engine, Just for those interested even in those days our tuning of the 9e Engine included filling the crank case turning the barrel around so I carb was on the front, coil ignition, etc scwish head +++ and hours of work on the piston and barrel with brasso.
These days you just buy everything already done.
Class four was fun.
The combination was very quick out performing
Kommet and parrilla engines class 1 on our small but fast track at quennevias in Jersey channel Islands. Tico built his famous 6ft wheel base hill climb special, powered by a Triumph Bonneville
Engine in the workshop. I think Jersey was well advanced in Karting In the early 60s due to the wonderful people who enthused and contributed to a great sport .
We also built all the hire karts in house. Welding from tubing to Tico and Erics design. J L O engines rear drum break built obviously like a tank to withstand the driving and crashes the tourist got up to. In the summer season we were always visited by visiting pop groups such as the Beatles and the rolling stones ( we had another name for the latter. They behaved like animals
Even the airline they were flying with refused to fly them back to the UK. They also got pelted with tomatos at their first performance.
Anyway karting is a great sport.
Take yourself back to the good old days of birthday party GoKarting: the cigarette smog, the broken shins, the breaks for that luminous fruit drink that truned a bunch of kids blind. Wasn't that heaven? Well, now's your opportunity to relive the memories on the highway with no adult supervision.
That kart is almost like my first kart which was an old Rupp Kart with the front end having extreme negitive camber. That kart still excise but the present owner have newtrual out the camber. After a while I could not get origenal tyres so I was forced to up grade to newer wheel and discovered it ran far better with them.
If that go-pro had not stabilised the footage you wouldn't have had any footage at all lol. These types of carts were used untill well into the 70's on some tracks in my country and yeah.... I just missed these but I have driven the next generation which was slightly but not much better. They were loads of fun though (and dangerous, omg where they dangerous lol)
Clint is Johnny Herbert’s identical voice twin.
Hope that's a good thing lol
@@bohdyx it is indeed, makes any driving advice carry a lot more weight. Could also come in handy getting into places that use an intercom 🙈
Great restoration on that kart ... looks original.. the crudness of it is beautiful.
Its literally an engine fitted into some welded pieces of metal
after seeing this video I finally made the connection as to why the original cars from the Super Mario Kart Videogames look like that, that's awesome!
I haven't driven Buckmore Park in years. Maybe I should give it another visit
What next
Matt drives the oldest race sim XD
I remember Wolfgang von trips driving one of these and also Steve Mcqueen.
Hahaha youre a mad lad for driving that tiny thing. I recently built a karting chassis that is 2 years older than me. A birell 125cc shifter kart from the 1995.
Amazing!!!
Great video Matt
Hello Matt, Just a request. Can you please make F1 Graphic Templates in JPG/PSD Format
Has no one cleaned the carburetor jet for god sake , there's no reason it should have cut out like that
Very, very interesting video!
SHOULD THE GO KART STARTER BE On THE BACK Of THE SEAT
Someone needs to do a proper job of restoring that kart
it is properly restored ... that "barn fresh" look is more valuable than making them look like new.
It’s like my dirt kart
Want a good kart curcuit rednal and hooten farm karting tracks
2:02 Sure you dont want kids?
I suppressed that kart doesn’t have some type of disfunction like me in the bedroom
Pls don’t ban me
