This middle aged, native, Modoc, old school metal head, cried watching this. Glad someone gives a shit, and metal is showing some roots of it's political stance it originally made. Thank you guys.

Metal is one of the few genres that allow people to speak freely and get masses behind movements. It honestly makes me proud to be a metal head. Not all us while folk are against you. Many of us, including myself, stand with standing rock. The mistreatment of minorities by this countries government must end. It’s a slap in the face to us all.

Amen my indigenous brother, it's so sad to see how "progression" is doing this stuff to our sacred lands. I'm a proud aboriginal man of Australia and decedent of the ghungalu tribe in Queensland. Coal mining has a big impact on our lands (here) and still happens today. A lot of these kids today, like the thrash bands in the 80's, are products of the punk scene as much as the metal scene. And social and geopolitical concerns have been front and center in punk since the beginning. As for Black Sabbath, while they claim they hated the hippies, they were products of the same concerns and ideals. Antiwar, pro-environmentalism, anti-nuclear proliferation. They were the dark, cynical, apocalyptic shadow of hippiedom.

This song is badass. Fuck all of the people complaining or trying to devalidate this work.... Metal and rock has been using political practice as ammunition since it was created. Nothing wrong with making a song about something you disagree with. Thats the point of metal. Making a message out of subject matter others may not while not giving a fuck about what people have to say about it. Stand up for what you believe in and raise your voice to the ills you see in your world, regardless of the reception.

Fuck no, their music is amazing. Complaining about a band voicing their opinions through their music is so childish, grow the fuck up. Music is art, art reflects the times. Do you really expect all the bands you like to 100% agree with all of your own personal opinions?

The statement that this work of art makes is so valuable to this past week’s events in America... the founder of the No DAPL/Dakota Access Pipeline resistance movement, Ladonna Brave Bull Allard, passed away a few days ago. Her activism, her appreciation for Mother Earth, and her admirably fiery articulation in defense of our lands necessarily reminding us that we are extremely blessed to have been bestowed these gifts that surround us and sustain us - we must not let her fight die with her, and we must not ever forget. The Biden Administration has green lighted the continuation of the DAPL project, and they made this decision just a few days after Brave Bull had passed on (this honestly made my blood boil and upset me to a level of unsightly sorrows) so now this means we must struggle on once again, we must do our best to maintain grace under pressure, and we must unite to fight and preserve the livelihoods of our people. In history they call us “savages”, so today, in the face of this threat of evil, greed, & destruction, I say: we’ll demonstrate just how savage we can be. 😡🖕🏽#NoDAPL #SoilNotOil #StandingRock

In this world that we live in with so many protests and riots, my 17 yr old daughter asked me no one talks about the atrocities committed against Native Americans. It brought tears to my eyes because I was amazed that she even thought to ask this and recognize this, but also pained me because I had no answer. Shame on us that we don’t recognize this and spend eternity attempting to make amends in any way we can.

The only 2 arguments I have, FOR the pipeline
pipe crosses way lower down stream, saving from possible spill causing river blockage then causing river split or change flow, causing harm to everything around it, land slides, pockets in the ground (sand / lime) land slides ext. It just should follow the elevation in between 2 area peaks that lead to run off areas where flash floods or flatter land soaks or re enters the river, stopping the oil but hopefully allowing most of the water to absorb back into the ground ( floods zones / re direct areas ment to cary water in case ext.) That's my opinion bassed soully on the info given at 2:53*

Any other North Dakotans here? I was at the protest grounds for a few days, it was intense. The only bad thing about the protestors was the amount of garbage they left behind, which is toxic to the land. On a side note, why do we have reservations still? It's been 150 years. And the morale on a reservation (at least the ones around here) are very low and the suicide rate among the youth is ridiculously high. Incorporate the Native Americans into the rest of society, put an end to reservations

    • @thearchivist7824

Americans tried the "incorporate Native Americans into society" route and it turned into brainwashing. Ripping native children from their families and traditions to make them more 'Murican.

    • @RonnieJamesDio666

Paul James my mom lives a few miles from the pipeline. Her friend was a police officer on duty there. The protesters roll up in expensive ass vehicles that were paid for by the oil companies because they gave them money to build previous pipelines. The natives AGREED to. This time, they weren't going to pay them all that money. So everyone has a fit and blows things out of proportion. Selfish people.
