Creating realstic flag fabric waves in Adobe illustrator CC Tutorial

I like your technique with the "Mesh" tool in illustrator and the blending, the only thing that I can nitpick is the color block don't follow the natural flow of the fabric, just a thought

You can try this also, After you finish from the colors ,then make your mesh fabric and then add the mesh fabric to it.

It should be bend with flag, in this case the waves, but i didn't try that, perhaps in Photoshop can apply better!

When you apply it to the flag, try to overlay or multiply it! If that doesn't work then try to make grey area a bit darker .
