    I rode my 2023 890R adventure for a year. I traded it in for a 2024 500 exc-f, and I absolutely love it! Sad to see the 890 go, but I needed the lightness and nimbal back.

    I’m looking at the 500 as well. My 690 is just a little too heavy for what I like to ride. I’m m not looking to do single track on it as I’ve got a 300 XCW for that.
    I’ve ridden the 690 on the TAT and it’s fine but the 500 is more capable.
    Congratulations on your bike!

      I can understand. I was on the fence on what to get. Between an 890R, 690, or the 500, I kept telling myself I already know what it's like to wrestle around a heavy bike. I'm still happy with my decision. Congrats on the TAT ride man; that's awesome!

    Got a 2022 500 EXC-F myself and love this bike. I agree Neutral is very hard to find on these bikes you have to find the perfect amount of pressure to not shift it into second, just takes practice. I highly recommend getting the Motominded Dash, and replacing those horrid mirrors (they knock loose really easy). The only compaints I've had so far with it is the mirrors and the key hole placement, but those upgrades fixed those issues with minor cost. Have fun riding!

    • @dantheman4life
      @dantheman4life  2 роки тому

      You are right, it does take practice but I've gotten better at finding neutral. I'll have to check out the Motominded Dash and the mirrors do leave a lot to be desired haha. So far I've put on the tusk rear rack, rear suspension, 3.9 tank, and Seat Concepts seat. You are right about the key hole placement. So glad the 500 has so much aftermarket support. Thanks for watching and ride safe man!

      @@dantheman4life looking forward to more updates and how you like the bike! what sort of handlebar upgrade did you do? Just risers? or vibration mounts / flex bars

    • @dantheman4life
      @dantheman4life  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Jan. I put on risers and I also did the cork and birdshot handlebar mod with pillow top grips to reduce vibration. I did a 150 mile plus day over this past weekend and so far so good. I have a 450 mile trip coming up in the next couple of weeks so I'll know if I need to go with something like Flexx bars or not. I'll be sure to mention the handlebar situation during the multi-day ride.

    Always a great feeling when welcoming a new bike to the stable. Sad to see the AT go but the memories, oh the memories. Now that KTM looks the business and purpose built for more off road adventures for sure. Enjoy her. Less is more.

    • @dantheman4life
      @dantheman4life  2 роки тому

      G... nothing like that feeling you get when a new bike hits the stable haha. I'm sad to see it go also. It was great value for the money and even offered carplay! I hope I won't be out of an adventure bike long because I do enjoy taking trips, but I'm glad to finally get the KTM. Thanks for watching and I hope you and your fam are doing well.

    Grats on new bike!. Dan how do you manage the fuel after the Africa Twin? I mean you had 20liters and now 8liters fuel tank.

    • @dantheman4life
      @dantheman4life  2 роки тому +2

      So far it's not bad. I can get at least 70 miles out of a tank so I'm never too far from a gas station and I've been bringing an extra 2 liters of fuel with me. The 3.9 gal tank that I'd like to get is out of stock right now but should be available sometime in November. Thanks for watching!

    KTM 1290 Super Adventure S or R = Yes. This, not, unless you're just changing what you do. I get it, I grew up opn dirt bikes. But, I grew up :)

      My goal is to have bikes tailored to the type of riding I'd like to do. The 500 is my light weight ADV bike that I can tackle more technical terrain alone so now I'm looking for something that can knock out 500 miles a day while still being off-road capable and sporty on the road while costing less that 10k used (trying to set aside money for investments). So many good bikes to choose from... It's really hard to find a "bad" bikes these days.

    500s are so good, I really want to swap my 690 for one. I think you'll be stoked and gain a lot of off-road confidence and skill on that thing real quick. Also your mic set-up sounds great, even with no wind protection on the dirt bike; what's your setup?

    • @dantheman4life
      @dantheman4life  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Double Arrow! I debated for a while and I'm glad I pulled the trigger on the 500. I'll be honest, you do give up a lot of comfort, but you gain so much ability with one of these. You are right... I think I can already see the 500 helping with confidence and skill. A subscriber I ride with sold me a media mod for my gopro and an external mic. I still have work to do with the setup but I'm glad to hear you were able to notice the difference. Thanks for watching Double Arrow and stay say on that 690.

    I guess you aren't going to do much touring now with the service intervals on that being every 15 - 20 hrs (1200 -1500 miles). Super off road bike though. 255 lbs and 40 hp! My little TW is 280 lbs and 16 hp 😂.
    If you are gonna get a 2nd affordable bike maybe a KLR 650. You could tour and still do dirt. Or if you want more maybe the Tenere 700 or Tenere World Raid 700.
    And I ain't going anywhere, Dan. I'm here cause of you not the type of steel and plastic you ride.

    • @dantheman4life
      @dantheman4life  2 роки тому +1

      Haha yeah I don't think I'll be putting in 3k trips on this one anytime soon but I do plan on 250-500 mile rides so I'm excited to see what that will be like. Thanks for watching Hazcat. If I wasn't so big I'd have a TW in the stable too!
