Totally love Marco's style and attitude. I laughed to myself because I was thinking that in 3 hours probably I won't be able to finish the assembly of the model and in the meanwhile a period between 1 week and 1 month could pass just to prime it. For completing the model another month, and here we have my speed paint done easily in just 3 months, Without Marco suggestions it might have taken 1 year, a great success tbh!

That orange-brown ink to desaturate and apply sepia :chefkiss:
I painted a feculent gnarlmaw for my brother, using Gal-something Red(?, it was a dark-wine-burgundy color). I really liked the color, and didn’t want to go lighter. So I pulled Athelorn Camoshade(?, green wash???) and applied it like a shadow knowing it would wash out the dark areas. Anything else it touched would just be made more nurgly.

    Hey Marco,
Love the mood on this mini.
Trying out this method for some time and have a question.
If you apply a universal environmental shadow at the beginning why do you decide to do different colours of washes? Is the wash colour choice connected with the shadow tone from the beginning at all?
I am struggling with this step as I am never sure if I should be planning wash colour to enhance the shadow or rather focus on how it will affect tones.
I rarely reach the mood and tones I have in the head. Either shadow is off or tones are.

I will keep improving and I will have to invest in an even better airbrush in the future.

THREE HOURS ✨ he's a master. This looked super fun and im excited to try it out. I was curious since you do plenty of 3d printing you must have a UV curing chamber-thingy. Why not cure the base in there and not bother with the tiny torches 😅

    • @MarcoFrisoniNJM

Violett Dunkel (Dark Violet) is the first Molotow paint I bought after Signal Black. Turns out, it's not dark, but more of a midtone. I love Molotow paints but there naming schemes and swatches on the website are not the most accurate. Since Signal Black is so powerful, adding 1 drop black to 9 drops Violet Dark gives you an actual dark violet, but desaruates a decent amount as well.

@@hydrascalemodels sadly no 🥲 they are extremely fluid and extremely opaque even with extra dilution; they are great for solid base coating, value blocking and freehands, but they can't cover every aspect of painting. Acrylic gouache/SoFlat can definitely be that universal tool!

Always love watching you work Marco - quick question (for you or any others here)... I've been working with oils a lot more recently and love it, although I am always apprehensive when transitioning from oils > acrylic. What guidelines do you tend to follow when switching back and forth? Do you ever apply a varnish inbetween, and how long of a wait before applying varnish if so? I often will try to switch back to acrylic without a varnish but the oily surface will fight back against me. And then other times I'll apply a varnish and then get some strange results on the surface, likely due to not waiting long enough for the oils to dry... Early on I think my oil layers were just too thick, but still encountering similar results now that I'm thinning things down a lot more. Any tips would be super appreciated! Thanks! :)
