Thanks Mike. I am using the Col Collective as my inspiration to drop my weight. I have dropped from 209 pounds (94 kg) to 198 pounds (89 kg) in a little over two months. My goal is 190 lbs (86 kg) by New Years for my daughters wedding. I know I'll never get to whippet-like proportions, but I want to ultimately get to 185 pounds (83 kg) and see where my cycling goes from there. I can't wait for the videos from the US!
+LeRoy Yoder Yeah - I am hoping that wathching the col collective's videos will keep my diet focussed .. I am an overweight woman and have already done this climb, but being thinner would make it easier to go back and do some more ... lovely filming really does inspire
Nailed it.....AGAIN,!!!!!Lots of memories kayaking down the (middle) Guil, now all I want to do is cycle back up it! How times change!!!There are lots of smaller alpine roads/cols that I know, but are not that famous, yet bloomin' steep/hard to climb.I just look forward to where you go next...so many options.....Massively inspirational and I LOVE how well your videos are produced.Second to none.A very good advert for Col Collective and Media-24.Thanks Mike (Mr Cotty 😉)
Thank you so much for your appreciation. We've just returned from our final shoot of the season, oh we have some absolute treats in store! So excited to bring it to life, just need to finish the final videos from last year now! Stay tuned, lots of new climbs and regions coming soon. M
I did the climb as part of the Etape du tour 2017. The last 2km is abit of a grind especially in 40'c heat, but when you get over the line it is pure elation. I have to say the scenery is absolutely stunning. As mike said, the panoramics have to be seen and that's why I love cycling. The ride from Guillestre is sensational, i plan to ride this again with the col'de vars soon.
Absolutely stunning! I am so hoping to get back to France this year for the Tour and ride this col and others. These Col Collective video gets me inspired every time I watch them.
I don´t know how many times I saw the video. This place, this music, truly spectacular! The best video ever from you. What the name of this music? The piano?
Love your videos Mike, especially the french cols (since I am french). Feeling I am there little bit through you. I am 58 and living in the german black forest. We have great climbs there too. My goal this year is to train more regularly and eventually visit one of these cols in France. Keep up the good work!
Loved every bit of the video, can't help but have the playlist of all videos on a loop to inspire myself, just did a 300 km ride yesterday with 3400 mts of elevation... well the videos did help me a lot :) .... But damn the stand and ride club is hard to get into Mike... Kudos to brilliant effort, time after time again and the inspiration.
We're finishing up filming for season two then it'll be all eyes on the new edits. I'd love to get them out each week (that's a goal) just tricky to manage with our other commitments at the mo. Fear not, we have a lot of videos coming so hang in there!
Very nice video and channel !! Just climbed the Izoard last week, what a beast it is. Did you say « stop at arvieux to replenish » ?? You never stop when climbing a col bro !! ;)
@Ben Snodgrass Hi Ben, we're certainly hoping to add some climbs from the UK to our library. Have to be considerate towards our (limited) budget at the mo but it's definitely on the list. Cheers, Mike
great video mike, I love these videos, really good and informative. Do you think that you could do some of the British climbs as well though? I really like a good climb, and if it's in Britain, it just makes it extra-special for me as they're not very common.
Climbs are very common in the UK. You just have to be in the right areas. The surrey and kent hills, as well as many of the national parks are amongst many places you can find good hills
+Average Life Joe Hi Joe, I've always felt comfortable climbing out of the saddle so I do spend a lot of time climbing like that (although I definitely don't ride the whole climb out of the saddle, leg's aren't strong enough!) I prefer to use a smaller gear so 34x25 or 28 suits my cadence and the terrain. Yellow socks and shoes......come on join the club! ;-)
Definitely possible to do both sides in a day. I'd start in Briancon (north) where there are plenty of hotels in the town. Refuel at the summit then descend to the junction where the D902 meets the D947 (approx 14km). Flip a u-turn and head for home. Good luck and enjoy!!
+userbeverage Thanks for the input, always appreciated. I check the audio levels on as many devices as I can prior to posting (desktop, laptop, iPad and phone) and also with and without headphones. It'd be really great to know what hardware you're using to view the video on (and if there's a particular section of the video that you can't hear the narration on) so I can check this out. Thanks for watching. Ride safe, Mike

Mike Cotty I don't drive. I will be staying in Annecy for like a month. Is there a bus I can put my bike on and go to the bottom of the mountain?
Climbed this last summer with my Girlfriend. Great memories. How lucky we are to live in France.
Thanks for these inspiring and emotionnal videos.

Mike, are you sometimes on the saddle ?! Very nice Col ! On my list for next summer !
I think the last time I was on the saddle was on my way to the shop to pick up bread and jam, hee-hee ;-) Enjoy the Izoard next summer!!
Such a remarkable how is so
low your heart rate.You are
really Limb specialist.
2 questions: Do you always ride climbs out of the saddle, why 11-28 cassette on climbs, also noted yellow socks on yellow shoes is cool
Yellow socks and shoes......come on join the club! ;-)
What is on the far side and could I climb up and down and back up again in a day? Are there any hotels or refuge at the top?
Definitely possible to do both sides in a day. I'd start in Briancon (north) where there are plenty of hotels in the town. Refuel at the summit then descend to the junction where the D902 meets the D947 (approx 14km). Flip a u-turn and head for home. Good luck and enjoy!!
How long take you for this col ? I will do it in 2 days !
L'ho fatta 2 volte.Durissimo il lungo falsopiano fino ad Arvieux.Poi ......l'Izoard.
Dommage que a ne soit pas traduit en français.. J ai compris quelque phrase mais pas tout....
Who's the boss?.
The Izoard is the boss.....always!
Where's Dan Martin? I wouldn't attempt any of these climbs without a 32.
Nice video but the music is way too loud compared to the voice so it's difficult to understand what you're saying. Sort that out and it's perfect ;-)
+userbeverage Thanks for the input, always appreciated. I check the audio levels on as many devices as I can prior to posting (desktop, laptop, iPad and phone) and also with and without headphones. Lol, I don't think Mke cares about a 2 or 3 percent steeper gradient.
