Thanks for this video. I have some freeplay in my steering wheel at highway speeds, but my tie rods seem strong, so I think this might be another place to check. I love it how every mechanical repair seems quick and easy with a good eastern european accent! keep it up.
Thank you for the great video . Two thumbs up👍👍. It's good that you fixed it when you did . That crack could have caused the U-joint to break and caused an accident. I'm going to check the U-joint on my 1990 DL240 .
What type of rack and pinion do I need? Some one is trying to tell me there are two kinds. ZF and Cam style, or type. Is this true, or are they fooling with me. I'm quite frustrated.
I wish he had shown removal of the old one. Thats what i'm dealing with. Its an aluminum steering joint on steel shafts. Aluminum and steel don't like each other and create a chemical reaction like rust over time. They seize to each other. I've broken to many steel bolts in aluminum intake manifolds and i see this when i'm working and cringe. I swear to god whoever designed this should be shot. lol XD
thank you very much when i went for inspection he told me i needed this
Exactly the video I was looking for to remove the U-Joint on my 740 =)
Thank You!!!!!
Replaced this part twice
