Moza Racing have kindly provided me their R5 Bundle for review. This is my first race in iRacing wth the rim & DD wheelbase. A review video of the bundle will be coming in a couple of weeks after I have tested it.
From having been an Atari800xl(1983-isch)/Commodore Amiga500(1990-isch) and later a console (Ps1&2 Xbox,o.g. 360, and One-s)user playing race games have used a lot of different brands (from cheap non ffb to ffb Logitech mostly ) wheelsets, 8 months ago I finally went to PC and sim racing with a Moza r5 lincl. ite brake kit and it's absolutely worth every penny spent. I should have gone PC sooner, have fun on track.
Martin from the race here. Long time fan of your channel. Thought I would finally get a chance to race you Scott given I qualified right behind you. Wasn't to be! As you quite rightly pointed out the guy in front of me braked crazy early. Congrats on the P5. Hope to see you on track again this week.
Hey buddy! Ah yeah it was a shame. Not much you can do there other than what you did. I'll be racing plenty here this week so sure I'll see you on track again!
I recently got a R5 as well (£200 from CEX) insane upgrade from the thrustmaster t248 I had , does take a little while to dial in and get used to (formula rim is highly recommended)
I got a CSL DD 2 years ago ( never had any not in stock issues, probably a miracle) coming from a belt drive, direct drive is so much more responsive and detailed. Although I still think pedals are preferable to upgrade first if you do not have load cells yet (Stuffey does have load cells I know). My Heusinkveld sprints I bought last year made a bigger impact than going from belt drive (a good one like the clubsport that is) to direct drive.
Fantastic overtake around the outside. As much as it hurts me to say as a German, Silverstone is the best track for fast open wheelers in the world. Not a fan in GT cars or anything slower, but F2, SF, F1 etc is a blast, perfect mix of hotlapping fun and overtaking opportunities
@@stuffeyy Nürburgring and Hockenheim are some of my favorite tracks, Silverstone is just the pinnacle for open wheelers. Even F1 fails to have dull races there, that means a lot haha
I’ve got the r5, which is fine but now I’ve used it for a while I think the r9 would have been a bit better. R5 is still great though and you really can feel the difference from a belt or gear wheelbase. I’d recommend the formula wheel mod for the es wheel, it’s much lighter so you can feel way more of the feedback.
Hello Stuffeyy! What FFB settings should i use in my R5 for Iracing? I've been strugling a lot to find a good setting for Moza Pit and also inside Iracing, can you help me? 😅
Plenty of options now for mid range Direct Drives which is great. The Lewis picture is from a website called displate.com and the helmet of won as part of a sim racing racing event so not sure where you can get it from online
I currently use a thrustmaster t-150 and Fanatec CSL Elite pedals (non load cell) I've been considering the R5 bundle as my upgrade and I'm just wondering if the R5 provides anything superior to a wheel like mine besides the build quality... more feedback to your hands etc...
Amusing that fanatec used your video in one of their shorts and it didn't cross their mind to send you a wheelbase for free advertising 😂. Moza seem to be much more proactive - never tried their stuff but hear good things.
I do make.mention in the intro but I have a Fanatec ClubSport V2.5 wheel base. So belt driven, 8nm compared to the Moza R5 Direct Drive 5nm. Will ensure to compare when I do a dedicated review video

Should of said no and asked for R9 instead... 5nm is cool an all but its just not enough.

congrats on the MOZA partnership. I use their base and wheel myself, solid stuff.
Not a partnership yet but potentially. Looking forward to hopefully trying out some more their ecosystem.

Have to admit I’d find that difficult not seeing the wheel turn in game personally really helps when in game wheel is synced with driving wheel
Same I felt so flustrated😂

Thank you buddy! I agree 100%. I do love the Nurburgring tho personally. So you do have some great tracks

I'll get ya next time. Welcome to the direct drive club.
Just blame the cat 🐈
The overtake on Fernando for p5 blew my mind!
Glad you liked it

Yep I do already think I would like more torque but it is a noticeable difference in smoothness I have first noticed. I
Enjoy. DD wheel takes things to another level 😊
I'm intrigued to see how it performs
Hi, what settings did you use in the moza program? did you use the iracing preset?

How have you made your UI look so different? Cool video, thanks
I can confirm that Matt Swain is fuming at this. He spent 20 minutes with me going through your video on discord, agreeing with every word you said!
😂😂 don't blame him tbf
I'm after a DD wheel so this looks alright also lol wheres that Lewis Hamilton picture and that replica helmet from?

@@stuffeyy which mid range would you recommend then?
nice vid bro , any overheating on the R5 ? seen a lot of comments saying theirs overheats
I have had overheating issues but only when I had the limiter on. Its been OK since
dude my first race here this week everyone crashed at the start and i went from 25-4 it was so funny
Not a bad result

It's does however from first impressions I would advise going to the R9 if you can afford it. The 9nm will suit you better in the long run imo

In fairness they need to focus on supplying their paid customers with equipment first rather than provide me with anything. I'll happily wait.
I really want this bundle but I can’t find it in stock anywhere in the UK 😂
Oh really? I guess most are buying from alternative companies due to Fanatec issues
@@stuffeyy yeah I thought as much, I could go for the CSL DD bundle but I’m seeing a lot of people saying they’re having issues
Silverstone is the best circuit ever!
100%
The damage model need to change in iracing. The real life sf23 car is a lot stronger and doesn't break that easy.
That was fun to watch!
I find Silverstone sooooooo boring.
Thanks Dan & how can you not like Silverstone!! 😱
Doesn't the logitech g29 have like 3 NM ?
2.2nM i read
i just ordered an R5 to replace my R3 that i am giving to my cousin
What are you coming from? Comparison would be appreciated also dude. 👍

If you say nice things about the R5, maybe they'll send you the R12 with the Formula rim :D
I will unbiased and honest in my review 😉
Need to throw my G920 away 😂😂
G920 is great but thankfully there are several options to upgrade too now for a reasonable price.
Moza looks nice
VR for fuck sake
