Congrats on the 100k milestone... well deserved! I would still like to see the guest experience from a "guest" POV, beyond the welcome drink coming on board. You could take someone like Paige and make her the "guest" coming on board for the first time and go through the on boarding process, showing her to her room, introducing all of the amenities, etc. That would be awesome to see day one of a guest. C'mon, you got this lol. If you want to add some hilarity to it, make Saun her "husband" and let them banty about as they explore the ship on "first day aboard". Lots of potential for humor and potential gust experience here... just saying...
Building on this idea; At one point some time ago AWOL (Tristan/SuperYachtCaptain) was talking about giving away a week long charter, perhaps consdier doing something like this with the condition that it can be filmed. Give your viewers a real glimpse into the guest experience and the perspective and thoughts of somenone that otherwise would likely never have that sort of experience. Keep up the awesome content!
Def need more sea stories from Paul and Davie! The crew having a sea chanty-thon. The worst and best ports you've been too, and why. How does one 'get into' yachting as crew (not just where the idea came to the team, but the actual steps taken in their early career.) A swim/jump/dive/surfing competition with the crew. Bring in a UA-camr guest who's willing to share their side of the charter along with yours. More guest horror stories/spilled tea. What's a good guest or what makes a charter especially good for the crew as well as the guests. Some more dive shots. SCUBA in particular.
@@pesqairI noticed this awhile ago and unsubscribed although I still watch out of interest to see how they progress on this current basis . I’ll say that they constitute a splendid crew and it’s always interesting and good to know matters from the perspective of crew. I’ll be sorry if they go down the wrong route , so to speak.
Congratulations on 100k!!! Here are some ideas: I'm very technical so I would enjoy seeing the engine room during diffferent phases of operations. Same with the bridge. Might not be overly popular. Maybe a view into everyone's typical workday on charter. "A day in the life of..." A detailed look at all the toys, tenders, seadoos. I've always wondered about the beach landing craft. Docking in tight spaces is always a great watch, I'll always enjoy docking procedures.
Paul is definitely the Cap. He has the same mentality of all the Captains I've ever met. And yes, even with HR. I was assistant manager for years and I never liked the HR process. Congrats all your milestones. Hope for more to come!
Blair, You are definitely a trend setter in the Yachting UA-cam community! Congratulations on the 100k. You would have never made it this far without your Great crew. Especially the Chef staff ( yeah Paul you’re wrong).
Congrats Loon on the UA-cam plaque, a job well done. It is the hard work of every team member and the leadership of Paul that you folks are so successful. Keep up the great work all.
I would like to see more technical content as well; I know others have said the same. I know its not so glamorous, but deep dives with the engineers about what is going on in the engine room, or the technical side of what really goes into maneuvers, or anchoring, or charting, etc... How does the internet work? What do those servers look like? Lets see some repairs in action! I also think it could be interesting to let each department vlog for a week. Like maybe Alex takes the camera and shows everything he does or something like that...
Congrats Loon team - what I have liked is that you keep it real plus having a couple of Aussies has been refreshing - well done and celebrate the milestone 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Idea 1: Similar to Crew Confessions, a segment from each crew member's day on a yacht, if not an entire day, than the work hours. Differences between 1st and last day of a charter. Idea 2: Recap on entire Med season, but with never before seen footage, if available. Same with Caribbean.
Great video! Some ideas for upcoming videos: - why did you create this chanel? - paul's career and how he started yatching - blair's filming gear - how the girls set up the rooms for guests - places you never went on charter but wish to go someday - a day in the life of the crew - how the crew can "enjoy" the boat when there are no guests onboard - how do you plan any charter stops - what happens when the tip is very low😂 - how do you plan activities whith the guests - how much it costs for the boat to anchor on the marinas and fuel cost - charter stories Just great work! Love the channel!
Huge congratulations to all on loon especially Blair on your award for building your channel. Your content is always entertaining and enjoyable I like the balance you manage to strike between humour and info. Some fantastic sights as well some great destinations on my wish list. As for the food we see…. Keep up the great work
Couple of ideas about future topics. What are the anchors you use and explanations about using them etc. And another one on all the drones Blair uses, and for what purposes does he use different ones and how in the heck he does live feeds of the drone! Seriously impressed on that one! Thanks all of the crew for your candid and fun reveals!
When guests are onboard the whole crew, other than the chefs, wears the same uniform. Since there are multiple uniform options, who makes the decision & tells the crew which uniform to wear for the day or occasion? If the decision was left up to Paul, everyone would be wearing board shorts 24/7! Is it one of the officer's, the chief stew or the purser? At some point I would like to see a more detailed video about refueling the boat & the QC process for the fuel(s). Fire & emergency drills would also be interesting including a trip to yacht crew (re)certification school.
Love it and so true about staff and visitors. I have been in retail business for over 50 years and staff can be so wonderful or such a pain. Thank you for what you do I so wish I was able to afford a charter but- there it is. Keep it up guys.
Guys well done on the 100k subs, here is to 500k. An idea for content is the following: showing in detail what each person does and shoe us as much of this as possible, then how do you recruit new staff for vacant positions as to what you are looking for. Explain how to dock Loon with the bow thrusters and the back props. I will try and think of some more and will let you know.
Congrats to you guys on the youtube award! I love this type of footage. Hearing about you guys is always good. Capt. stories especially. Maybe ellaberate on the question of 'what job would you like to have' and talk about how someone gets there. Keep up the great work and always love the drone footage!
Can we have a video on how under water cleaning of loon is done? And or specks of loon ( how much fuel does she carry, her weight, where was she built, ect ) or how does the captain and chief engineer communicate with each other with different procedures.
Awesome video guys. Don't worry about new ideas, just running such a great yacht every day is so interesting. Every day is different. Are you guys going to produce a Loon calendar?
Blair, what have you done? I recently discovered MY Loon and now I’m hooked. Can’t watch anything else! Really enjoy your filming, slick editing, amazing locations and the way you encourage crew humour.
Congratulations on the plaque - well deserved. Re ideas, it would be nice to do more on some of the passages that you take (most video seems to focus on once at destination). For example, when Paul is on the bridge talking to camera about where Loon is heading, be nicer if the camera swung around to look out of the window, whilst we still hear Paul talking - gives much better idea of the scenery and the other things to be experienced on Loon. Just think that more information on the journey would add to the already great coverage that you do on the destination(s). Could include dealing with weather etc. that you've done a bit of already but would be nice to see more of it. You might be worried about Blair losing more drones whilst underway though, LOL.
just joined the vlog , site etc , amazing how you can spoil people and create such a wonderful team, love the captain who can lead such a amazing team and sail a ultra luxury vessel, love it and saving uo
Well done MY Loon - you commitment to the quality of your feeds and the entire crew sum up the wonderful experience you have let the normal blens enjoy - Special mention to Blair for his talents👍🇦🇺🇦🇺
I like the day in the life of a crew member idea. I’d also like to understand the different departments, how they each run, and how they interact. What rules must crew follow? How often can they leave to go onshore etc? Thank you!
Any yachtie I've seen online always seems to like being on charter rather than off. It's so interesting, I would have figured it would be easier to be off charter/private instead.
Maybe a full workday of the crew, or maybe a day in the life of an guest (when u have a contentcreator who what’s that?). Maybe u can invite Jon Olsen or Bennie for that ❤
Congratulations with well-deserved respect from UA-cam. You truly create interesting and, importantly, high-quality content. For future video ideas, I would suggest dedicating a few episodes to showcasing the typical workday of several crew members. I understand that it's unlikely given your charter, but knowing Blair, he'll surely come up with something. ))
A few random questions: What are the qualifications you need to meet to be a captain (to get licenses, etc.)? What do you do to ensure the crew is trained for an emergency? How often do you do drills to do an emergency evacuation of the vessel? Do you have drills for doing things like navigating with some key piece of equipment inoperable?
Congratulations, enjoying these crew quick fire. Paul, might have to watch what meals you get from chefs. See Loon featured in a couple of other videos over past few weeks, all good reviews, even one re chartering. Maungaturoto New Zealand.
Some easy ideas would be to do things like a day in the life of the sous chef, or deckie, a whole day, not just what they want to show. Wake up to sundown. Also the off charter excursions are great to watch.
I'm assuming that "Chief Officer" is basically an XO? Also fire is such a scary thing. While it stressed, you worked through it and ultimately made you a better Captain having real life experience with it.
Paul, totally with you - I’m sure you can relate to my favourite saying, “My job would be easy if it wasn’t for people”. I know you keep the discipline stuff under wraps on here, but it generally strikes me that you have a very low turnover of crew, though I’m sure with 26 crew, there’s crew members we don’t meet at all. Is that deliberate?
Hi Daniel, Very much so. We are fortunate to have a little crew turnover compared to most yachts in the industry. Most people that do leave Loon is usually for extended vacation, or to find a promotion on another yacht. However, I do need to crack down occasionally; otherwise, the inmates will end up running the asylum. Thanks for watching.
@@CaptainPaulClarke hey fella, that made my day getting a reply from you! With the number of subs you guys have, and how busy you must all be, it’s so nice that you not only read the comments but take the time to reply when you can! I know it’s a bit late to the party but I hope you’ve all had a great start to 2024 in the Caribbean! Enjoy the nice weather, it’s chilly here in the UK!
You mentioned that you’re looking for ideas for future videos. I would like to see the start to finish turnover of a guest cabin. Just to see how detailed the stews are. I also have a question that I mentioned in another comment, I don’t understand from a crew perspective with the differences between on charter and off charter. When you ask the crew, they all prefer charter versus off charter. Is that because of the tips or is that because the sort of work that they’re doing is different?
The video of his interview with Blair, it did cover where Capt. Paul was from. As a proud sand groper myself, I read where he was from Perth and I am interested to know how he got into yachting .
Hey Merv, I grew up sailing at the Royal Perth Yacht Club which allowed me to travel internationally for regattas. On these, I discovered yachting and made the jump over. Starting at the bottom and working my way up. 🇦🇺🤙
I grew up in Narembeen and now retired in north east Thailand. I remember the large racing yacht in the 50's and 60's from Royal Perth and I hope I spell it right Panamouna. I and many Aussies are proud of you Paul, you are a real ambassador for all of Australia.
Great video interesting hearing about the crews different experience and a bit of back story to them. As for funniest Tristan and Cory, I think watching we see a lot of Tristan enjoying himself with any activity he’s doing never seems to be down. A nice Positive attitude. You have a lovely team of people with you Captain Paul I suppose I have to include Blair 😂😂😂 Cheers Guys
Congrats on the 100K. You’ve created a fun channel that I look forward to weekly. ❤ Questions for any crew members that will answer. Have you seen the Bravo series Below Deck and how does it compare or not compare to your actual experiences? No fair calling it an HR nightmare Paul, that’s a given. 😂😂🤣🤣
Congratulations on hitting 100,000 subs. I would like to see how you teach guests how to kite board And use all the water toys on board.I know you guys dont show guests, so it could be a crew member. And Show us how you guys really have fun in the water when uncharted. Only if it doesn't get you guys in trouble. We wouldn't want that❤ if chartering a boat like loom wasn't so expensive i would.😢
Hi guys congrats on the 100k, I subscribed months and months ago and have seen all the great videos you have done. Ideas for a video, could someone when you have no guests stand in for a guest or guests so we can see what guest get when the charter. I understand none of your real guests what to be seen, but "the day/simulated week in the life of a guest" would be good to see🙂
👍✅👏 great stuff, never a dull moment. Paul more sailing stories are always interesting. Sure you could do something with everyone telling the best of or worst of their stories.
Loon, we are at the same anchorage at Bitter End. If you see two idiots on a skiff nearby, please don't shoot. We are making repairs (second today), replacing house batteries, and heading for Anegada later this morning. I had to replace the impeller and manifold, praying for no more breakdowns. Have a great here, your friends, on S V WindFall.
Thank You, Captian; we made repairs and got underway we had dinner at the Lobster trap at anegada.Looking forward to following you and crew on UA-cam@@motoryachtloon
Ideas "A Day in the Life of ..." It may sound boring - however - the background work done each day must be immense ! Capt Paul alone must have a huge paperwork load, the purser, engineers. A more detailed look into what is required each day just to keep the vessel operative would be fascinating.
follow the stews for a day to see the various things they not interview but actually see them do it. Love your channel, congratulation on achieving the 100K mark. Captain you didn't say where you were from.
Love the videos, been following since Loon 221 was purchased. Question for Paul, do you have a maximum age that you would recommend someone get into yachting?
Most people join in their 20s as it is a labor-intensive job. However, I know some crew members who have joined in their 50s. There is a boat out there for everyone.
Greetings from the UK 🇬🇧 Crew Bios are definitely always a highlight, @CaptainPaulClarke was always going to be a highlight, really interesting so thank you 🙏 @motoryatchtloon I would be interested to see more behind-the-scenes, about how the yacht runs so smoothly. It was interesting for the Antigua Live seeing Captain Paul reversing the yacht in, and then mention was made of setting anchors, and how the anchors were set etc. I would be interested to see how this is done, especially using the chase boat! I imagine it must quite complicated, but I think it would make good content?
Being in management most of my life I can say that negative interactions between employees cause the most headaches and take up most of the non managerial time for any manager.(yes I realize that people interactions fall under management tasks) But there are hundreds of other areas that require far more time but these are usually situational problem’s that can be immediately far more emergency related. But relational squabbles can be longer lasting and far more destructive for the rest of the Employees if not handled correctly and timely.
Blair, congrats. Long time big time producer here… (I used to be a big deal…). I’m triggered by missed opportunities. In the first scene, when you click your fingers CUT THERE , don’t just wander off and kinda cut. You don’t need a fancy transition but one would help. Dip thru white,, for instance. And the high five with 2nd Stew, same thing. Cut a few frames after clap. Your shots are excellent, mostly. For the interviews, if you shoot 4k you can punch into a closeup in the edit. But the biggest thing I can suggest is to practice ‘outro’ so an interview ends and you get out quickly. By all means say thank you but make it snappy and get out - cut out, I don’t mean exit frame. There’s a bit of awkward pause and lollygagging about. Having said that, I enjoy your videos.
Hey Cpt Paul! I am starting out in the superyacht industry with all my licenses and lots of sailing and hospitality experience. Whats your biggest advice for getting my first position? Thanks!
Congrats! Make sure all your intro qualifications are good. Move to a yachting hub. Fort Lauderdale, Palma, or Antibes. Try and get some day work. Work hard and stay out of the party scene. If you have other valuable skills to the boat, emphasize them as anyone can push a chamois.
How do you handle wildly varying preferences amongst the guests on the same charter. For example, my husband and I are vegetarians and I don't drink while my husband does. If we had guests we'd want to ensure they could eat what they wanted without fearing cross contamination with our food. We'd also want the same high quality of veggie options, similar to what Eleven Madison Park offers. More importantly, everyone focuses on drinking on vacation but there are so many mocktail options. I would love to learn more about how your staff treats these preferences differently.
Enjoying the videos, new to the channel. One question would be about the coms tech on the yacht. I would like to know a bit more about the recent upgrades and what it means to have these improvements? Also, what coms systems there are on board and what the various antennas are for. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Congrats on the 100k milestone... well deserved! I would still like to see the guest experience from a "guest" POV, beyond the welcome drink coming on board. Fun times! Congrats on the 100,000.
You have a lovely team of people with you Captain Paul I suppose I have to include Blair 😂😂😂
Cheers Guys
Fascinating 👍👏👏
Great content and presentation. Good insight into the crew. 🇦🇺 😊
Congrats on the 100K. You’ve created a fun channel that I look forward to weekly. ❤
Questions for any crew members that will answer. Have you seen the Bravo series Below Deck and how does it compare or not compare to your actual experiences? No fair calling it an HR nightmare Paul, that’s a given. 😂😂🤣🤣
About 6 hour video with Nina would suit me just fine
Congratulations on hitting 100,000 subs.
I would like to see how you teach guests how to kite board And use all the water toys on board.I know you guys dont show guests, so it could be a crew member.
And Show us how you guys really have fun in the water when uncharted. Only if it doesn't get you guys in trouble. We wouldn't want that❤ if chartering a boat like loom wasn't so expensive i would.😢
Loved the “I’m a translator” followed by “I don’t know how to say that in English” 😅😅😅
I would like to see more of the technical side, dive gear eg air compressors etc , toys, engine room and other tech.
Hey Rick, that's awesome. We love it up here in North Sound. Feel free to let us know if you need any help with the repairs. Good luck 🤙
Thank You, Captian; we made repairs and got underway we had dinner at the Lobster trap at anegada.Looking forward to following you and crew on UA-cam@@motoryachtloon
next time come by and say hi. Enjoy those lobsters 🛥🥂
Well done folks, strong work on the google award 🏆
(Legal) crew pranks would be fun! Congrats on 100K in only 6 months...from a fellow 100K youtuber
Ideas "A Day in the Life of ..." It may sound boring - however - the background work done each day must be immense ! Capt Paul alone must have a huge paperwork load, the purser, engineers. A more detailed look into what is required each day just to keep the vessel operative would be fascinating.
Congratulations on 100k. Great videos. When are you coming to the west coast of Canada? Great Cruising grounds.
I can't believe you bit the hands that feed you Captain. Good luck at mealtimes.
haha I probably should have said engineer.. haha Its all in good fun. they give it back twice as hard.
As for topics - More engineering and maintenance- How often is the bottom cleaned, haul out, etc….
follow the stews for a day to see the various things they not interview but actually see them do it. Love your channel, congratulation on achieving the 100K mark. Captain you didn't say where you were from.
😂😂😂Love that comment on the chefs job🎉
VIDEO IDEA: Engineering maintenance schedules, PMS, refueling, fresh water desalination, etc...
I would love to see a technical overview of the controls on the bridge!
Congrats guys! 👏
Glückwunsch zu 100K 👍 ...... Weiter so ! 👌
Hi Paul & Blair I would be interested in more info on planning for charters also something on training for crew members. Cheers.
love the content!!!!
Greetings from the UK 🇬🇧
Crew Bios are definitely always a highlight, @CaptainPaulClarke was always going to be a highlight, really interesting so thank you 🙏
@motoryatchtloon I would be interested to see more behind-the-scenes, about how the yacht runs so smoothly. It was interesting for the Antigua Live seeing Captain Paul reversing the yacht in, and then mention was made of setting anchors, and how the anchors were set etc. I would be interested to see how this is done, especially using the chase boat! I imagine it must quite complicated, but I think it would make good content?
You guys should get a small sailboat like a beneateu first 14 for guests
Being in management most of my life I can say that negative interactions between employees cause the most headaches and take up most of the non managerial time for any manager.(yes I realize that people interactions fall under management tasks)
But there are hundreds of other areas that require far more time but these are usually situational problem’s
that can be immediately far more emergency related.
But relational squabbles can be longer lasting and far more destructive for the rest of the
Employees if not handled correctly and timely.
And congratulations on the UTube award.
Loonies for sure❤️
U need to do more livestreams with Nina and the crew in the kitchen
guys i love y’all and welldone with the plague! sending love from Durbs x
Great! Thanks from Germoney.
Great stuf guys. One question: How do you get such a great crew together?
HAHA i'm curious what Captain Paul's punishment was by the chef was after that comment! LMAO congrats on 100k
