    It is important to note that when you up to upgrade your XCarve, you can do it in stages. This router and the router mount are sold separately from other parts of the upgrade kits. That way you can choose what you want to upgrade and budget it into your plans for what works best for your situation.

    I’ve been looking at this upgrade for awhile, thanks for the video. I don’t run my router power cord in the drag chain had too many issues with EMI so removed it and suspended it from above.

      Ok. I have never had a problem. Knock on wood! The upgrade is great

    Question: Do you have any issues with power using a surge protector? Do you run your dust collection as well?

      I have had no issues at all running my cnc through surge protectors. Each of my cnc machines are on one. I have heard of the issue but I have not experienced the issue

    What do you recommend for maintence on this router? For long laster effect. Great content!

      Primarily keep it clear. Blow the dust out with an air compressor

    Why is the Makita better?

    I just noticed that the bed of my Xarve is not 100% parallel to the x axis so it's cutting more on right side. Do u have any tutorials/tips on how to compensate for that as the frame of Xcarve is all made of screws and extrusion rods.

      The first step is to try and determine what is out of square. Your wasteboard base may be twisted. If the wasteboard is fine then look at the screws. Loosen them and use a square to shift it slightly to get it square. If there is enough play in the movement to get is square great, if not, then you will need to use small shims. Washers may work.

    How is this Makita router an improvement?

    • @rbwoodwork1890

      I changed to a Makita about 5 months ago because my Dewalt kept slowing or stopping during a carve and broke a couple of bits! Dewalt was never able to solve the issue and I wasn’t offered a new one! The Makita is way quieter and hasn’t give me any problems. I do miss the options of different collets.

      @@budc6246 Thank you. Makita has a range of 10,000 to 30,000 RPM and Dewalt has a range of 16,000-27,000 RPM.

    Why is the Makita router such an improvement over the DeWalt 611 ?

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  2 роки тому +1

      The number one improvement is that the brushes last much longer.
      2. It is much quieter. For some that is very important.
      3. This I’ll have to double check, but the setting of one is a lower RPM than the Dewalt and more in line with the bit speed

      It is new to me and it is the new router for the xcarve. The DeWalt 611 router has been replaced by this Makita router

    Can't we just use some padding instead of wasting $35 on an attachment?

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  2 роки тому +1

      The size difference would require a very rigid filler. If you could 3d print a sleeve, that should work. Just padding no, any movement would make for a poor carving

    • @SwapnilBhartiya
      @SwapnilBhartiya 2 роки тому +1

      @@PawPawsWorkShop Woodworking is all about 'hacking' and fixing things. One can put a plastic sleeve or rubber sleeve between the router and the attachment. After all it's held by screws. Right? I can 3D print a sleeve but I felt just putting plastic sleve or 6mil sheet around it and tighten the screw should do it. Just my thoughts I may be wrong.

      @@PawPawsWorkShop I just did. I had this POWERTEC 70176 Clear Pipe, 2-1/2-Inch for a project. I cut a piece length of the router sliced it from the middle and it was PERFECT sleev. The router's diameters are 64mm and 68mm so I needed was to fill 4mm gap. Tightened it and it's as tight as the original router. Thanks for your video though without it i could not have thought of it. Now I can easily IF needed switch between both routers. I might post a video of this 'hack'. Thanks to you!
