I like the idea of rugs matching the floor. I also liked the idea of matching color of sofa to walls. Plus keeping sofa off the wall. Love your tips. Thank you. Jane of Ritzy Glitzy Wreaths.
So many good ideas! So useful! Before watching this, today I took the sheer curtains down from the front “sitting room” windows. Friends love it and I’m amazed at how the light transforms the room.
Great advice once again. I thank you so much. I already took your advice prior and I picked up, the two large mirrors for the bedroom, the black nightstands, but I ordered two white marble lamps with black shades from CB2. And, I did a black low profile headboard. Along with oversized wall art and black picture light. Chef's kiss! It made the space feel much larger. I look forward to yet another great video V! 👍🏽
I love your contagious smile 😂I’ve learned a lot from you throughout the years. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and knowledge. You have inspired me to explore more options.❤
I love watching you V, and have learned so much sitting here in my small odd- shaped apartment with limited wall space! 🤣😂🤣Balcony doors, inside doors and the big old school radiators make it difficult for furniture placement. 🤭🙃🙄 During the many years I've been following you, I have focused on one new project a year, so far, I've gotten rid of two huge couches ( from the 80's!) for one smaller couch and an arm-chair. Decluttered, purged, switched out my one wall unit (again, from the 80's) and got a Kallax system with baskets, also switched curtains and two rugs from heavy/dark to light and bright. My walls have been bare for many years, so that's this year's project. The mirror hunt begins! Thank you for your fun and inspiring videos! They always make me happy. Your smile and laugh are contagious! Hugs from Greece! :) 😍
I love these types of videos! ❤ Can you do video on impractical furniture and layouts? Anytime I see a long bench at a dining table I remember that for one person to get out, everyone has to get up, they have to collectively lift the the bench, shuffle and do the same to get back in. I’d still love to see a video on choosing photographic artwork that looks luxurious and classy. Can’t wait to see the laundry makeover video.
Very useful info considering I have such a small house. I will paint first and refer back to your recent "Mocha Mousse/Color of the Year" video. Those colors will warm up my space. ❤
Valentina, I like where you placed the tree behind you. Where or what did you do with your small fluted bar/console that you had a couple of Christmases ago next to the chimney? I miss that piece; it was lovely.
Love love love all of the ideas. I have done all of them and it makes such a difference. I do have a question what is the inches you have left between your tv and sideboard like in your sun room and in your bedroom . I need to move mine up in my living room. Thanks so much Ms Valentina
Love you videos!! I've been watching for years now. Just thought I'd share, I love your intro in this video, but it's a bit long, hoping it doesn't deter people to click off! I'd limit it to max 30 seconds. Going to watch the rest of the video now :) Thanks for the tips, I've used them in my home too!!
I have a corner fireplace without a raised hearth, there is no rug size that I can get that doesn’t overlap the hearth, and still have the furniture legs on the rug. What to do???
Question. Very small master bedroom. Planning stages. Getting low profile metal bed and new bed side table, curtains bedding rug and paint. I’m thinking dark and moody or creams warm beige colors. No room for dressers. Two windows. Room is 12’-10’. I love my 900sq foot bungalow house but it’s hard to decorate at times. Love your advice!!!!!! Thanks again.
??? If you color drench in a lighter color and use eggshell finish, do you recommend using the exact paint for the baseboards and doors and ceiling ALSO in eggshell finish?
I love mirrors, but I’m afraid of having too many reflections bouncing around the room, causing a feeling of busyness or chaos. Any tips on mirror use?
My cats destroyed my blinds so i took them off.. no blinds no curtains i love it. I live in the nack house with a tall fence . Only my son complains about too much light but I love it 😁
@Kittyheavenwith21cats I lot less dust and fur to clean up. I live in a mid century highrise overlooking the woods with no neighbors behind me. I took off the sheers... which were open all the time anyway...because of my cat!
I have a very large house with large rooms.my problem is finding pieces that don’t look like doll house furniture in the space. I’ve had to have some custom made. Do you have any tips on how to use lighting to make big spaces cozier?
Do you have any tips for (light) drapery in a bay window, on a budget? I don't necessarily want the drapes to actually cover the windows -- I have blinds -- but perhaps hanging just between the windows, covering the wood frames.
I love this video!! I do have a question. I would like to paint my fireplace out black like yours. However, my ceiling is only 9 feet tall and the fireplace is on an angle. If my fireplace came out from the wall, like yours, I would not hesitate. This feature of the angles makes me think it would look awkward. I do have a lot of windows, but they don’t go up as high so I don’t have as much light. How do you decide if the black would be too much without as much natural light as you have and the awkward position of the fireplace? I just wonder how this would affect this smaller living space by adding the black. Any thoughts or things I should consider would be so much appreciated! Love your channel!❤
Loved this video V, came just at the right time, we’re looking for a new couch and rug for our living room, which is not a big room, mainly because it has a window seat in the bay window, which takes up space but it’s useful for storage. Do you think in one of your videos you could give the measurements of the rooms in your home, I know you’ve said in the past that that room is not that big But what do you call Not That Big compared to what I would call Not That Big, I think it would be helpful to others as well when trying to figure out furniture placement when you have such a Beautiful home that looks Huge. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. Cheers from Queensland Australia 🩶🖤🤍💙
Hi V, where exactly should a rug finish in conjunction to your walls? My problem is that my sofa is next to the door to the room so if I sized up on the rug and followed the rule of putting the front sofa feet on the rug then I wouldn’t be able to open the door as it would catch on the rug and I can’t cut the bottom of the door as there’d be a massive gap and a draught coming in!! I can’t sit on a sofa that only comes half way up my back, really uncomfortable in my opinion 🙈. Thanks for talking about all these tricky topics x
I actually have the opposite challenge. I have a relatively large house with large rooms and find it difficult to find the right scale of furniture and accessories. Most things look too small in my home and I feel like I need more “stuff” to fill in all the space but then it starts looking cluttered and still off scale😬
❤Yes. Thank you for sharing bc many folks think they want a huge house with 16+ ft ceilings and then they realize how hard it is to design. Unless one lives in the SE SW or SO-CAL they should avoid getting higher than a 10 ft ceiling. Don't get started on the cost of drapery!😱
Consider: Paint that ceiling darker...drape those window walls (helps with echo echo echo too), shop at RH and ARHAUS and their outlets...they're notorious for large-scale peices.
do you come answer viewers here? I would love to know if you have one or 2 peices of fluted furniture is it timeless ( dno't want trendy but I like it) 2 - that uplight you put by your plant can you explain exactly where you placed it and how you did it so you can't see it? I can't tell from the view. PLEase I would love answers

I agree I like bigger accessories instead of a bunch of small accessories

Thanks for another great video.
This was soooooooo helpful Valentina. Thank u. Great tips!
Thx V!! Blessings!!
Loved this, really appreciate the specific advice on how we can accomplish this. Love this type of video. :)

Always great advice!!❤

Can you make a video of mistakes of room decorations in pictures? As an example, pull up a picture and tell us what’s good and what’s bad.
Can you pretty please do a video with all your paint colors ?
We did one last year but maybe it’s time for a refresh.
I have a corner fireplace without a raised hearth, there is no rug size that I can get that doesn’t overlap the hearth, and still have the furniture legs on the rug. What to do???
If you saw my living room There is no way my furniture can’t touch the wall

@BarbB313 exactly 💯. I'm glad I'm not alone in this
Has anyone ever told you that you look like Lilith from Cheers?
I have a very large house with large rooms.my problem is finding pieces that don’t look like doll house furniture in the space. I’ve had to have some custom made. Do you have any tips on how to use lighting to make big spaces cozier?

The most important question you raised was “why do we want every room to look larger?” Why indeed….
Because nobody likes to feel cramped…
Do you have any tips for (light) drapery in a bay window, on a budget? I don't necessarily want the drapes to actually cover the windows -- I have blinds -- but perhaps hanging just between the windows, covering the wood frames.

The country house great room was often painted red or had red wallpaper. It warmed the room, countered the gray green light and made it cozier.
I also have very large spaces too and I find it hard to fill.
Art work that is meant to be viewed should be at eye level
What color of paint did u use
Where did you find this 😭 5:29

We like our head to rest on the back of the couch. I don’t like the low profile for comfort.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🏆💛
It would be lovely to your design in some of your clients homes instead of continually shifting things in your own home.
We definitely love showing client projects but they can move more slowly and a lot of clients want to maintain privacy.
I hate low profile furniture!! I hate feeling like I’m sitting 🪑 in kiddie furniture…
Before and after in your sons room
I love you and your videos but the intro is too long :(😢
