Lover was her first album SHE OWNED. Folklore and Evermore came after Lover.
"cannons firing at your yacht" is a clever play on the word 'canon', meaning somebody's body of literary work. She's re-recording her canon to bring Scooter down.
doesn't really affect Braun; his holding company invested a bit over 300 million to buy Big Machine, and its four labels. Half year later, Ithaca Holdings sold Taylor's masters to Shamrock Holdings (Roy Disney's family) for basically what they paid for the whole company. Shamrock hoped to make a deal with Taylor, but their purchase included additional compensation, based on income, for Braun, and Tay balked. And, continued to deny the new owners the right to sync the music to ads or films or video games.💖 They own the recordings, but she has copyright rights to the lyrics & music.
@@robertthompson7242 Your assumption is based on Braun getting 300M in cash. I cant see Shamrock handing over that amount of money on spec. I say this because Scooter said he would allow her to see the financials only if she signed an iron clad NDA. And he refused to come up with even a starting price. When I put those two facts together I believe that Shamrock covered their ass by buying her masters with contingency clauses and future payments, depending on what Taylor would do. Shamrock knew damn well that Taylor was going to fight back. They're not stupid or blind.
@@kosmikpixie Shamrock is suing trying to get their money back, now. The terms of the sale were reported at the time, mostly because Taylor publicly opposed the sale (which she was not consulted on),
cannons firing at your yacht is also doubly clever because I remember a video of Justin Bieber pranking her by making her light a firework which "set fire" to a yacht nearby where a fake wedding was happening. It then ties together with the situation of when Justin posted the photo of Scooter and Kanye on video call captioned "What up Taylor"

Thinking back scooters wife and Kanye’s wife both defended their husbands against Taylor when they knew she was innocent and both ended up divorcing these men later on. “The master of spin has a couple side flings good wives always know…”
This is one of my favorites from folklore, haha! Even without linking the song to her masters situation, the meaning is great because it's about how women can't just express their anger without being seen as mad or crazy!
Wait i might have it wrong but i thought it was more towards the kimye drama than her masters situation
there's something about her voice in this song in particular that always give me chills, ALWAYS (maybe the anger and the hurt, as you pointed out
She got a new record deal after Reputation so there is no need for Taylors Version for Lover, Folklore and Evermore. :)
She doesn't need to labelled songs from her last 3 albums with Taylor's version since she will own every songs that she made under republic record cause that's what their contract said. She's doing Taylor Version to inform her audience to listen to the songs that she just recreated since the original first released also appear in her music profile on every platforms.

Someone on a Ringer podcast about TS’s albums brought up the similarity in sound to the verse about poking a bear to a part of Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve, and now I can’t I hear it. The background music (I can’t write w/much knowledge of music, sry) and the theme of the song (kind of) reminds me of Last Great American Dynasty. But I do like Mad Woman. I’m really enjoying hearing TS songs that I’d never heard before bc I’d preciously only been familiar w/her hits. Folklore and Evermore being the source of a wealth of new favs.
Mad World is originally a Tears for Fears song, but you’re probably thinking of the extremely different Gary Jules version.
Reputation was her last album for Big Machine. She signed up with Republic Records (Universal Music Group label) late in 2018; her new contract gives her ownership of the masters for her new music. fwiw, almost no artists who sign with labels own their masters; Taylor's advice to newcomers to the business (in Vogue's 73 Questions) was "get a good lawyer"

The backvocals in this song are like screams of agony.
Lover, Folklore and Evermore Taylor already owns since she had left Big Machine Records after releasing those albums. So these albums are technically already "Taylors Version". She doesn't need to rerecord them. Everything else will be.
I love this song❤The sound, the lyrics, how dark she sings it, everything. And the line ( "and you´ll poke that bear ´til her claws come out and you find something to wrap your noose around" ) anyone who has ever been with a narcissist understands that one💯

Exactly…this one hit really hard having been in a relationship with a narcissist and having a narcissistic parent. They just want to poke and poke until you almost lose it. She captures this feeling so perfectly with those lyrics
How is this your least favorite?! Mad woman is one of my favorite songs off folklore! I think like the man you don't relate to how hard it is to be a woman
i don't think it's about gender. I'm a man and i relate to that a lot, probably not in a way women do but i relate to this song. In his case i think it's because he has different taste, everybody likes something different.
YES!!! It is such an important, powerful song. Definitely one of my favorites.
Maybe because music is subjective and everyone has their own personal preferences and taste...? I'm a woman and this song is also among my bottom three of the album. It's just not one I care to revisit. I like the subject and theme and I can relate to it, but sonically, it doesn't really do anything for me.

Lover, folklore and evermore are already owned by her. She won't need to do Taylor's versions for those ones.
I didn’t connect with this song either, it’s not a favorite for me but when it pops up I sang it with madness, for her

But lover, folklore and evermore she don't have to rerecord it because she already owns them ( before lover and after rep Swift announced in November 2018 that she was leaving Big Machine Records for Republic Records and Universal Music Group. )

i agree, i totally get the message and i agree 100% on every word, but as a song itself this is my least favorite of the album. one of my least favorite of her entire career maybe.. (doesn't mean its BAD, but you know, if i had to give them an order...)
