    🚨 CORRECTION:
    I was informed that you can’t switch to multi-coin support if using the Bitcoin-Only wallet.
    Sorry for the confusion. I was told two different things.

    Trezor safe 5 is the choice then. You can split the seed phrase up like a multi sig. Meaning your protecting yourself from loss or theft. You can use the SD card to make the Trezor obsolete without it. Splitting the Trezor and SD in different locations makes theft impossible.
    Sure you might get killed anyway if someone doesnt believe you but.... Eventually it will become common knowledge that you cant steal crypto physically. It will reduce crime and make it much safer. On top of that Tezor donates to Bitcoin education with each purchase.

    Subscribed! Great channel I really appreciate the info but just have 2 newb questions:
    1) so what happens if my trezor gets lost or destroyed? Is my crypto gone, or am I good as long as I have my pins and seed words recorded somewhere or memorized?
    2) I have a really old PC, will trezor still work for me or would I need a newer laptop?

    • @cyberscrilla
      @cyberscrilla  4 місяці тому +5

      Thanks for the sub!
      1) As long as you have your seed phrase you can recover your crypto on nearly any hardware wallet device-even a different brand wallet.
      2) Trezor suite is supported by both older and newer Mac, Windows, and Linux computers.
      Worst case, you can use the “Trezor Suite for Web” option in your browser rather than downloading the app.
      But if your computer supports downloading it, I’d do that.
      FYI, you can try downloading Trezor Suite right now before you even buy the wallet.
      Just go to their website and try it out-it’s free software.

      @luissaavedramori4692 Safepal is a reputable company. I use the X1 myself. That said, I have about 7 wallets I use on a “consistent” basis.

    question. I originally had the Trezor one and upgraded to the safe 3. When I setup my safe 3, I used the recovery option using the seed from the trezor one. So my safe 3 has a 24 word seed phrase. Can I still change to slip 39 backup? If yes, and I want to do a 2 out of 3 shares, will one of the shares be the original 24 word seed, or will it generate 3 new 20 word seeds?

    • @cyberscrilla
      @cyberscrilla  4 місяці тому +1

      You can’t change your seed phrase.
      You have to initially set it up using the SLIP39 20-word phrase, which you clicks later update to the multi-share phrase.
      So you need to create a new one if you want to use slip39

      Yes, there is no limit to where you can receive crypto from. As long as the platform you currently have crypto on allows you to send your crypto externally, you can send it to your cold wallet.
      And yes, there's no limit to how much crypto you can store using a cold wallet, so if you want to send both yours and your wife's crypto to one cold wallet, that's completely fine and normal.

    The only issue trezor has, that trezor isnt spread wide in defi.
    If you use defi alot, you should get keystone 3 pro.
    You can use metamask with trezor and that it. So if you want to use a network which isnt evm, trezor isnt for you, since support of hot wallets is weak, like solona memes or staking etc. Etc
    I have both and use them both for difference cases.
    As long trezor doesnt spread theirs wallets in defi, im mainly using it as cold storage only.

    After watching the review of the Safe 5 model, I don't see it offering any significant advantages over the Trezor Model T. Both have similar sizes and features, with the only notable difference being the addition of a side SD card slot on the Safe 5. However, if you lose the SD card, you can just wipe the device and regain access, which seems redundant. The Safe 5 is cheaper, but other than that, it doesn't offer much to differentiate it from the Model T.
    If you already own the Trezor Model T, there's no need to switch to the Safe 5. For new users starting fresh, the Safe 5 might be a more budget-friendly option if saving around $20 is a concern.

      But if you aren’t worried about that, the old Trezor models are great.

      @@cyberscrilla That doesn’t make any sense. I’m not sure if you’re being compensated or just not informed, but Trezor Company R.S.O owns and manufactures the Trezor Wallet, and also has an official Amazon account to be able to distribute through Amazon because it makes a lot more sense for them logistically. It also gives the company exposure to prime members. Buying from the official Trezor Amazon account is no different than buying off of the Trezor website and relying on USPS, FEDEX, UPS, or whichever other shipping service.

    Hmmm...The Trezor is not Air Gapped, (in direct contact with internet, huge security risk), Using Trezor's "software" Trezor Suite to interface, no Checksum or SHA256 to verify the Firmware before installing. Don't mean to be a hard ass, but this is not worth the risk. At this price point You'd be better off using Keystone's 3 Pro...

    • @cyberscrilla

      Air gap does not equal more secure.
      Common misconception.
      Malware can still be transferred via QR codes-it’s all data at the end of the day.
      Also Trezor does offer SHA256 if you want it. However the automatic authentication check is good so you don’t have to use manual sha method if you don’t want to.
      I trust both Keystone and Trezor to secure my crypto-both are open source-but Trezor is overall a more user friendly option.

    can you confirm that Trezor firmware update NO LONGER REQUIRES unplug/replug sequence.... DID TREZOR CHANGE THE FIRWARE UPDATE PROCESS?

    • @cyberscrilla
      @cyberscrilla  4 місяці тому +1

      I’m not familiar with that sequence.
      During setup, you have to install the firmware as it arrives with no firmware.
      As for future updates, once you plugin the device and unlock it, Trezor Suite will inform you if your device needs an update.
      You can also manually check for updates in Trezor Suite.

      @QuadTap 4 місяці тому

      @@cyberscrilla i use to be that you had to unplug the device and swipe your finger on the screen WHILE plugging it back in to initialize the firmware update sequence on the device itself. @QuadTap Hmm. I’ve never seen that and I’ve owned my Trezor wallet for about a year.
      You must plug in the device and approve the firmware update still. There’s nothing unsecure about it.
      Especially because the bootloader would detect if there were a malicious firmware or anything like that.

      Then don’t use the micro SD.
      It’s optional. Like i mentioned in the video, I don’t use it.
      Also, if the micro sd failed you don’t lose access to your crypto. That’s what a seed phrase is for.
      You’d just factory reset the device and import your phrase.
      The micro sd card is solely to increases device security and further protect it from physical attacks.

But no one’s hacking into a BC-Vault wallet anytime in the next 20 years if ever.
