Easter Sunday Small Boat Style! Mutton Snapper, Wahoo, Permit! Catch Clean Cook

- In this episode we head fishing for Easter Sunday aboard our 25’ Shallow Sport X3 in Islamorada, Florida. The weather is beautiful and my friend Colin is in town with his wife. We start out catching pilchards for bait and then run just past the reef to fish. We do some wahoo trolling, bottom fishing for mutton snapper, and sight casting for permit. Everything goes as planned and we have a great day catching everything we targeted. Back at home we make a plate of wahoo sashimi and then blacken and fry some mutton snapper for dinner! Enjoy!

Watched a Ton of your vids, love to see the fish, but my wife and i really enjoy watching your little ones grow,we probably see more relative things with them because we have 7 grandkids, we are only both 63 but still love all our kid's. I hope you never take for granted the the wonderful life you and your family are living. I know you have worked hard to make it all happen and I know like everyone else that it's not all fun and games. You are truly blessed and I get a lot of enjoyment watching your fishing videos and have a trip with you on my bucket list!
Blessed for sure. Thanks for watching , glad you enjoy the videos
Agree. Excellent day groceries and an the permit for sport. That permit catch is a bragging rights and memory thingy 🐠. And I envy the fresh and healthy seafood. Absolutely delicious the fresher the
i love when you include the parts where amateurs try and catch big fish
🙌🏻
O ya forgot to say we both built boats for almost 40 years, we are tired and these ducks are done. No more building boats. Just FISH WHEN WE CAN!!!
Cool, the little I know about boat building is intriguing
Everything in this video is and was wonderful...!!!!!!!!
Thanks for watching
Its time for Jamaican mike to make his cooking appearance ❤❤

Claire munching the sashimi was awesome. I wish my youngest would be so adventurous with food. Great fishing trip!

Thanks Pam!
Great video!
Thanks for watching
Guess I'll slip on down to the seafood market for the catch of the day
GREAT VIDEO
Thanks
I am right handed and crank a left hand retrieve conventional reel. Puts the dominant hand on the rod pulling. Left hand just has to go around in a circle.
Yea Boy
Yeah booooiiiii!
@14:22 - 16:12 she sounds just like a 15 year old daughter crying about catching a fish that pulls to hard... They just want to give up and hand it off to someone else, NICK!! Brotha you did an amazing job keeping her head on right and making her finish the job she started..
Thanks for watching! She was worn out but did a good job
Oh, Wahoo!!! Dakotaaaaaa!!! 😁
Great video Stanzfam! Some wicked catching going on in this one. The cook on the blackened snapper looked good and having sashimi must’ve been so delicious.
The girls are growing up so fast. Claire certainly has a vast appetite for food at her age.
Thanks for sharing. God bless and Happy Easter!
Thanks! Was a great day and meal
Hi Stanz fam!!!
🙌🏻
I'm still fairly new to the conventional reels and I went for the right handed ones cause of everything being on that side and I'm glad I did being right handed
🙌🏻
So awesome brother love you and your family. Keep the videos coming my kids. Love you guys.
Thanks for the support!
Looks like a perfect place to stay to me!
🙌🏻
Yea that looked delicious Will, wow. Do you want to move to central Florida and be our live in chef ? Lol
It was a nice meal! Thanks for watching
I love your videos, great content, you have such an amazing family 🙌🏽
Thanks for watching
Definitely can tell Sassy Sara is Editing this one!
🙂
Happy Easter. Thanks Ricky 👩🏻🦼🎸🇺🇸🙏🐈⬛💦🎣💥
🙂🙌🏻
Thank you Nick for this nice vlog! In Canada-Quebec, we don't have the chance to fishing in the Ocean...
Thanks for watching
We prefer the left handed reels. Being used to running a spinning rod left handed just feels natural. But right handed conventional took some getting used to for me. Now either is fine. You can always send them left handed conventional reels my way...😊😊
🙂🙌🏻
Just a question why the shark rods😂
I own left and right conventionals but I prefer left retrieve to match my spinning gear. Switched my bass gear to left retrieve because swapping hands to cast is stupid with a baitcaster. I’m right handed so I like having my strong hand to work lures and better hooksets. You get used to cranking with either arm but I will never be as coordinated with my left arm as my right
🙌🏻
Sarah you need to go that Freeman and do some riding real switching out get the right rods on your boat LOL
🥳🥳
I skip straight to the filleting and cooking it’s the best
Thanks for watching!
I'm right handed. But with baitcaster, spinning and conventional. I prefer to reel lefty. Reeling righty doesn't feel right to me. I also don't use conventional much. Maybe once or twice a year. Don't get the opportunity much. Mostly fish inshore
👊🏻
But you can switch spinning reels to right-hand.
Yep, hard for me to wind on the right with a spinner
WHERE'S JAMAICAN MIKE CAPTAIN NICK?
He’s been in town working, hoping to shoot another episode together soon
Hook me an Dakota up with a fishing trip :) hahah
Please check all turtles for cobia......😃😛
🐢
🤙🏽🤙🏽
No 1 view
🙌🏻
I always reeled on the right until I read somewhere to use dominant hand to lift the rod and non dominant to reel. I switched to left hand reel and didn’t think it was all that weird. Admittedly I probably have fished 1/10,000th the time you have so muscle memory probably wasn’t as bad to forget either.
It is strange when you’re used to a reel on a certain size. On spinners we use them on the left and our dominant hand is on the right to lift the rod, but on conventionals we are used to the handles on the right. Probably muscle memory like you said
Looks very similar to the pompano that I bought in Jacksonville today, but permit is a lot bigger than a pomp.
For sure
Dude ur algorithm is all screwed up, I haven't seen one of ur videos pop up in months and I been sub'd since like 10k
I hate to hear that. Hope you enjoyed this video and hopefully we can get the channel going a little stronger again soon!
Question, were those two fish pompous that you threw back? Are they out of season?
Permit, they are out of season but we don’t keep them either way
Well done! How are you liking the new Authority reels?!? Are they lighter weight than the Slammers?
They are super nice! My favorite spinner for sure. Not sure if they are lighter but great drags and smooth reels
Too bad you're having such a hard time with those Penn reels. Maybe you should send them to me so you don't have to deal with them. 🙃
haha! They are a little awkward being on the left side but we'll give them a little while longer
@@StanzFam well when you give up. 😂
Why did you throw permit back they taste yucky?
Flat ocean.
Beautiful day
How much do those permit weigh on average?
10-20 lbs is average
I thought big perm was a hood icon...
Try hand cranking a sword, get standup gear bent butt rods
We’ve hand cranked over 1000 swords, just did most of them before we made UA-cam videos. Have some old videos with them, mostly in a fighting chair, and occasionally stand up if clients wanted to do it that way
What's up with Jamaican Mike
We’re gonna shoot another video soon
Try making new videos for 2024 your members pay money to members they don't want to watch videos that were made 4 years ago over and over again please make 🙏 new up to date videos thank you 😊
I don’t have a membership platform yet. There’s no charge to watch the videos on UA-cam. We are making some new ones just not as many videos as we used to make.
Hey leave us left hand fishers alone
That girl with y’all is pathetic. Leave her at the dock next time 😂
