We have 7 Queens
1-White Queen
2-Black Queen
3-Killer Queen
4-Freddie Mercury
5-Roger Taylor
6-John Deacon
7-Brian May
And Spike Edney
@@happylemming6343 yessss, underrated guy
the march of the black queen
And Mother Mercury?
The seven Queens of rhye
I read somewhere Brian wrote this song about a girl he really fancied at uni, but he was too shy to approach. That poor girl missed out on someone WONDERFUL!
But form it all we got this. I'd say mankind has come out the winner on this one.
She was blind. Literally. That's why the lyric is "she cannot see"...
Nah inspired by a book
At least the outcome was this beautiful song
They actually became lifelong friends apparently.
This song is fucking beautiful and underrated.
+Darim Alan Fen Maybe, but not to Queen fans, this song was never released as a single.
Awesome song huh ! Greetings from Holland my friend !
It has all of the ingredients for a perfect Queen song, but as you say, underrated!
I agree, this song, Father to Son & March of the Black Queen never got the attention they deserved. These are the songs that introduced me to Queen; I've been a life long fan ever since.
Melanni Arfad And you’re a foul mouthed nobody who won’t be remembered long enough to be underrated
@@emilymcmanus580 black queen>white queen
Why is this always happening? When I find a song that was written by Brian I melt. His romantic and powerful mind is like magic. Wow, he must be the type of guy who I'd fall for if I met him in the 70s.
Don't listen to Fat bottomed girls then.
@@libbykelly2809 😂😂😂
As great of a guy as he seems, I honestly could never date a vegetarian.
@@KidaMilo89 he wasn't always a vegetarian

This song is a heap of elegance, fragility and struggle for love.
Ah... Brian...
Mongalz you described Brian May
This was my sister’s favorite Queen song. She passed away a year ago. As per her wishes, “White Queen” was played at her funeral. I miss my sister so much. #cancersucks
.......love......
Chin up :)
Oh I’m so sorry to hear about that :( I must say your sister had a great music taste
so sad...
I'm sorry :(.
Dear Barbara, please may I add my deepest deepest condolences to you for your loss. My thoughts are with you and so glad you share my tastes in music.
For the record, I lost my Dearest Mother on 11th September 2019 and am still raw with grief, but EARLY Queen + other 1970s music keeps me going. I can see and hear the Beatles in their first four albums.
Lots of ♥️ and Best wishes to you, Barbara.
Love Geoff ♥️🌹
Queen is the only group in history in which every member has composed more than one chart-topping single. Just another reason why it's the best band in history.
Lol
Man
The white queen
The black queen
The killer queen
Not to mention God Save the Queen ;)
Then there is Great King Rat, Our Fairy King, they have a thing for the royalty stuff.
The black queen kills the white queen then she becomes the killer queen, but god save the white queen
omg exactly what i was thinking!
@@afonsocesar1667 Brilliant
Easily the most underrated Queen song!
ArmComedy listen to it live even better than the studio
Alongside " The March of the Black Queen" imho - peace
The March Of The Black Queen and The Prophet Song is better.
@@pablogreen654 no :v
It's not underrated. It's just that most people haven't heard it. Such as it is with album tracks.
“Stars of lovingness in her hair” is such a beautiful line and I’ve had this song and the live versions on repeat over the past few days.
Just like Mozart's work, each Queen song has a beauty on its own.
I picked up on "Queen II" in 1993 and listened to it probably 5000 times since.
Still I never get tired of its grandeur and beauty!
It was 1978 for me. I bought News of the World, and the next day bought every Queen album ever recorded. Still have them all on vinyl.
First time I see somebody else comparing them to Mozart. I feel the exact same way. For me it was about 2011 but I guess I just grew up with them without even noticing, and then they grew up in me
Mozart. I think any member of Queen would be embarrassed by such a ridiculous comparison.
@@pparker768 they won't be embarrassed by that, All the queen members (brian, roger, john. And freddie) are down to earth people.
Me: 1975
this song is so underrated
+itsnucktime I sooooo think so too!!!
+itsnucktime Almost as good as the March of the black queen
+In1998able It´s so hard to compare one song to another ( sorry my bad english ) Queen has a song for every mood! When I´m down and depressed I listen to WHO WANTS TO LIVE FOREVER and when I´m in a good mood I love to listen to "WHITE MAN" or so...
Genomizer S. Just comparing the white queen to the black queen both from the same album
+itsnucktime Queen is underrated
This is such a Brian song.
Fat Bottomed Girls is also written by Brian May, but it doesn't fall to the "such a Brian song" category now, does it?
@@toptop961 Might be the case of an exception that proves the rule. :)
@@mothbrain8327 Some of them are about Fat Bottomed Girls
@@toptop961 , and about tying their mothers down
xMyst ! The prophets song
Sometimes I think Brian wrote songs that complemented Freddie's songs like:
- March of the Black Queen x White Queen
- Bohemian Rhapsody x The Prophets Song
- We are the Champions × We will Rock You
- Bicycle Race × Fat Bottomed Girls
There are probably a lot more I can't think of right now, but yeah.
We are the Champions x We will Rock you
it's not really a theory, it's kind of obvious. WWRY and WATC for example, were both written because Freddie and Brian both wanted to write a song that they could do with the audience (they decided together to both wrote 1 song each)
Bicycle Race references FBG and vice versa in the lyrics
😳
this is so fucking truee
Love of my life and 39
Ben Hardy said this was one of his most favourite Queen songs.
I love him even more now.
This song became one of my personal favorites from "Queen II".
Happy Birthday Brian May. One of the world's most extraordinary and creatively original guitarists and songwriters. "White Queen" is just one example of his mastery. Stunning, haunting, beautiful and.....timeless.
totally AGREE a master of dynamics/harmony/melody
This song is just magic
Lelly Garwood what's more amazing is that Brian was 27 when he wrote it. He'll never own up but he's a musical genius.
Yes, agree!
all of their songs are
My dad saw them perform this when they opened for Mott The Hoople. He introduced me to their music WAY BEFORE they were on the USA radio radar. Loved them then as now. Thanks dad, miss you. Miss you too, Freddie.
Wow that’s really something!
I saw them too! I was 12 years old and I loved them so much! What a thrill!
@user-tn8yb2mk1n Mott the Hopple was the band Ian Hunter was in.
@ashley-fm4ri xddd calm down bro, we know Queen is better. But Mott the Hoople got a great song "All the young dudes". Look it up
It's a nice song, but let's face it, Freddie could sing the boston phonebook and it would be good.
True
Mic Tod™ very true
Lelly Garwood
no fucking duh
freddie could read a report card full of f's and it would sound fucking amazing
Mic Tod™ I don't understand what you want to say
ie: Freddie could sing 'anything' and it'd be good - and better than most anyone else.
Unpopular opinion: white queen is Queen’s greatest ballad
I agree
Could be. For me, it's either this one or "Nevermore" on the same album, can't decide which.
Love of my life hits me harder tbh but that's just me
@@megumin4564 listen to you take my by breath away.
Not unpopular with me. It's been my favorite Queen song since the 70s.
This has been my favorite Brian May composition since the 70s, those haunting background vocals are so moving, not to mention a typically awesome vocal delivery from Freddie. My only regret is that I saw them in concert about a year or two too late, when they were no longer performing this song. I think the production on this whole album, particularly on March of the Black Queen, was insanely ahead-of-its-time!
I saw them perform this only once - the very first time I saw them in concert. Was very sad it was not put back into concert rotation in later years. Such a gorgeous song. One of my very favorites from the pen of Brian May.
😊
Queen II is my all time favourite album. It's impossible to explain (besides i'm french, so even harder in english), but each time I listen to it, i get the impression it opens the door to a world that only I can access. I viscerally understand it. I agree with each and every single note, each and every single word. It's like my ultimate haven. I wouldn't say all the songs in this album are Queen's best, but as a whole, I would not change a single thing, I wouldn't trade a loser in the end for a Boh Rhap or whatever. All the songs are all exactly where they need to be to tell the whole story of the album. Always takes me to a secret and extraordinary fantasy world, always fills me with joy, a soothing warmth i can't explain. Nothing can reach me when I'm in Queen II. Just love it.
I know exactly what you mean. It's a true work of art, and the emotions it elicits are hard to put into words. It's a journey as well.
Beautiful song, but man. The live version is something else. They took this song and made it 10x better, which I didn't think could be done, considering this song is already a masterpiece.
They added the piano in the live version and the later BBC studio version, as well as replacing the acoustic solo (sitar sounding) with a sublime electric solo, or duet with piano, to be more accurate. That made a hell of a difference IMO.
I love this but the live version at hammersmith is absolutely breathtaking!!!
Agree 100%
@@lisab7233 I agree, the Hammersmith version is awesome, I watch the video all the time.
Yes ODEON HAMMERSMITH version is stunning.
It's wonderful what Brain stated while making this album together, saying this is the music they truly wanted to make. I have no words other than, this is a nearly flawless album! One of my favorites of all time!
Queen 2 was always one of my favourite albums I used to play it over and over, One day my son who was about 14 at the time said if you keep playing this record I'm gonna break it .So I said I'd like to see you try .so he did he brought it to me and snapped it in half ,I thought little bastard But when Freddy died he went out and bought me all the Queen albums on CD He is now 54 and I am 77 and I'm fortunate enough to say I went and saw Queen in concert 3 times ,and I still love them
Phyllis Bowler :: wow, I am also a QUEEN fan fantastic! Wonderful story to share... I'm going to tell you that I have never heard the complete QUEEN II recording. Shame on me. My next purchase will be that. I also have a son who is very into music. Like the music of that era. He's on the autism spectrum and has unbelievable memory recall skills....nice to feel connected. Thank you.
What do mean "Nearly Flawless"? 😁 This is one of two Queen albums that are COMPLETELY flawless(What I consider to be flawless): Queen 2 and A Night At The Opera...
@@anirudhsubramanian4781 hmm, NATO has Sweet Lady - clearly an album filler and easily one of their worst songs ..
I think I'm I Love With My Car is also a very poor, song, full of clichés and very un-Queen like in quality.
Queen II is flawless.
That 30 second bit from about 3:38 - 4:09 is pure magic. The whole song is really.. but that part especially.
Masterpiece of... music rock ?, no, just masterful song, beyond genres

TOTALLY!!!
No Freddie, you're the Queen that walks, marches and blows my mind.
This is the best comment
Queen 2 was easily their best album. And very few could name a single song on it.
That song is probably Seven Seas Of Rhye.
This song is an obscure classic from one of the coolest most fascinating albums ever. This is an example of Queen's majestic musical compositions.Queen's music is both timeless and eclectic. This song could have been written in Shakespeare's time and still be a classic 500 years later.
One of the most beautiful songs ever written.
Queen II, the best of all the rest.
This is one of those magical tracks from Queen II that has been always in my mind, so melodic, it creates such intense atmosphere it gives me goosebumps every time. With tracks like this you can appreciate having a good sound system to listen to it with. Thanks so much for sharing this!
The Whole album is just pure magic✨
The lyrics of this song reminds me about a crush I had. I liked a girl, but I was too shy to tell her. The fun fact is that practically everything in the song matches with my experience... What I love about this song is that every time I listen to it, it's like having a part of my life sung by Freddie: such beautiful feeling❤️
Holy shit! That guitar solo is just incredible!!
It's a sitar solo
@@alrivers2297 actually it's not sitar, one of the old acoustic guitar of Brian, with very old strings
@@xyildiz oh wow, fooled me. I looked it up on wiki and it says they altered an acoustic guitar to make it sound like a sitar.

The live version is more soulful and emotional but every Queen song has its own magic especially the 1970s albums.
Thank you Brian May for this beautiful song! Vocal delivery by Freddie is amazing too. Definitely a favorite for me.
2:51 this never gets old
I hear you.
how people make friends ☝
Those two minutes from that very point in the song (So still I wait) until its end is the best two minutes in Queen's entire recorded oeuvre. This song is their absolute best. I agree with you 100%. It never ever gets old. I clearly remember hearing it for the first time 32 years ago.
That bit always gave me chills. After the most significant relationship I've had ended, it also makes me feel like crying, but like in the song, no tear in my eyes...
@@Mike-pf1ru This is Indian classical ....
you ever just want to express how much you love Queen but it's impossible because these emotions are so hard to put into words??
For me the songs are hauntigly nostalgic but I don't know them for more than a year.
I'd always thought there was some cosmic significance to this song but it's simply about some girl Brian May fancied in the college canteen.
QUEEN II is by far the best album they´ve ever made. Full of great tracks and the sonics and full of emotion. Freddie really gives his very best and so does Brian, Roger and John. I´ve listened to this album since 1974 and I still get these strong vibes!!!!
Queen II is their real masterpiece if you ask me. There's just something about it that's hard to describe.
Queen were a very intelligent band. It showed in their music.
Freddie: "no tears in my eyes..."
Me: you have no idea how are my eyes by this point, Freddie!
I had this on original vinyl and then cd. Nothing beats the vinyl. no next track jumps and silly track spacings..... the LP gives you the pure uninterrupted beauty. This album is a work of art.
My God... I have ignored this amazing music for so long. Thinking Queen are nothing but their big arena songs. Boy was I wrong, I can sit here for hours being blown away by all the other songs they made and put their love into.
I adore this entire album. This song can do magical things to any listener! Queen for now Queen forever!
Queen's most underrated song

So sad her eyes
Smiling dark eyes
So sad her eyes
As it began
On such a breathless night as this
Upon my brow the lightest kiss
I walked alone
And all around the air did say
My lady soon will stir this way
In sorrow known
The white queen walks and
The night grows pale
Stars of lovingness in her hair
Needing - unheard
Pleading - one word
So sad my eyes
She cannot see
How did thee fare, what have thee seen
The mother of the willow green
I call her name
And 'neath her window have I stayed
I loved the footsteps that she made
And when she came
White queen how my heart did ache
And dry my lips no word would make
So still I wait
My goddess hear my darkest fear
I speak too late
It's for evermore that I wait
Dear friend goodbye
No tear in my eyes
So sad it ends
As it began
Queen in 1974 was so magical
Their best ballad by far.
Brian May is such a beautiful and complex singer/ songwriter.

I agree with you wholeheartedly! Just full of masterpieces.
I loved the rock and roll Queen with their long hair and flowy satin outfits!
One of my favorite concerts in '75. They opened with Now I'm Here and ended with White Queen. I saw them in concert every year and watched them evolve from intense lyrical songs to somewhat cheesy commercialism. It's a pity that Brian's vision for the band waned as a result.

It's a very progressive rock song. I've been listening Queen since I was 13, now I'm 54, and it's the first time I hear it. And I´m astonished.
Such a beautiful and underrated song! My favourite song song of all time !I love this ! Brian put his soul in this song !
why is it i would always pictured Queen II album as a story book? every song were suspiciously tied to one and other, and they have black and white Queens, Dragon, Ogre battle and great king rat...such a grimm brother's stories it is...
Nurlinda F Sihotang THANK YOU, I've been saying the exact same thing for years!!! Somehow I could easily picture a story going on throughout the album... I think that's the reason for it being my favourite Queen album. 💜

Live at Hammersmith 1975 is the best version ever done of this song and Freddies piano playing along with Brian guitar playing in that live version will take you outta this universe. Anything that can give you tears and chills at the same time is amazing. Seriously, go listen to that one and come back, there is zero comparison between the two. It's like two totally different songs. Oh and I would 100% wear headphones for that one for full effect! You're welcome! 😉
The March of the Black Queen, White Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody are three of the best songs to please my ears!
