Arthur Morgan, he robbed banks, slayed a vampire, witnessed the creation of a killer robot, liberated enslaved Caribbean islanders, and fought in the last of the Indian wars, on the side of the Indians. Then he died of tuberculosis.
Yeah but technically the Indian Wars ended about 13 years before this game takes place. Makes me wondering how amazing a RDR game would be if it revolved around Geronimo and his gang.
Rains Fall has to be the most sympathetic character Rockstar has ever made, his whole family died through racism and hate crimes but not once did he ever want revenge, he just wanted peace. I'll admit when he tried to convince his son i let a tear out, a underrated gem of a character.
I can imagine Dutch's face looking back to see that only 3 men were riding behind him down that hill, and seeing that Arthur had more men riding alongside him. I think there the divide of the gang is really clear. Arthur and Dutch became two different leaders of a fractured gang. And it's clear that Arthur earned the respect from more people than Dutch.
Luke This wasn't about loyalty. John didn't have anything to do with the natives conflict besides being part of Dutch's gang so he only followed orders because Dutch was still his leader.
You’ve got a good point, but Sadie didn’t have anything to do with the natives conflict either and she rode with Arthur here. It just seems so out of character since John was on Team Arthur at this point. He was yelling at Dutch on the way, so was Sadie and Arthur, and shared a meaningful look with Arthur on the way, he was sitting with Charles and Sadie at the fire and got up to defend Arthur, and the second half of the game is literally about him and Arthur becoming brothers again with John becoming the family man. Hell the epilogue is him, Charles and Sadie. He should have ridden with Arthur in this scene.
@@luke8801 Well, Sadie was never really part of the gang. She was loyal to Arthur and not Dutch. But I do agree that it would have been great if John rode with Arthur. However, Dutch specifically ordered the rest of the gang to go with him. John denying that would just break up the pace of the scene considering that wasn't his conflict.
I love Charles loyalty to Arthur, the fact that him and Sadie stuck with Arthur is just so damn cool Edit: yes John as well but we kinda already knew he'd stick with him either way so no point in mentioning him. I believe even though Sadie and Arthur barely had really any 1 on 1 interactions in the game, she still saw the good in Arthur and I believe it makes sense as to why she chose his side(also she outright refused to follow someone who'd be willing to betray one of his friends and gang members (Dutch betraying John and Arthur in favor of Micah) Charles and Arthur always got along with eachother so it definitely makes sense there as Charles probably sees Arthur through the same viewpoint as Sadie.
What's funny is that when you go back to the First Read Dead Redemption when Dutch and John has a final standoff, they both had a brief discussion. Dutch: I have a plan, John. John: You always have a plan. Dutch: This is a really good one. John: I don't doubt it.

Look at how the camp is laid out at the start of the mission. You’ve got Dutch, Micah, Joe and Cleet on one side. Bill and Javier in the middle, and Charles, John and Saide on the other side. Showing who is on what side, and who is undecided.
Yes and Susan was in the middle too, until she had a huge argument with Dutch in camp and after that she works and sits behind Arthur and John's tent where the other tents are.
If eagle flies and rains fall didn't show up I bet the gang would have actually split right in that moment since after this Arthur loses more followers, Charles helps the natives, Arthur insists the women and everyone should leave but gets turned down and the train mission happens then he says bye to Tilly, Abigail and Sadie and then it's the end standoff with just him, grimshaw and John
I wish rockstar would make a civil war or revolutionary war game or at least a game in one of those time frames I’m a huge fan of reading and learning about those eras. Just the thought of being able to ride in with the Calvary give me goosebumps lol so far with my experience with rdr2 my favorite moment is when the gang ride to the braithwate manor to get jack everyone riding together knowing their about to fuck some stuff up is an awesome feeling
Waterman217 70 rockstar might make a game like that but if fortnite fucking wins goty in game awards again itll probably unlikely. Trashy games winning
@Dante Trajano Pretty sure it was to keep an eye on Dutch on Arthur's behalf. Also, perhaps it was to look out for Javier and Bill too. I mean, despite the turmoil, all of them have been riding together for YEARS. That ain't something that can be dissipated easily.
This entire mission just summarizes what a person Dutch really became. An antagonist who uses other to gain what he wants (when he used the Native's cause) and who is willing to betray his trusted friends and allies (Arthur)
I really like how the relationship between Rains Fall and Eagle Flies is a backwards mirror of the relationship between Dutch and Arthur. EF and Dutch are both stubborn, proud men who refused to see the truth and allowed their pride to cloud their judgement. RF and Arthur see that they have to change to survive, and they try to tell this to their partners.
Except EF went in to save Arthur after Dutch got a case of limber tail. EF was angry about what was happening to his people. He wasn't a dishonorable person by any stretch.
When the gang splits up before the shooting starts, John, Javier, Bill, and Dutch go one way; Only characters to make it to RDR1. Arthur stays with Charles and Sadie and leads the Natives against the US Army. This all happens at the end of RDR2. At the end of RDR1, John goes with the US Army to wipe out Dutch and his Native American allies. Interesting parallel
at 0:24, when arthur was confronting micah, i like how charles, john, and sadie wete walking behind arthur. even before eagle flies arived to the scenes
I really enjoyed Charles's combat dialog throughout this mission, his concern for Arthur and his distain and anger at the army is really good at setting the mood!
All you talking about how badass the fight scene was when rains fall is just trying to save the life of his last born son by trying to alter his mind, but dutch had eagle flies mind made up for him already. watching this after playing the game makes me feel sad for rains fall
This mission kind of makes me interested in a story where Arthur lives and creates his own gang that is opposed to dutches. Imagine a Morgan gang VS Van der Linde gang. Idk it’s interesting to me.
I feel we could get a rdr3 which could be in 1870's which would be the prime of wild west with either: Original trio Dutch, Hosea and Arthur, not sure if the 70's is right here but you know Or the beginning of Dutch vs O'Driscoll with the ending being the death of Annabelle. Or as a pow of O'Driscoll Edit. spelling and stuff
And Rockstar could 100% make this. All they have to do is use the base RDR2 engine, do mocap and new character assets, and other details and you have a barebones but very story centered DLC. Only they'll never make it because they have too many GTA online wet dreams to make anything new and interesting.
No they were already on the same page because John was arguing with Dutch on the ride there and he and Arthur looked at each other realizing Dutch is completely gone
I appreciate the fact that this man is playing with free aim. Turns the game from trivial and easy to a visceral game with some of the best gun mechanics.
6:40 That was epic, I wish if the gang members was still complete and loyal. Arthur, Dutch, John, Hosea, Bill, Javier, Lenny, Charles, Mac, Davey, Sean, Micah (even tho he’s a rat. but he only ratted the gang after guarma)
4:22 This hurts to hear Javier say. Up till this point he was my favorite character. It hurt to see him take Dutch’s side over the John and Arthur’s side. It’s unlike Bill, who’s loyalty at this point is a result of stupidity, Javier’s loyalty hurts more, because he is smarter than that.
The thing I find most saddening is the fact that they actually got what they wanted in the end. After every failed bank mission and heist-- they finally had a successful robbery; the state bonds, the military train. They could get away..except who would? When in the end, even as Dutch was clutching stacks upon stacks upon stacks of cash, there were people--his people, his family-- left abandoned, dead and betrayed--mostly because of his recklessness. At this point, we truly get to witness the true depth of Dutch's descent and how lost he had become. All sight and purpose of their troubles--as well as his efforts--forgotten. It went from "one more score and we can get out" to just "one more score" over and over. He leaves Jack, Abigail, Tilly, John, Charles and Arthur to fend for themselves. He became the man he despised in the books of Evelyn Miller. So full of stubborn pride, and desperation, and anger and greed. The worst part is--he finally realizes this. But it's too late, because it was only in Arthur's death that he discovered the slow festering of his failures. Yes, Dutch van der Linde got what he wanted, but he sure as hell lost what he had.
griz312 Arthur was always conflicted about the choices Dutch made throughout the game. But what really caused Arthur to reach his breaking point was when Dutch left him to die and got Eagle Flies killed. Can’t really blame him for being so angry.
Watching John, Sadie and Charles walk right up behind Arthur is a testimony of loyalty, it’s sad though that all the people that died would have joined Arthur’s side in a heartbeat.
I think some members of the gang, like Arthur and Charles, view loyalty as sticking by whoever sticks with you (which is the honorable definition). But other members of the gang, like Dutch, Javier and Bill, viewed loyalty as only sticking by the gang and no one else (hence why they were willing to go along with Dutch's plan). And then there's Micah, who has no loyalty to anyone or anything. I love all of the little details and contradictory opinions the devs give to each character that make them all unique.
The most heartbraking of the Wapiti reservation is that after the government invaded it you can buy a newspaper as John and see the news that no oil was found there. So they killed them all in vain. Edit. Bad wording but I don't mean that oil is a valid reason to kill someone
I want gladly to say thanks for your gameplay, pal! The way you played is like that you're giving a real life to Arthur character, like he's adopted the posture of a true leader during this mission (and in the end he truly was). You showed all of his personality with your gameplay and choices when in action. It was all perfect, thank you very much!
The most badass mission of this entire game!!! Dutch with Bill Javier and John Marston and Arthur with Sadie, Charles Smith and the natives. Two sides but with differences. Yeah right Dutch, you except me to believe that you were coming for John.

I loved this mission it’s one of my favorite ones but this mission also destroyed what little respect I had left for Dutch, as a person who didn’t play rdr1 Dutch actually seemed a very likable and honorable character before chapter 6.
For Micah it was less about antagonizing Arthur and more about putting ideas in Dutch's head that Arthur was treacherous and that Micah was loyal. "You show him some respect!" "what else you been doing behind Dutch's back?" Dutch sickens me with his incessant need to be worshipped. Micah played him like a fiddle.
Holy fuck, I remember the first time playing this mission when you charge the enemy with your comrades, that bad ass music kicking off with a Native American chant, horses neighing as bullets whistle all around you. There’s just something so incredibly bad ass about this mission - you’ve spent hours and hours as Arthur and fought many many people. You’ve grown to appreciate your gang - at least the ones that remain loyal to you. Charging into battle with them against the freaking US army is exhilarating. I understand that some people don’t like this game - they call it slow, tedious, whatever. But honestly, for everyone one slow mission that seems irrelevant (looking at you, epilogue bounty hunting missions) there’s a dozen epic, atmospheric, and awesome ones like this.
Rains fall did not want to lose his son and felt great pain for his sons decision I really liked his character a lot because he showed great wisdom and advice
I love the subtle change of the music during their ride towards the place. It sounds like Indians preparing for the inevitable war after every broken promise, war drums being banged steadily as the Gang rides closer to the oil fields. And then suddenly US Army marching drums kick into gear high gear to signify these two sides at play here. 6:45 Then finally the cavalry charge happens, and the guitar that cuts through into the 2 factions is representing the Gangs move into the chaos.
It amazes me how it shows both sides of the argument with taking a side. Rains Falls Is an old man who had seen his people war with each other and then the Americans. He was proud and brash in his youth but as he got older and had a family he had to make sacrifices, give ground, and hope that it would buy his people a bit more time. All the while his enemy showed their unstoppable might. Eagle Flies, much like his name, soars with pride, climbing higher and higher. Believing that his father has given up, he has become the last savior for his people. That if he killed enough Americans, innocent or otherwise, then they would go away.
This mission almost made me cry, even tho it wasn’t my tribe, I felt so much representation from this mission alone. It was the first time I saw Native Americans in a game. Red dead redemption 2 did a good job representing us, 100% the best game I’ve ever played.
@@anwarshafee6403 I barely play any games but this was the first game I played that had natives in it. I’m aware that others had natives in it before red dead 2
I used to actually think that Dutch was always secretly evil, but then I remembered the fishing mission in chapter 3 with Arthur and Hosea and realized that he actually changed. More of his comrades kept on dying, Hosea, Lenny, Sean, Mac, and Davey, and as his gang kept being backed into a corner by the both the Pinkertons and the U.S Army, his personality changed and he become completely selfish, hence him leaving Arthur and John for dead.
Rain Falls was everything Arthur believed Dutch was.

Waterman217 70 Those are my favorite parts of the game
Yeah and the emotion you got going to the Bank in Saint Denis it sucks that it all went to shit thanks to Micah
Waterman217 70 rockstar might make a game like that but if fortnite fucking wins goty in game awards again itll probably unlikely. Trashy games winning
Ever played call of Juarez?
BN Films wow I’m hard just thinking about those possibilities
6:25 is where Arthur and Dutch show their true colors. Arthur goes for to save his friend and Dutch goes for the money and "the plan"
Perhaps, keeping an eye on Dutch on Arthur's behalf, since John at this mission is unsure about his suspicions re Dutch.

Soldier: Holly shit we're done...
“We’re riding, with you.” Is one of my favorite Charles lines and overall lines in the game
This entire mission just summarizes what a person Dutch really became. An antagonist who uses other to gain what he wants (when he used the Native's cause) and who is willing to betray his trusted friends and allies (Arthur)
Javier in this point of the story is just the young kid being torn in two by two feuding parents on the verge of a divorce.
He would choose the father or the husband
For the sake of safety and security.

Yes, EF is just angry that he will violate the old peace treaties in order to correct the injustices against Native Americans.

Tristan King And Micah can’t be loved
When the gang splits up before the shooting starts, John, Javier, Bill, and Dutch go one way; Only characters to make it to RDR1. Arthur stays with Charles and Sadie and leads the Natives against the US Army. This all happens at the end of RDR2. At the end of RDR1, John goes with the US Army to wipe out Dutch and his Native American allies. Interesting parallel
Oh that's cool I had not thought about that. I'm gonna see on my next playthrough tho.
My heart bleeds for Rain Falls in this scene
at 0:24, when arthur was confronting micah, i like how charles, john, and sadie wete walking behind arthur. even before eagle flies arived to the scenes
I really enjoyed Charles's combat dialog throughout this mission, his concern for Arthur and his distain and anger at the army is really good at setting the mood!
You also can hear Arthur talking shit as well "This regimate is a joke" and the other members as well talking shit at the army as well.
It hits home for him considering the army did the same to his family and people
All you talking about how badass the fight scene was when rains fall is just trying to save the life of his last born son by trying to alter his mind, but dutch had eagle flies mind made up for him already. watching this after playing the game makes me feel sad for rains fall
6:42 the way he says "Come on then". Incredible voice acting
This mission kind of makes me interested in a story where Arthur lives and creates his own gang that is opposed to dutches. Imagine a Morgan gang VS Van der Linde gang. Idk it’s interesting to me.
I feel we could get a rdr3 which could be in 1870's which would be the prime of wild west with either:
Original trio Dutch, Hosea and Arthur, not sure if the 70's is right here but you know
Or the beginning of Dutch vs O'Driscoll with the ending being the death of Annabelle.
Or as a pow of O'Driscoll
Edit. spelling and stuff
And Rockstar could 100% make this. All they have to do is use the base RDR2 engine, do mocap and new character assets, and other details and you have a barebones but very story centered DLC. Only they'll never make it because they have too many GTA online wet dreams to make anything new and interesting.

I love how Dutch tells everyone to follow him, only to have 3 people follow him.
It really surprised me that John didn’t stay with Arthur that was a bad decision on the developers because they’re like brothers
John was still a bit conflicted at this point in the story.
And they weren‘t really like brothers until the end
No they were already on the same page because John was arguing with Dutch on the ride there and he and Arthur looked at each other realizing Dutch is completely gone

This hurts to hear Javier say.
After every failed bank mission and heist--
they finally had a successful robbery; the state bonds, the military train.
“We’re riding with you.” Always hits different. Need more Charles lol
6:45 Me and the boys raiding Area 51

But i get the joke 😂
Arthur Morgan a new meaning of “ride with me!” to “DRIVE WITH ME!”
You have to be a fool if it took you this long not to trust Dutch after he walks away.
griz312 Arthur was always conflicted about the choices Dutch made throughout the game. But what really caused Arthur to reach his breaking point was when Dutch left him to die and got Eagle Flies killed. Can’t really blame him for being so angry.
0:27, John, Charles and Sadie were ready to side with Arthur. Shit was about to really go down and THEN COMES EAGLE FLIES TO RUIN THE MOMENT 🤦🏾♂️

Mattew L you got the fucking time stamp wrong.
I love this mission and the braithwrath manor fight is good.
I love the assault on Bronte's mansion the most, it's so underrated, I personally like it more than the Braithwaite manor fight.
Watching John, Sadie and Charles walk right up behind Arthur is a testimony of loyalty, it’s sad though that all the people that died would have joined Arthur’s side in a heartbeat.

When Javier said “What happened to loyalty?”, I said “What happened to having a brain?” Dutch was using the Indians just like he used everyone else
Native Americans
@@judestinks Your right I’m sorry. Although I should’ve said indigenous people.
"We're riding with you."
That hit me.
this mission, and the one where you go and attack the braithwaites to rescue jack. during those i was out for blood.
I've never ever in my entire life had bigger goosebumps then during 6:40 scene when I played RDR2 first time
Yess!!!! I felt it too.
Everyone who went with Arthur to save the native Americans are true friends
The most heartbraking of the Wapiti reservation is that after the government invaded it you can buy a newspaper as John and see the news that no oil was found there. So they killed them all in vain.
Edit. Bad wording but I don't mean that oil is a valid reason to kill someone
A pyrrhic victory for the gang and Cornwall.
An absolute tragedy, but in the words of paytah, it was better to die fighting than to die from the viruses/infection the army/invaders brought over
I want gladly to say thanks for your gameplay, pal! The way you played is like that you're giving a real life to Arthur character, like he's adopted the posture of a true leader during this mission (and in the end he truly was). You showed all of his personality with your gameplay and choices when in action. It was all perfect, thank you very much!

I loved this mission it’s one of my favorite ones but this mission also destroyed what little respect I had left for Dutch, as a person who didn’t play rdr1 Dutch actually seemed a very likable and honorable character before chapter 6.
6:48 *getting the boys to crack the cold one 1899 colorized*
For Micah it was less about antagonizing Arthur and more about putting ideas in Dutch's head that Arthur was treacherous and that Micah was loyal.

i love how the real squad stayed with arthur
The best part is rockstar lets you replay the missions
Rains fall did not want to lose his son and felt great pain for his sons decision I really liked his character a lot because he showed great wisdom and advice
I love the subtle change of the music during their ride towards the place. It sounds like Indians preparing for the inevitable war after every broken promise, war drums being banged steadily as the Gang rides closer to the oil fields. And then suddenly US Army marching drums kick into gear high gear to signify these two sides at play here.
6:45 Then finally the cavalry charge happens, and the guitar that cuts through into the 2 factions is representing the Gangs move into the chaos.
6:50 that charging should be a memory for the Native Americans fighting against Americans
6:46 embodiment of the old Westerns. God I loved that charge.
When all the students finally get pissed at the school.

6:18 you know, there was something epic when Eagle Flies was fighting these man. Idk why but it's so epic
Best mission in the game. This felt like I was in a movie immersed in a huge battle
The SCORE for this whole mission just makes this even more amazing
The actor for eagle flies is victor from breaking bad if you didn’t. Imagine the colonel killed eagle flies with a box cutter
Damn, didn't know that was him.
Age of Empires 3?
@@anwarshafee6403 I barely play any games but this was the first game I played that had natives in it. I’m aware that others had natives in it before red dead 2
dutch went mad, power got in his head. i remember that fishing mission with him and hosea, felt like family
I love the track that plays at 3:11, especially when the beat picks up. probably my favorite one. all the campaigns tracks are lovely though
