- Join me in this video to learn more about the DytSpectrumOwl CA-10 PCB inspection thermal camera which in my opinion is a game changer when it comes to PCB thermal inspection. That 25hz refresh rate, 260*200px resolution and the manual focus adjustment makes it the perfect tool for the job but there is more and it’s all reviewed in the video.

I wish Flir would offer a similar software experience and make their USB Type-C Flir One Pro compatible with Windows PCs.
Hi, thank you for posting this, can you tell me where can I find the manual in pdf?
Thank you for producing and uploading his informative video. What 's your take on this unit versus the Seek Compact Pro with Macro Lens?
I do not have a Seek Compact Pro but I imagine that if you cannot afford something like the Spectrum Owl the Seek is better than nothing. You would still be missing the software side of things though..
FLIR is a quality brand. Thanks for the reminder.
No doubt about that but it doesn't mean we can't have good alternatives.
Where can one purchase the 'experiment box'?
Thanks 👍
Qual o software onde encontrar
this thing is nice but at that price its even more expensive than the qian li supercam which is also featured towards the pcb repair community
What is the real Resolution ? And temperature Resolution ? 0.1K ?
I think Chinese mfg do have too high price how.
Technical specs of the camera are available on the manufacturer website linked in the description of the video.
arhh come on, it aint really apples to apples.
The Flir you are using as 1 to 1 compare factor is a way different microbolometer camera.
I get it, you wanna sell it, as you been lubricated with one of these from China, but pls don't paint it on to thick with a bias narrative. 10:22 (this ain't apples to apples)
One is a brand name, aka one of the biggest players in the field. ..the other is more or less a no-name vendor from China.
And not to mention The FLIR got +60% more pixels 77.000 versus 49.000 (as I reckon this is a 192x256 microbolometer that is packed in this Dyt-fellow and the 260x200 spec.. perhaps marketing gimmick to get a small advantage from all the 256x192 products...?? and that higher pixels 77k vs 49k matters a lot.
I would never purchase Flir myself at retail prices, but that doesn't mean you don't need to keep it level, Chinese advertising or not.
You could compare it to a cheap 320x240 or above (dongle) that anybody can put on a stand to a mobile or a tablet..
and get a decent thermal overview that also outperforms this DytOwl unit.
or you can just take one of these dongles with manual focus and handhold in front of your board, and you get better footage and thermal view, simply from the higher resolution. ua-cam.com/video/JYPqOCgHKAA/v-deo.html
The one thing that looks somewhat decent on this Dyt-unit and could be handy for some, is the software (no doubt) and perhaps the build, while the most critical thing "resolution" leaves some to be desired.
at these prices.. it should be 320x240 or perhaps 384x288 core.
Thx for the video, but a shame you don't dig down into the vital things.. what sensor-core are in this unit??, as it goes without saying not many are making microbolometer sensors..
That is what people are paying for, and since you're doing these adverting gigs from CN.. you could at least ask what microbolometer core/sensor are DytOwl sourcing in this unit..?? what 256x192 (200x260) core are they using?. who makes it?? is it a Seek core, or an Infiray, or Flir core?
Could also have been nice if you tested, how the temperature accuracy stacks up..
From what I gather the thermal resolution of the camera reviewed (not to be confused with camera resolution) is 200 x 260 or 52,000 DPI as otherwise known.
Can you five it for free
Its so expensive here in the philippines
It looks like nice hardware, but it's about as useful as a doorstop without open source Linux software.
Open source firmware too?
Thanks. Your video answered my questions. Plz Review this camera vs Ht-301 or InfiRay T3PRO for PCB inspection.
As a hobbyist...I purchased a used Flir E4 for $300 (pre-covid). Perform the E8 upgrade hack for 320*240 resolution. Added a Znse crystal lens, with a 3D printed holder. My PCB inspection resolution is incredible! A $3K solution for $350. Covid has increased the used handheld infrared camera market. Hopefully we will see the prices drop back down to the $300 range again soon. This desktop version with macro is pretty cool though. Not digging the windows PC requirement though. It's nice to just quickly grab a handheld unit, power it on, and inspect. But I can see the advantage of a desktop windows PC type, for professionals or someone who inspects a lot or long-term. Thanks for the review!
Taken from the FLIR website: -
"The FLIR E4 thermal imaging camera is an easy-to-use troubleshooting tools for building, electrical, and mechanical applications. Find hidden problems, take accurate temperature readings, and confirm repairs were done correctly with the help of the 4,800 (80 x 60) pixel infrared resolution and FLIR Multi-Spectral Dynamic Imaging (MSX®) enhancements."
Flir is 80 x 80 or 4,800 DPI
vs this one at 200 x 260 or 52,000 DPI.
No thanks to 4,800 DPI 😂
@@pow9606 You must have missed what I posted. The E4, E5, E6 and E8 all come with a 320 x 240 IR sensor. The models are software limited. My E4 was limited to 80 x 60. I changed the software and my $300 E4 IR resolution is now 320 x 240 pixels, or 76,800 dpi.
@@cognetic The website lists it at over £1000 (inc VAT).
Hacking the software and finding ways to avoid paying Flir is too dishonest for me.
Over $600 USD... I don't think so.
Where can I find software for this camera ?
From the place you purchased your unit. They will send you a download link.
Your link to the window's application takes me to the product webpage, but there are no links to the application download anywhere on that page.
What about emissivity? How is that handled?
@7:47
Sorry, i was listening more than detail watching. Thanks!
looks very nice
Chinese software. And unsigned. Hmm..
Can you tell me about your experience installing the software?
There seems to be a number of very similar cameras such as the Qianli Supercam X
From non English videos I have watched of other similar devices there seems to be some registration login process during installation.
This software looks almost identical to the other product's software. Maybe they share the same software?
The software makes this device extremely enticing.
Any more info regarding the software would be much appreciated.
Great review 🖖
I installed the software a year ago, I don't remember all the details but I don't remember any registration process. The software just works, been using it ever since, no issues so far. I don't know if it's compatible with the other cameras or not. I would not take that risk..
Just a rebraned YOUKILOON along with others selling under different name
You are probably right, but how do we know which is the original? And does it really matter? For me as a customer I'll probably buy from the company that provides the best support.
Can you help me install the device driver, but it does not connect to the computer, I am using Windows 11
Have you got a solution about this? I got stuck at driver problem 😢, could you help me with that?
That's a nice product and fine review. I wish I could afford one but for a hobby is too much cash.
It is because Amazon will charge the seller 15% sales volume, if you direct contact me, the price will not so high...
Great review! that being said i use a seek compact pro for all my PCB inspection/repairs and it has slightly higher resolution at a lower price. That stand is pretty handy though
How's the camera going ? Still worth it ?
It's the best for PCB inspection.
It's this the same one as the quianli?
it does seem very similar in both hw and sw.
More than "reasonable" price... It's only really expensive if you're broke (there may be a pun in there, not sure). Thanks so much. I would love to get me one of these Owls and I do give a hoot. Cheers from the USA, 3rd House On the Right.
