  • These ladies are shook by this maternity leave stat, but also not shook at all. Maybe that’s ‘cause we expect to be let down by the system at this point? 🤷 What do you think, mamas?

In Sweden we have 2 years paid paternity leave and a portion of it is dedicated to each parent.

480 days, 390 during which you get compensation based on income (80% of your salary, provided you use 7 days a week), and 90 during which you get compensation at a lower level, at about 17 USD/day.

@@hannahthufvesson In Sweden 5 days is 1 working week. Weekends do not count towards the working week. Also your 5 weeks of paid vacation is also separated from parental leave.
      480 days = 96 weeks = 24 months

@@sofiajohansson8537 Parental leave isn't calculated based on a working week, it is based on literal days (unfortunately). You can choose to only use 5 days a week, but for some of us that's difficult financially. Would have loved for it to be the way you suggest, it would have been awesome! ☺️ I also don't count our vacation as parental leave, as we have vacation anyways.

But why should we expect employers to pay us for work? It’s not getting done because we had a baby. It’s an honest question.

Why should you be paid for getting pregnant exactly?
You can take off as much time as you need you just wont earn income.
Personal life choice to have a kid its awesome if your employer chooses to continue to compensate you but why do we think that should be standard?

Having a baby is one of the most monumental and life-changing moments. Mothers NEED time for their mind and body to rest and recover...
8 weeks may seem like a lot to those who don't get any time off, we get that - but in reality, it's still not enough time. 😪

In the UK you get a year full pay if you’ve been at the company long enough, this is subsidised by the government of course. Not that we are weak or anything we just won’t time to bond.

Only 9 months of that is paid and its less than 200 pounds a week. Some companies pay a higher rate for the first few weeks.

Guess what real American women are strong!5 hrs after my last. Which was a c section I was up and walking and went home the next day..and yes I can prove it. Back in my day, there was no choice.. but me being a smart ass, I also worked from home as an artist. Sold enough to be able to stay home, and I grew all of our veggies, plus hunted, and raised our meat. Berry pickin and fishing was good also. Trick is to think out of the box. Mom's can work from home and be with their kids with an awsome stay at home mom. I'm now nearly 61, and my kids can fend for themselves when push comes to shove..

I had my first at 07:36 and went had a shower, tidied up the bathroom after including wiping down the floor and was home by 2 that afternoon. It was pretty similar with my second but you just get on with it, like people have for hundreds of years

That’s what happens when you get what you want. You want a career, so do what it takes. Toughen up girlfriend.
You wanted someone else to raise your kids while you bring home the bacon! That’s all a part of it, having to do the tough things to make it work. Congratulations 🎉.
Of course you could just whine and cry and complain
That the world’s not fair, and it’s a shame we can’t change it to fit the way I want it!!!!!

Depending on the(Birth plan ) if she had a regular birth, then two or three weeks if she had an emergency cesarean three months if she had a planned two months, it always depends on the birth

Ok basic logic I get paid for my part in making money for a company, why the hell would me making a decision to have a baby entitle me to money? Not to mention the company has to hold a job for you while your expertise is not being used and they are suffering without you huuuuuhhh? How about you plan your life better and save your money before you procreate.
