Thanks. It deviated from the score quite often, but I was thinking, you know, “good enough for jazz.” 😸 Seriously, I figured there was another edition. The piano part stayed with the alto, so it had to be intentional.
Thanks for the heads up! I just started playing after a long break and while I was trying to play along I just kept thinking "damn, I know I'm rusty, but I can't be reading it this wrong" 😂
this takes me back to when i was 17 in my school practice rooms with my best friend on piano as we prepared to record these as our final pieces
I was expecting a sonate and suddenly it went like skity babada bumm pretty quickly
Funny how Phil's background as a jazz played influence his sound as a classical composer, amazing piece btw
Similar to Kapustin
Movements:
I 00:00
II 6:40
III 9:50
Fyi, the recording is of the new edition, but the score is the original 1980 publication
Thanks for the info! I was very confused.
Correct! There's quite a few tweaks to the latest edition

pretty...haunting...
So is this the jazz saxophonist Phil woods that wrote this?
I have the same exact question, man.
Yeah
yes
Here’s the Saxophonist’s video of his performance, same sound quality: ua-cam.com/video/gThSNCVkv4A/v-deo.html
Thank you!
Thanks! It's definitely got its flaws, but hopefully folks can find it enjoyable or useful :)
@@karstenwimbush7457 Still an incredible performance nonetheless!
Woooooow wonderful, beautiful Sonata and beautiful job!
🌸💙🌱😃
Who are the performers?
Classical + Chord changes ⁉️
Where do I get the score?
It's literally in the video..
Well if you want you can always transcribe the “score” to have a more legible one
@@samrangdale8971 Not exactly useful--clearly this question is about acquiring an actual printed score.
It is available in University Libraries in the US and for sale on several websites.
insane
classical to Jazz? wth
The intonation 🤮
Oh meow meow...
Its called jazz lmao
no such thing as out of tune or wrong notes in jazz. Its all just tension :)
all of the bends are clearly intentional.
Yeah, I had a tendency to over adjust middle and low D... as the performer I still cringe in spots!
Jazz phrasing and soloing done by a classical player sounds awful. But thanks for the upload
