As a child of the 80s… it was the best , better then the 90s and what we have now 2000s…80s was like a spring Saturday afternoon and you open up the windows in house to get fresh air & you went to toys “R” Us .
The 80's had some fantastic movies and shows. Although, I do love 90's country quite a bit. Lol
Also the 90's had some incredibly movies too. I love the 90's and early 2000's but that when I grew up.
@@tomcattvreacts i understand brother but growing through both 80s had something special maybe the the Coca Cola lol 😂,take care brothers.
Eddie's partner in Detroit is played by Paul Reiser, who played the corporate a-hole in Aliens as well as a role in one of the 90's sitcoms "Mad about you" with Helen Hunt.
Yeah, I don't know why I forgot his name. I've also never seen Alien or Aliens
I was 10 in 1984. And movies at that time for a 10 year old was awesome! Ghostbusters, Revenge of the Nerds, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, The Karate Kid, Cannonball Run 2, The Woman in Red, hell even Romancing the Stone was a great movie. You missed out, kid 😂
I've seen Ghostbusters, Temple of Doom, The Karate Kid, and Romancing The Stone
Actually Murphy did do his own stunts in his early career and yes that is him swinging from that chain. He tried it for the reboot and got injured apparently same goes for Harrison Ford. Back then alot of actors demanded they did their own stunts.
That's awesome, I think Tom Cruise is kinda nuts but at least he understands the value of that kind of devotion
@@tomcattvreacts gotta love it when actors put even their bodies on the line to make the movies as real as possible.
@@ReymundoCortez 💯
One thing i miss from old movies are the car crashes. Its feels so real you can see and hear the metal. Not like today its all plastic to plastic
Each sequence feels sooo intense. The Crashes feel so gritty and real
Those fancy papers like Mikey stole are called bearer bonds, meaning that whoever is holding them is the owner, and they’re used as money/investments. No signatures, no identifying information about who they might belong to.
Fyi the presidential suites now go for over $10,000 a night so you can get more of a feel for how expensive it is. Hearing over $200 dollars a night nowadays is nothing but back then it was alot for a room.
So 1/4 of what I make in a year. lol
The name of the theme song is Axel F
So it's actually the Axel Foley Theme
"Before I go, I just want you two to know something, alright? The supercop story... was working. Okay? It was working, and you guys just messed it up. Okay? I'm trying to figure you guys out, but I haven't yet. But it's cool. You fuck up a perfectly good lie."
Fun Fact: Eddie Murphy, John Ashton, and Judge Reinhold improvised most of their comic lines. Literally hundreds of takes were ruined by cast members, actors, or the director laughing during shooting. During the "super-cops" monologue, Ashton is pinching his face hard and looking down in apparent frustration. He is actually laughing. Reinhold put his hand in his pocket and pinched his thigh really hard, trying to prevent himself from laughing.
Projection Headline Fact: During his tirade at the Beverly Palms Hotel, Axel (Eddie Murphy) pretends to be writing an article called "Michael Jackson: Sitting On Top Of The World" for Rolling Stone magazine. In real life, Playboy ran an Eddie Murphy article with the same "Sitting On Top Of The World" subtitle.
Double Assault Fact: The mansion used in the final shootout between Axel (Eddie Murphy) and Maitland (Steven Berkoff), the former Harold Lloyd estate in Beverly Hills, is the same mansion seen in the final shootout between Matrix and Arius in Commando (1985). Coincidentally, both heroes were trying to rescue somebody named Jenny in that mansion in their respective films.
No Wonder its so funny! Eddie Murphy is fantastic and Judge plays his character so well.
Also I've never seen "Commando" but that's a cool fun fact
The guys in that he black and red leather were wearing Michael Jackson Thriller era outfits.
That's what I was thinking, doesn't change that they are wearing what looks like costumes to me. Like Smallville Hero costumes
1. GOOF: An entire truck loaded with EMPTY cigarette boxes.🙄
2. IMVHO Eddies' best movies are "Trading Places" and "Coming to America"😎😎
3. Serge/Bronson Pinchot was in a short lived series "Perfect Strangers".
4. Jenny/Lisa Elbacher played Segar in "An Officer and a Gentleman" HINT HINT
5. Judge Reinhold in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High".
6. Maitland is one of the best bad guys ever!😁 He also played the Soviet Colonel in Rambo II.
7. "Beverly Hills Cop II" doesn't suck, but it's not as good as this.
Bruh, lots of info. I appreciate the comment and the view. I'm becoming a massive fan of Eddie at this point.
You Saying I should watch An Officer and a Gentleman?
I'm excited to watch the next BHC
Hang on everyone has talents in life and I proceastinate like a world champion.
lol
If the 80s was an accident, it was a Bob Ross-style happy little accident. My favorite era of Americana.
By the way, lol. Those leather outfits that no good person would ever wear? They belonged to Eddie Murphy.
🤣 I forgot about that when i watched this. Also I hope you know that I was being Hyperbolic.
But his character thought they were ridiculous and so do I.
Great movie though, lots of fun!
@@tomcattvreacts
Oh I know. I just wanted to point out that your hyperbole made me laugh for that very reason.
@@robertlombardo8437 Glad to hear it.
I even started seeing reels of his stand up after watching this movie and I saw he was wearing those clothes. It didn't click in my brain until someone told me. lol
eddie murphy is awesome. he can do comedy to suit any audience
Amen, I've been so shocked at how much I enjoy it!
you know that when he laughs at those peoples' outfits, those are the same type of outfits HE used to wear in his comedy specials, such as DELIRIOUS, right?
Doesn't mean it's not still silly. It's actually funnier to me knowing he laughed at them for what they're wearing
For more subs, do Alien 1 & 2, Terminator 1 & 2, Shawshank Redemption, Die Hard, 12 Angry Men.
Already seen the Terminator movies as well as Die Hard. But I'll definitely be doing all of them
You’re right the soundtrack is incredible! This movie always makes me laugh 😊
I love it, it's sooo fun
The man who played that tough Detroit police inspector who was Foley's boss, was a tough Detroit police inspector. He wanted the world to know that in his real-life work, he seldom yelled and seldom swore.
Really? That's really cool!
denying would do no good with the girl being the kidnapee. since they are illegally armed with automatic weapons, jury will find for prosecution against Maitland and crew
No it’s Alex Foley’s theme…the song is actually called Axel F
👍🏼
Murphy's Finest... 48 Hrs.1 48Hrs.2, Bev. Hills Cop 1 and 2. The Golden Child, Trading Places, Harlem Nights Coming to America
I think I'll be watching 48 hrs 1 and 2 at some point. Loved Trading Places, Coming to America and Beverly Hills Cop 1 and 2. Eddie Murphy is a king!
He became famous on Saturday Night Live. His skits were hilarious.
Ikr, what's the one that circulated recently. MR ROGERS Neighborhood parody
You can thank the talented Pointer Sisters for the " Neutron Dance" during the truck/chase scene! I know "Neutron Dance" unusual name for a song. But no stranger than album "Plastic Letters" released by the group Blondie in 1977.
Lol, they were incredible.. made that scene so GREAT!
@@tomcattvreacts IKR! and BTW I think the Mythbusters tried the Banana in the tailpipe trick but I don't know the results but a couple youtubers tried it and the banana was soundly ejected by the pressure.
@@rccraig7580 that's what I thought. It's fun for the movie but didn't seem realistic. Lol
at least you knew what coffee grounds are used for-kudos you get a gold star form Gen X. BTW it works. I had an 8-ball in the middle of a 5 pound tin of coffee and the K-9 unit never smelled it.
Thanks and 😯
Said I didn't enjoy your reactions in last response but thank you for enjoying Beverly Hills Cop (1984)
Thanks Again! I loved it! I still need to watch the third one but the original is still my favorite.
Also the next reaction is "The Usual Suspects" and I'm editing "A Few Good Men" right now.
Don't know if you like either of them
@@tomcattvreacts Thanks Tom, definitely watching, "A Few Good Men," enjoy intellectual movies, such as, "Good Will Hunting," (written by geniuses, Matt Damon & Ben Affleck, "Dead Poets Society," which is another powerful movie starring, Robin Williams.
@@XRP2020 sounds good!👍🏼
BEVERLY HILLS COP 2 will make you laugh just as much if not harder
I did really enjoy it. Did you watch part 2's reaction yet?
yeah, see our generation was so cool and we ruled so much that everything gets copied by younger generations. /Just reinforces our superiority. lol
So true 😂
"The eighties was a mistake" ...... wtf??!!
I've said worse, not much worse, but definitely worse
Eddie Murphy was just on fire at this time period. Easy to see why he was a superstar.
Absolutely, he really surprised me
Victor Maitland was played by English actor and playwright Stephen Berkoff. He was also in 3 other 80s action films...Stallone's Rambo II: First Blood (85), the Roger Moore Bond film, Octopussy (83) and Outland (81), that stars Sean Connery, basically a High Noon in space...all great movies to react to.
I need to watch Outlander but I already watched the first 2 Rambo movies. Never scene Octopussy
@tomcattvreacts Outland is part of the unofficial sci-fi trilogy directed by Peter Hyams that includes Capricorn One and 2010, kinda like Paul Verhoeven's similar trilogy of Robocop, Total Recall and Starship Troopers. You should check them out. Haven't looked thru your whole list of reactions...didn't realize you watched the Rambos and the James Bond franchise is the greatest action franchise of all time...IMHO.
Axel F" is an electronic instrumental by German musician Harold Faltermeyer. It served as the theme for the 1984 film Beverly Hills Cop, starring Eddie Murphy, and became an international number one hit in 1985. The track reached number one in Ireland as well as on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart. Additionally, it was a number two hit in Belgium, Canada, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the UK, and West Germany. From the Wikipedia page.
It was stuck in my head for a good month and a half, lol
@@tomcattvreacts It is quite catchy!
The 80s was the best
It was pretty but I was born in the 90s
The banana in the tail pipe is a genuine way to stall the engine. When you block it, the exhaust fumes has no place to go, so they go back to the engine and what is not coming back is oxygen. Those tiny explosion in the engine require oxygen and really don't want the fumes coming back, so the engine fails.
I'm glad you commented cuz I really wasn't sure
@@tomcattvreacts Steven Berkoff's name sounds familiar because that actor has been in a lot of projects over the years including being a Bond villain in Octopussy and a high priced attorney in the American adaptation to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo just to list a few off the top of my head, by the way both movies are worth checking out but I'll leave it to the reactor's discretion.
😁👍🏼
Good reaction mate.
Love the fact that you associate a tune that was made for this movie with Monsters vs Aliens.
Lol, I know right. Kinda Cringe😬😂
@@tomcattvreacts no it's just kinda funny. Please watch Beverly Hills Cop 2.
It's a great sequel.
@@GodlessScummer I did! And I really enjoyed it. In the middle of editing now.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Eddie Murphy laugh 😅😅😅 never gets old
IKR, it's so natural. Makes him seem so genuine
The banana in the tailpipe thing is total BS, I've seen someone try that and it just blew the bananas right out of the pipe as soon as the car started....
That's what I thought too, maybe on some lower powered engines?
Gold star #2 about doing nothing wrong at the restaurant. kudos
Lol, thank you
My favourite Eddie Murphy movie. Besides BHC2, recommend 48 Hours and it's sequel too the latter two are a bit grittier but still got some humour.
I'm almost done editing BHC2 and I believe I'll be watching 3 next month. I'm excited to get to 48 hours eventually. It'll be fun!
I'll look forward to your reactions.
All 3? 👀
Yes Sir!!! This was requested by my Patron and he said he wants to do them all.😁
@@tomcattvreacts oh that's fantastic 😍!
btw what did he say about Police Academy 4 😂?
@@joesmith8600 I think we forgot about it. I might honestly just watch it. I just have to find time and the best way to still grow my channel.
@@tomcattvreacts 👍
it backs up exhaust-no escape
don't be so judgy about fashion and art, man. people have been calling unusual art "stupid" forever, and guess what? it often becomes the mainstream and then everyone has it. and then it happens again and again and again. such is life.
That's actually not true, no offense and I appreciate you watching but there is a very big difference between sculptures by Michelangelo and the modern art era. There's objectively good art, objectively bad art and there is subjective art. Subjective Art is like Jackson Pollock. A toilet sitting in the middle of the room is not real art. Mannequins sitting in the middle of the room is not art.
It's called garbage...
no offense.
As I was typing this my buddy said it's a hot take but, I'm sticking to it.😆
