Greetings,
My name is Jeff Gray. On 5/7/24 I visited New Tampa Community Park to peacefully and politely exercise my right to free speech on a traditional public forum. I was standing on a public sidewalk on the grounds of New Tampa Community Park peacefully spreading the message of God Bless The Homeless Veterans to people coming and going from the park. Public Parks and public sidewalks have long been recognized as traditional public forums for the expression of free speech. The City of Tampa Parks and Recreation’s official website describes The New Tampa Community Park and its recreation center as a natural gathering place for the community. At all times while I was on public park property I was peacefully and politely engaged in constitutionally protected free speech. I violated no park policies and I violated no law laws.
However, Site Supervisor Linda Hall called the Tampa Police Department and had me trespassed under threat of arrest for 180 days because she arbitrarily decided that my free speech was inappropriate.
I am requesting that the unjustified and unconstitutional trespass warning against me to be immediately and fully rescinded. I am also submitting an official complaint against Linda Hall for her actions resulting in my trespass.
I patiently await your response to both my request to rescind the trespass and for my complaint against Linda Hall.

This is a perfect example of willful ignorance, the effort that these cops ALL spent looking for a way to violate your rights could have been spent wit ONE of them researching the applicable laws and constitutional protections instead of ALL of them maintaining their willful ignorance. The "Senior Assistant City Attorney Police Department" is derelict in his duties for not proactively advising the PD of the rights of citizens under the Constitution. That is in fact a serious breach of his ethical obligations that led to and will continue to lead to citizens having their rights violated.
The .US. Supreme Court's recent decision deeming being homeless a crime has the same ethical short comings.

And that's part of the problem. SHE succeeded in having HYO removed unlawfully. Unless there are repercussions for her, guaranteed she will do it again. She needs a demotion, retraining, whatever, with the caveat that if there are complaints against her again for unlawful actions as a CITY EMPLOYEE she will be terminated.

It's frustrating that the manager of the facility can be wrong, and the cop can be wrong, but if you stand your ground, you're still going to jail. Then 2 weeks later some nerd on the phone can tell you you were right and they were wrong, and the manager and the cop will never care one bit.
The worst part is they will still think they won because you still took the ride, got booked and possibly sat in jail and might have had to hire a lawyer and it didn't cost them a dime. You might have had to post bail, pay for an attorney and if it goes to court the cops will probably get overtime for sitting there waiting to testify. Us stupid taxpayers will pay for the cop's party. 🤣🪖🤣

Rescinding the trespass warning is important, but what really needs to happen is for these childish criminal government officials to be held accountable for the crimes they committed in issuing the trespass warning. They need to understand that their actions are criminal and could land them in federal prison. You don't get to deprive people of their Constitutional rights under the color of law.

In other words, the City of Tampa acknowledges that all of the city workers involved in the incident are completely ignorant of basic laws and civil rights, and we are backtracking on the unlawful trespass that was issued by those city workers. No apology mentioned for our huge mistake, our employment of unqualified and uneducated workers, and lack of important training for our city workers.

Talking about education. As far as I can ascertain some states have laws regarding filming and loitering within an certain area near schools, and I wouldn't want to have to pay to go to the Supreme Court to finds out if school groups are classed as being part of a school when on outside visits. I'd just advise that when children are nearby move away, especially as Karens have the right to bear arms although perhaps they shouldn't.

The public space outside is for everyone to use in a way they see fit, walking, skipping or standing on the kerb with a sign that simple says pray for our homeless veterans. Living in Mississippi and knowing through your videos that most police departments here have no idea about our rights I was watching our local news. Tupelo, Mississippi city council is in the process of eliminating panhandling and moving homeless out of public areas. I would be honored to meet you in Tupelo to stand with you at city hall or any other area to teach them about our constitutional rights!
I previously lived in north MS and have been to Tupelo many times. It doesn’t surprise me that they are wanting to pass this. Jason cares more about trying to get visitors there than he does following the Constitution. I hope Jeff sees this and gets back to you.

What’s wrong with people? My son and I discovered a homeless mentally challenged man at the McDonald’s begging for breakfast. People ignored him and it was such a blessing for US to feed him that morning. Less than $10 and he was so happy. He’s a human being for God’s sake. I am a disabled nurse and don’t make a lot of money but I will never understand where humanity went. God bless the homeless veterans!!
